- Mistakenly Treated The Princess As A Concubine
- Chapter 134 - Yan Qinglan Turns into a Cat Extra
Wen Zhuojin was momentarily stunned. The scent seemed to be coming from the kitten.
Perhaps it was because Yan Qinglan had held it?
Seeing the kitten’s expression, Wen Zhuojin instantly thought of Yan Qinglan. The look in its eyes was too similar.
“Meow… meow…” The kitten called out twice, raising its paw as if beckoning Wen Zhuojin to come closer.
Wen Zhuojin unconsciously took two steps forward before stopping.
She felt like she was losing her mind.
She had been away from the palace for several days and missed Yan Qinglan terribly, but she shouldn’t be mistaking a kitten for Yan Qinglan.
Besides, Yan Qinglan was quite jealous. If she found out Wen Zhuojin had hugged a cat before seeing her, she would be upset.
“I have to go. I’ll have the palace maid take care of you and prepare some food for you…” Wen Zhuojin waved at the kitten.
The cats in the cat room were all carefully selected, and the palace maid in charge was skilled at caring for them.
Wen Zhuojin called for someone to take care of the kitten and hurriedly left.
As she left, she faintly heard the kitten meowing, as if it was angry.
Wen Zhuojin chuckled. It must have been her imagination.
Even if the kitten was angry, she couldn’t stay. She had to return to the palace to find her beautiful sister.
Wen Zhuojin rushed back to the palace and went to the Taihe Hall, but Yan Qinglan wasn’t there.
The palace maid said Yan Qinglan was resting in the Zichen Hall, so Wen Zhuojin hurried there.
When she arrived at the inner chamber of the Zichen Hall, Wen Zhuojin tiptoed in, not wanting to disturb Yan Qinglan and hoping to surprise her.
But when she carefully lifted the bed curtain, she found only a messy thin quilt and Yan Qinglan’s sleeping robe, which still carried her scent. Yan Qinglan herself was nowhere to be seen.
Wen Zhuojin’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly checked the bathroom and the dressing room but still couldn’t find Yan Qinglan.
There was no trace of her.
Wen Zhuojin panicked, her mind racing through terrifying possibilities, from rebel forces to enemy nations.
How could someone be so skilled as to leave no trace, not even a scent?
Wen Zhuojin forced herself to calm down and quickly summoned the head palace maid and the Embroidered Uniform Guards.
“I didn’t see His Majesty leave the palace, nor did I hear any orders from her. It’s my negligence. I’ll go find Her Majesty immediately!”
“I’ve been serving outside the entire time. I only saw a cat come out of the inner chamber, so I sent it to the cat room. It even scratched me several times!”
As the servants spoke, Wen Zhuojin’s heart grew colder. When the last palace maid spoke, a thought struck her.
The situation was so bizarre that Wen Zhuojin couldn’t believe it.
But as long as there was even the slightest possibility, Wen Zhuojin had to verify it.
She ordered the Embroidered Uniform Guards to search for Yan Qinglan while she hurried to the cat room.
The kitten was still there, surrounded by several palace maids. Whenever someone tried to grab it, it would scratch them, its fur bristling and its fluffy tail raised high.
Noticing Wen Zhuojin’s arrival, the agitated kitten turned to look at her and meowed a few times, as if complaining.
Wen Zhuojin cautiously approached and reached out to the kitten.
The kitten tilted its head, looking at her with its large, clear eyes.
Wen Zhuojin gently picked it up, and the kitten didn’t resist, instead nuzzling into her arms.
The kitten’s body was warm and soft, its fur smooth and silky. It smelled faintly of the floral water Yan Qinglan usually used.
Wen Zhuojin’s heart raced. She carefully examined the kitten, noticing its snow-white fur without a single stray hair, its bright eyes, and its delicate pink nose.
It was an exceptionally beautiful kitten.
But what shocked Wen Zhuojin the most was the kitten’s demeanor. It looked at her with a mix of familiarity and affection, its gaze so similar to Yan Qinglan’s that it was uncanny.
“Sister?” Wen Zhuojin tentatively called out.
The kitten meowed in response, its voice soft and sweet.
Wen Zhuojin’s heart trembled. She hugged the kitten tightly, her mind in turmoil.
How could this be? Sister has turned into a cat?
But the kitten’s behavior and the familiar scent made it impossible to deny.
Wen Zhuojin quickly dismissed the palace maids and carried the kitten back to the Zichen Hall.
She placed the kitten on the bed and sat down, staring at it in disbelief.
The kitten sat gracefully, its tail curled around its body, looking at Wen Zhuojin with a calm and composed expression, just like Yan Qinglan usually did.
