Master, Please Help Me Break the Love Curse! - Chapter 37
Luo Jiu originally intended to refuse Shang Qianye’s request, but she couldn’t resist her stubbornness. Besides, Shang Qianye seemed to have recovered significantly, no longer confined to bed and needing to be fed.
Young people heal quickly, Luo Jiu thought.
In fact, it was Shang Qianye who had insisted on accompanying her on the patrol. If her wound were to reopen along the way, Luo Jiu would have the perfect opportunity to mock her for overestimating her abilities.
While inspecting the Barrier, Luo Jiu walked at a leisurely pace, occasionally crouching down to examine the Barrier’s edges. But most of her pauses were to wait for Shang Qianye, who hobbled along like a duck, her movements slow and awkward.
Crossing her arms, Luo Jiu strode ahead. “If you can’t keep up, go back. I won’t help you if you fall.”
Shang Qianye limped after her, leaning on a cane she’d somehow acquired, looking rather disheveled. Sweat beaded on her forehead, yet she still smiled at Luo Jiu. “Master is teasing me again.”
Luo Jiu shot her a sidelong glance, snorted coldly, and continued walking.
The inspection required no special maintenance, and the entire walk took only about fifteen minutes. By the time Luo Jiu had assessed the situation and decided to return tomorrow to make repairs, she turned to see Shang Qianye walking toward her, her face pale, sweat beading at her temples, yet still limping resolutely forward.
Luo Jiu’s heart tightened at the sight. She couldn’t help but wonder if she had been too harsh on Shang Qianye. After all, the woman was still injured.
“How are you? Are you alright?” Luo Jiu asked, hurrying over to support Shang Qianye’s arm. She frowned and scolded her, “I told you not to push yourself! If your wound reopens, who will suffer but you?”
Shang Qianye was indeed reaching her limit. The smile on her face faltered as she leaned weakly against Luo Jiu’s shoulder, her voice softening as she murmured, “I just wanted… to spend more time with you.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Luo Jiu retorted. “What need is there for you to keep me company?”
Shang Qianye, chastised, fell silent, only pressing herself closer to Luo Jiu’s side.
Supporting her, Luo Jiu considered for a moment before saying, “Wait here. I’ll go get the wheelchair.”
Upon hearing this, Shang Qianye immediately grabbed Luo Jiu’s sleeve, her sweat-dampened black eyes fixed on her. “Master, there’s no need. I just need a little rest, and I can walk back myself.”
“At this hour, you still won’t listen to me?”
“Master…”
Luo Jiu’s temper flared, her face darkening. “If you refuse to listen now, don’t bother listening ever again. You can fend for yourself here.”
Realizing she had angered Luo Jiu again, Shang Qianye quickly changed her tune. “I’ll listen to Master, but… it’s so dark here. I’ll be scared if I’m left alone. Could Master… leave a clone with me?”
Talisman Cultivators possessed a technique to summon a duplicate of themselves. While this didn’t double their magical power, it did double their senses. Highly skilled practitioners could summon multiple clones, ensuring no vulnerabilities in their defenses.
Occasionally, they could also leave a clone behind for company while their true body attended to other matters.
Luo Jiu initially wanted to refuse, but seeing Shang Qianye’s pitiful expression, she sighed, casually summoned a Yellow Talisman Paper, and flicked it to the ground, instantly conjuring another version of herself.
Luo Jiu glanced sideways at Shang Qianye, her tone displeased. “Is this enough? You’re so demanding.”
Leaving behind a clone, Luo Jiu agreed to cooperate. She walked back to retrieve the wheelchair while the clone stayed with Shang Qianye, keeping her company and chatting.
In truth, they had little to talk about, mostly exchanging meaningless small talk. But Shang Qianye was injured and too weak to return on her own, vulnerable in her current state. Luo Jiu decided not to hold it against her.
Let her do as she pleases.
“Master, look! The moon is so round tonight,” Shang Qianye said, trying to strike up a conversation. “The last time I saw a moon this full was last month.”
The clone turned to her. “If you don’t know what to say, just keep quiet and save your energy.”
Shang Qianye: “……”
Master is as fierce as ever.
As the two fell silent, a sudden gust of wind swept overhead, lifting the accumulated snow into the air. The snow rose and fell in gentle waves, creating the illusion of a snowfall.
“Master, look!” Shang Qianye tugged at Luo Jiu’s hand, pointing at the swirling snow. “It’s snowing!”
Luo Jiu looked up at the brief snowfall, but the Heavenly Dao Brake’s barrier blocked the snowflakes mid-air, causing them to dissipate in the wind before reaching their heads.
It was a real pity.
Shang Qianye felt the same way. She had even reached out her hand, only to find nothing there.
“So it doesn’t snow inside the Heavenly Dao Brake,” Shang Qianye said, turning to Luo Jiu with her bright, dark eyes. “The Lingxiao Sect has snow year-round, but it rarely actually snows. Master, do you like snow?”
Luo Jiu replied, “Wind, rain, sunshine, and snow are just weather. There’s no question of liking or disliking them.”
Shang Qianye chuckled softly. “Master is still the same—acting like she’s not interested in anything.”
In truth, Shang Qianye knew Luo Jiu was only putting on a brave face. Deep down, she loved everything.
Delicious food.
Beautiful scenery.
Wind, rain, sunshine, and snow.
She had told Shang Qianye, “I don’t care whether you live or die,” but her eyes betrayed her.
Shang Qianye loved this side of Luo Jiu.
Or rather, she loved everything about Luo Jiu.
