Luo Jiu’s face flushed green with anger. She flung Shang Qianye’s hand away and demanded, “What kind of Gu did the Snake Lady use on you that day? Why can’t it be removed in one go?!”
Ever since returning from the Heavenly Dao Brake, Luo Jiu had sensed something amiss within her body. After meditating for a long time, she realized she had also been afflicted with a Gu.
Her thoughts immediately turned to Shang Qianye and the Gu worms the Snake Lady had planted within her.
Initially, Luo Jiu had assumed it was a common love gu, which could be dispelled with a single release. But now she realized the situation was far more complex. The strange Gu within her wasn’t a typical love gu; it was more like a Symbiotic Gu, a variant of the love gu.
Luo Jiu recalled an ancient text describing the earliest love gu as a twin-bodied Gu. The mother worm was implanted in Shang Qianye’s body, and whenever she became intimate with another person, the daughter worm would transfer to the other person’s body.
The mother worm would activate every seven days, and the daughter worm would react regardless of the distance between them, demanding immediate union. Failure to comply would result in the mother worm killing its host, while the daughter worm would severely injure its host.
Luo Jiu realized that the love gu the Snake Lady had implanted in Shang Qianye was likely a Life-Bound Gu.
Shang Qianye, craving Luo Jiu’s scent, practically clung to her, her hands restlessly caressing Luo Jiu’s lower back. In a low, husky voice, she murmured, “Master, I feel so awful… please help me.”
Her burning breath ghosted across Luo Jiu’s neck, sending shivers down her spine.
“Shang Qianye…!”
Before Luo Jiu could scold her, Shang Qianye silenced her with a kiss.
Unlike Luo Jiu’s reserved nature, Shang Qianye’s lips were warm and soft, her kisses both passionate and tender. Even her moans sounded particularly sweet.
Tonight, I’ll make Master moan too.
Shang Qianye’s scalding tongue chased Luo Jiu’s retreating tongue through her mouth, leaving her breathless. The once obedient disciple had completely transformed.
So fierce.
As if she wanted to devour her whole.
Leaning against the door, Luo Jiu tried to push her away, but Shang Qianye seized her hand and pressed it against her chest.
Luo Jiu was consumed by shame and humiliation, her fingertips trembling violently.
“Master…”
Shang Qianye’s breathing quickened. Slightly taller than Luo Jiu, her eyes glowed crimson in the darkness, her cheeks flushed as if she were drunk, her gaze fixed on the person before her with feverish intensity.
Startled by her gaze, Luo Jiu frantically averted her eyes.
But Shang Qianye refused to let her escape. Grasping Luo Jiu’s chin, she forced her head around and lowered her own, capturing Luo Jiu’s lips once more.
“Mmm…”
Luo Jiu felt her tongue go numb from the relentless sucking. The Life-Bound Gu within her stirred with excitement, leaving her weak-kneed and nearly clinging to Shang Qianye’s body. As her feet lifted off the ground, Luo Jiu realized she was being carried by the hips. She opened her eyes in a daze to see Shang Qianye carrying her toward the house.
When she was laid on the bed, Luo Jiu’s head swam. All she remembered was clinging tightly to Shang Qianye’s robes, refusing to let go until the very end…
The next day.
Birdsong filled the air beyond the Jade Court Forest.
Luo Jiu groggily opened her eyes, gazing at the familiar bedding and room. For a moment, she couldn’t quite place where she was.
Suddenly, she sensed hurried breathing nearby. Someone else was in the room.
As she sat up, her long black hair slid smoothly off her shoulder, concealing the large bruises on her chest. Newly awakened, Luo Jiu lacked her usual icy demeanor; her dazed expression even carried a hint of vulnerability.
But when she turned her head and saw Shang Qianye kneeling not far from her bedside, the air seemed to freeze.
Luo Jiu: “……”
Shang Qianye: “……”
Luo Jiu: “……”
Shang Qianye: “……Master?”
Shang Qianye was wearing someone else’s undergarment, her bare feet pressed against the floor. It was unclear when she had woken up or when she had knelt down, but her heart clenched the moment she saw Luo Jiu stir.
Last night… Shang Qianye had pressed her relentlessly, demanding again and again until Luo Jiu finally broke down in tears. During their final struggle, Luo Jiu bit Shang Qianye’s shoulder before collapsing into unconsciousness.
Shang Qianye woke up before dawn, her mind crystal clear about the events of the previous night. Knowing full well what punishment awaited her when Luo Jiu awoke, she knelt resolutely before her master’s bed, waiting for her to stir.
“Master, it was my fault last night,” Shang Qianye said, prostrating herself on the ground. “It wasn’t my intention!”
Though Shang Qianye was thrilled.
Though Shang Qianye was overjoyed.
Though Shang Qianye had experienced unprecedented satisfaction.
But it truly wasn’t her intention!
Luo Jiu stared intently at the crown of Shang Qianye’s head, as if trying to see through her skull and discern her thoughts. After an indeterminate length of time, the oppressive atmosphere finally eased slightly. Luo Jiu shifted her gaze and, her face still cold, instructed Shang Qianye, “Prepare the bath.”