“Sister, is it really you?” Wen Zhuojin asked softly.
The kitten meowed again, its voice carrying a hint of helplessness.
Wen Zhuojin’s heart ached. She reached out to stroke the kitten’s head, and it leaned into her touch, purring softly.
The kitten’s reaction was so much like Yan Qinglan’s that Wen Zhuojin couldn’t help but believe it.
But how had this happened? And how could she change Yan Qinglan back?
Wen Zhuojin’s mind raced, but she forced herself to stay calm. She couldn’t panic. She had to figure out a solution.
“Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to change you back,” Wen Zhuojin said, gently holding the kitten.
The kitten meowed softly, its eyes filled with trust.
Wen Zhuojin’s heart softened. She hugged the kitten tightly, feeling its warmth and softness.
For now, she would take care of Yan Qinglan in this form and find a way to reverse whatever had happened.
Wen Zhuojin called for the palace maid to prepare some food for the kitten. Yan Qinglan, now a cat, would need to eat.
The palace maid brought a plate of finely chopped fish and some milk.
Wen Zhuojin placed the food in front of the kitten, but it only sniffed it and turned away, clearly uninterested.
“Sister, you have to eat something,” Wen Zhuojin said, trying to coax the kitten.
The kitten meowed in protest, its expression almost human-like in its reluctance.
Wen Zhuojin couldn’t help but laugh. Even as a cat, Yan Qinglan was still picky about food.
She picked up a small piece of fish and held it to the kitten’s mouth. After some hesitation, the kitten finally took a bite.
Wen Zhuojin continued to feed the kitten, feeling a strange sense of déjà vu. It was as if she was taking care of a child.
Once the kitten had eaten its fill, Wen Zhuojin held it in her arms and gently stroked its fur.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you,” Wen Zhuojin whispered.
The kitten purred softly, nuzzling into her chest.
Wen Zhuojin’s heart melted. She had never imagined that Yan Qinglan, her strong and composed wife, could be so adorable as a kitten.
But she couldn’t let herself get too distracted. She had to find a way to change Yan Qinglan back.
Wen Zhuojin summoned the palace’s most knowledgeable scholars and doctors, as well as some Taoist priests and Buddhist monks, to discuss the situation.
However, no one had ever heard of a person turning into a cat. They were all at a loss.
Wen Zhuojin grew increasingly anxious. She couldn’t let Yan Qinglan remain like this.
In the following days, Wen Zhuojin took care of the kitten while secretly searching for a solution.
The kitten, now clearly Yan Qinglan, followed Wen Zhuojin everywhere, refusing to leave her side.
At night, the kitten would curl up in Wen Zhuojin’s arms, purring softly as it fell asleep.
Wen Zhuojin couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of peace. Despite the bizarre situation, having Yan Qinglan close, even in this form, brought her comfort.
One night, as Wen Zhuojin was working on some documents, the kitten jumped onto the desk and pawed at the papers.
“Sister, don’t mess with those,” Wen Zhuojin said, gently moving the kitten aside.
The kitten meowed in protest but soon settled in Wen Zhuojin’s lap, watching her work.
Wen Zhuojin couldn’t help but smile. Even as a cat, Yan Qinglan was still her diligent and supportive partner.
Days turned into weeks, and Wen Zhuojin continued her search for a solution.
One day, an old Taoist priest arrived at the palace, claiming to have heard of Wen Zhuojin’s plight.
The priest examined the kitten and performed a series of rituals. Finally, he declared that the transformation was the result of a rare curse, but it could be reversed with a special talisman.
Wen Zhuojin was overjoyed. She immediately had the priest prepare the talisman.
That night, as the kitten slept in Wen Zhuojin’s arms, she placed the talisman on its forehead and recited the incantation the priest had taught her.
A soft glow enveloped the kitten, and Wen Zhuojin held her breath.
When the light faded, Yan Qinglan lay in her arms, human once more.
“Sister!” Wen Zhuojin exclaimed, tears of relief streaming down her face.
Yan Qinglan blinked, disoriented for a moment before realizing what had happened.
“A Zhuo…” Yan Qinglan whispered, her voice hoarse.
Wen Zhuojin hugged her tightly, never wanting to let go.
The two of them stayed like that for a long time, savoring the moment.
Finally, Yan Qinglan pulled back slightly and looked at Wen Zhuojin with a teasing smile.
“So, how was I as a cat?” she asked.
Wen Zhuojin laughed. “Adorable, But I prefer you like this.”
Yan Qinglan smiled and leaned in to kiss Wen Zhuojin.
The nightmare was over, and they were together again.