“Master…”
Shang Qianye gazed at Luo Jiu’s profile, leaning in slightly. By the time Luo Jiu snapped out of her daze, Shang Qianye had already pressed her lips against hers.
This kiss was devoid of romantic love or lust, pure to its core, like a child kissing someone they adore—untainted by any selfish desire.
Luo Jiu froze, stunned by the kiss. Only after Shang Qianye pulled away did she belatedly realize she should probably be angry.
But the moment for anger had passed. She could only feign a stern glare.
“Kissing you,” Shang Qianye replied with disarming frankness.
“You…”
Luo Jiu wanted to scold her. Her body was so battered she could barely move, yet Shang Qianye’s mind was still consumed with kissing her. This woman is truly beyond saving. But before she could utter a word, Shang Qianye leaned in again. This time, she cupped Luo Jiu’s face, deepening the kiss.
Shang Qianye’s lips were cool, but her tongue burned hot.
Luo Jiu tried to pull away, but Shang Qianye gripped her chin, forcing her to passively endure the kiss.
The wet, smacking sounds made Luo Jiu’s face flush and her heart race. She had initially thought Shang Qianye would just give her a quick kiss like before, but to her surprise, Shang Qianye tossed aside her crutch and pulled her into a tight embrace.
Luo Jiu’s back slammed against the cold, hard rock wall. Gasping for breath, she managed to push Shang Qianye back slightly.
She didn’t dare use too much force, afraid of hurting her.
But eyes can’t kill. Luo Jiu glared fiercely at Shang Qianye, her lips still flushed from the kiss, and demanded, “Are you ever going to stop?”
The corners of Luo Jiu’s eyes were still tinged with crimson, traces of tears lingering from her struggle to breathe. Yet, her glare at Shang Qianye only made her look more alluring.
“Master,” Shang Qianye whispered in her ear, her hands already wandering restlessly over Luo Jiu’s waist and thighs.
Luo Jiu startled, thinking Shang Qianye was about to continue.
She had already endured enough torment the previous night. Her legs ached with every step; she couldn’t possibly endure more.
“Y-you can’t do this again,” Luo Jiu stammered, her cheeks burning crimson as she gripped Shang Qianye’s hand. “A few more times, and you’ll die in bed.”
Shang Qianye chuckled softly, kissed Luo Jiu’s rounded earlobe, and murmured, “What does Master want?”
Luo Jiu’s entire body tingled from the kiss. She forced herself to say, “You know what I want.”
“Hmm,” Shang Qianye hummed, her voice magnetic as she pressed kisses against Luo Jiu’s neck. “I won’t do that. I just want to kiss Master. You smell so sweet, almost like… me.”
Kisses fell like snowflakes on Luo Jiu’s pale skin. She frowned, trying to suppress her reaction. Her mind told her to resist, but her body refused to move, even reaching out to cling to Shang Qianye’s shoulders, arching her chest forward in surrender.
Now. This moment.
In the Heavenly Dao Brake, only Shang Qianye and Luo Jiu existed.
They didn’t need to care about prying eyes or hide their desires.
Shang Qianye could kiss her whenever she pleased, however she pleased. And Luo Jiu wanted it too; she wouldn’t deny herself.
The kiss lasted an eternity, or perhaps only a fleeting moment. When Luo Jiu, her face flushed crimson, finally pushed Shang Qianye away, her lips were swollen. She wiped the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand, glaring angrily at Shang Qianye as she stared at the lingering wetness on her skin.
With a poof, Luo Jiu transformed into a talisman, which fluttered to the ground at her feet.
Shang Qianye froze for a moment, realizing Luo Jiu’s physical body had returned. She whirled around to see the woman, still wearing Shang Qianye’s outer robe, had abandoned the wheelchair by the roadside and was walking away without looking back.
“Master,” Shang Qianye called out, limping over to the wheelchair. She pushed it forward, intending to chase after Luo Jiu.
But her injured leg slowed her down. Despite her best efforts, Shang Qianye only managed to catch up with Luo Jiu at the entrance of the cave. Luo Jiu hadn’t even broken a sweat during the walk, while Shang Qianye was left panting heavily.
When Luo Jiu stopped and turned to look at her, Shang Qianye approached with a bright smile, pushing the wheelchair. “Master,” she murmured, “you know I can’t walk fast. Why didn’t you wait for me?”
“For someone with such weak legs, you sure move fast,” Luo Jiu said sarcastically. “You barely started walking before you were already getting cozy with that yellow talisman paper.”
Shang Qianye blinked innocently. “Master, you can sense everything. Why would you be jealous?”
Luo Jiu’s ears flushed crimson. “Who’s jealous?” she snapped. “If you knew I could sense everything, why did you… why did you do that yesterday?”
“Do what?” Shang Qianye asked innocently.
Luo Jiu wanted to curse her. She knew perfectly well what the Heart Demon had done, yet here she was, clinging to Luo Jiu even after waking up.
But Luo Jiu couldn’t bring herself to say it. She could only glare daggers at Shang Qianye before turning and retreating into the cave.
Shang Qianye rubbed her nose awkwardly and limped after her, pushing her wheelchair. Before she could figure out how to appease Luo Jiu, a talisman brushed past her shoulder and flew to Luo Jiu’s hand.
It was a sound transmission talisman.
Recognizing the familiar seal on the talisman, Luo Jiu knew it was from Gu Jin. Anxious about potential emergencies outside, she immediately activated it.
Gu Jin’s voice soon crackled through the talisman.
Junior Sister, as you predicted, the Snake Lady has made contact with our mole.