The Jade Court Forest was surrounded by pine trees, with only one path leading in and out. Luo Jiu’s residence stood in a clearing within the forest, comprising not only her bedroom but also a training hall, study, front courtyard, and rear garden—a spacious estate.
As Shang Qianye was preparing to heat the water in the bathhouse, she saw Luo Jiu enter, draped in a robe.
“Master,” Shang Qianye said, glancing at her. “The water isn’t ready yet. Would you mind waiting a bit longer?”
Luo Jiu gazed at her bath, then glanced at Shang Qianye, who was rolling up her sleeves to work. “How long will it take to heat the water with firewood?” she asked casually. “You seemed quite energetic last night, so your spiritual energy must have recovered by now. Use your spiritual energy to heat the water for me.”
Shang Qianye: “……”
Luo Jiu was clearly bullying her.
But Shang Qianye had no choice. After all, she had indeed gone too far the previous day.
Being punished to heat water with spiritual energy wasn’t a big deal. She might as well just do it.
In the bath, Luo Jiu felt the water’s temperature while Shang Qianye crouched beside her, carefully observing Luo Jiu’s expression. If Luo Jiu’s brow furrowed slightly, Shang Qianye would heat the water a little more; if Luo Jiu’s brow relaxed, she would ease up for a moment.
By the time the water reached the right temperature, Shang Qianye was drenched in sweat. She looked up and saw Luo Jiu leaning against the edge of the bath, her fair, rounded shoulders and slender neck exposed. In the misty air, even Luo Jiu’s complexion seemed softer.
“Master…”
Shang Qianye’s heart skipped a beat. She unconsciously moved behind Luo Jiu, gently draped a towel over her shoulders, and whispered, “Allow your disciple to assist you with your bath.”
The moment Shang Qianye’s hand brushed Luo Jiu’s shoulder, Luo Jiu evaded her touch.
Under the shimmering water, Shang Qianye caught sight of the intimate marks she had left on Luo Jiu’s chest. Her breath quickened involuntarily, her gaze fixed intently on the sight.
Luo Jiu didn’t look at her. She moved aside and said, “I don’t need you for this.”
Using people when needed and discarding them afterward?
Shang Qianye felt a tickle in her throat but dared not disobey Luo Jiu’s command. Reluctantly, she retreated to tidy up the room.
By the time Luo Jiu emerged from her leisurely hot bath, Shang Qianye had already cleaned the messy room spotless. Luo Jiu glanced at her and said languidly, “Come to the backyard.”
Puzzled but obedient, Shang Qianye followed Luo Jiu to the backyard.
Luo Jiu had little need for domestic comforts. Apart from the bathing pool, the backyard had been completely transformed.
A massive Formation, paved with bluestone slabs, dominated the open space. Stone lanterns stood at each cardinal direction. The Formation was vast, capable of executing nearly all common Formation Arts. As Luo Jiu stood beside it, a blue magical array immediately rose from the ground.
Shang Qianye blinked at the array. “Master, are you going to…”
Luo Jiu didn’t turn around. She simply said, “Enter. I’m going to cast the Soul-Searching Technique on you.”
The Soul-Searching Technique was typically used by practitioners with superior magical power against those with weaker abilities. Its primary purpose was to extract memories, often employed during interrogations or when the subject was unable to speak.
The technique itself wasn’t particularly difficult, requiring only one condition: the caster’s magical power had to far surpass that of the subject.
Due to this power disparity, the subject couldn’t lie; everything they had seen and heard would be revealed within the caster’s consciousness.
Now, Luo Jiu was declaring her intention to use the Soul-Searching Technique on Shang Qianye.
“Master?” Shang Qianye stared at her in astonishment, immediately understanding what Luo Jiu sought to uncover. “Do you suspect I’m lying?” she asked, her voice tinged with confusion.
Luo Jiu turned to face her, her dark eyes cold and clear, devoid of emotion.
“I don’t suspect you,” Luo Jiu replied. “I merely wish to recreate the scene of your conversation with the Snake Lady that night. There may be details you overlooked.”
Luo Jiu’s explanation was flawless, leaving Shang Qianye no room for argument. After all, the love gu was indeed peculiar.
Shang Qianye gave up struggling and stepped into the Formation.
The Soul-Searching Technique proceeded smoothly. Luo Jiu saw Shang Qianye’s memories from that night, including the Holy Maiden Snake Ji dressed in crimson robes.
Snake Ji’s plan was surprisingly simple. She had kept Shang Qianye running at a steady pace, neither too close nor too far, before suddenly slowing down and feigning injury. She then stalled for time, lulling Shang Qianye into a false sense of security, before joining forces with the black-clad figure to knock her unconscious.
Shang Qianye hadn’t lied, but Luo Jiu gleaned some crucial details from her memories.
First, the black-clad figure was a woman.
Second, the two women moved with perfect coordination, clearly having worked together for years. Yet Luo Jiu knew that while the Bl00d Serpent Palace recruited members from various factions, all of them were men—except for the Holy Maiden Snake Ji herself.
Who was this black-clad woman?
Was the Gu they implanted in Shang Qianye truly meant only for her?
Suddenly, Luo Jiu recalled Snake Ji’s final words: Risking little for great gain—that’s what makes it interesting.
