My Alpha Has a Dual Personality (GL) - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Her legs felt weak, utterly pathetic, but thankfully her willpower was strong enough to keep her from dropping to her knees on the spot.
She forced herself to stand up.
Jiang Muning reached for the slippers in her hand.
Chi Yunhan let out a sharp shout, “Don’t move.”
Jiang Muning’s fingers froze, and the two slippers fell to the floor with a thud. Chi Yunhan swallowed hard, then heard Jiang Muning whisper in her ear, “You’re going into heat…”
Each word was soft and tingling, like a flame that could ignite desire.
Chi Yunhan shuffled along the wall, and the moment she stepped forward, she bolted out, not daring to look back.
She ran a few laps in the cold wind, her body heating up, burning until her face flushed red. Jiang Muning had said she smelled good, that her pheromones were fragrant.
Having a wife was great—really, truly great!
Chi Yunhan ran until she was nearly exhausted before heading back. The pheromone scent in the house had dissipated somewhat, not as overpowering as before. Jiang Muning must have used perfume to mask it, as the pheromone smell was now mixed with other scents.
But Chi Yunhan’s sense of smell was sharp, and she could still detect a faint sweetness amid the forest-like fragrance. Wow, Jiang Muning’s pheromones were sweet.
Jiang Muning stood on the balcony, seemingly letting the cold breeze blow away her pheromones, looking just a tiny bit adorable.
Heh heh.
That evening, they made a simple meal. Jiang Muning didn’t complain, and Chi Yunhan felt quite satisfied. Her cooking wasn’t great, but judging by Jiang Muning’s expression, she seemed easy to please.
After dinner, Chi Yunhan tidied up while looking for something in the living room. Jiang Muning was using her dining table to work, each of them focused on their own tasks.
“What are you looking for?” Jiang Muning glanced at her.
“The bag I brought back from the rescue station.” Chi Yunhan scratched her head, unable to remember where she’d put it. She rummaged through the sofa, found nothing, then checked the cabinets. In the end, it was Jiang Muning who handed it to her.
“Thanks.” Chi Yunhan felt a bit embarrassed and said, “I’ll look through the rescue handbook tonight and check on your symptoms. We can learn about each other. My medical report is in there too—want to take a look?”
It was kind of embarrassing, after all, since this was deeply personal stuff.
But before she could finish, Jiang Muning took the bag back and said, “No need. You don’t have to look.”
“Huh? Why not?” Chi Yunhan was puzzled.
Jiang Muning’s expression was cold. “Because it’s unnecessary. I’m not interested in you either.”
Chi Yunhan didn’t have time to feel hurt before Jiang Muning grabbed her laptop, went back to her room, and shut the door. When she came out again, she tossed an inhibitor to Chi Yunhan.
Before Jiang Muning arrived, Chi Yunhan had already tidied the apartment. It was a rental, a two-bedroom, one-living-room place, just eighty square meters. Though small, it was enough for two people.
The two bedrooms faced each other, with a small bathroom in between, convenient for looking after one another.
Chi Yunhan didn’t rush to take the inhibitor when she returned to her room. Instead, she poured a cup of hot water and sipped it slowly. Even though Jiang Muning wouldn’t let her see the handbook, she still needed to review it herself.
This was for her own sake and Jiang Muning’s. Their pheromone compatibility was only 30%, which was quite low. If something went wrong, she could be in danger and might even harm Jiang Muning.
She asked a staff member for an electronic copy and lay on her bed to read it. Before deciding to provide rescue, Chi Yunhan had reviewed Jiang Muning’s medical report on the system.
Excessive mental strength, pheromone imbalance, memory decline—she couldn’t control her instincts to release pheromones, which led to mental instability and neurological issues. In mild cases, it caused memory loss; in severe cases, it could turn her into a complete lunatic.
Chi Yunhan had seen this condition before in the news: a single Alpha, driven mad by excessive mental strength, killed the girlfriend she had just started dating.
Chi Yunhan shivered, a bit scared.
She quickly flipped to the last page to read the doctor’s advice, eager to find ways to guide Jiang Muning and resolve her symptoms as soon as possible.
Then she saw—
Cause of the issue: In most cases, this condition arises from being single for too long without ever undergoing mental strength or pheromone guidance, leading to worsening symptoms. The best recommendation is immediate guidance—the sooner, the better. If necessary, engage in more sexual bonding.
Chi Yunhan: “…”
She couldn’t laugh. It was the year 9999—who wasn’t a lifelong singleton?
Chi Yunhan rolled over, clutching her fist and pounding her pillow.
Damn it! Damn it!
Hahaha!
…
The next morning, when Chi Yunhan saw Jiang Muning, her cheeks ached a bit—she still wanted to laugh. She rubbed her face, and Jiang Muning glanced at her, looking slightly puzzled.
It was early, just after waking up, so they didn’t talk much. They ate a simple breakfast and headed downstairs to go to work.
As Chi Yunhan was about to lock the door, Jiang Muning asked, “Did you bring your bus card?”
Chi Yunhan pushed the door open and went back inside.
“Laptop, work ID…”
“…”
Chi Yunhan ran back and forth, panting. Wasn’t it supposed to be *her* with the memory decline? Why did it feel like *she* was the one with the problem?
Jiang Muning tore off a piece of paper and handed it to her, listing the essentials for work. Chi Yunhan checked it and gathered the last of her things.
“Sorry, it’s my first time rescuing an Alpha. I’m not used to it yet.” Truthfully, it was her first time going to work with her wife, and she was a bit excited. She was so focused on looking at her wife that she forgot to bring anything.
Jiang Muning glanced at her neck. “The matching ring.”
“I’ll put it on now!” Chi Yunhan quickly pulled a black choker from her bag, put it on, and tucked the small key pendant inside her shirt. “The matching ring is pretty useful. If you feel unwell, you can find me directly.”
If one of their pheromones spiked, the matching ring would alert the other, signaling that their partner was aroused or going into heat. Then, well, things would happen.
As Chi Yunhan adjusted it, she glanced at Jiang Muning, who was also wearing hers—a black choker with delicate lace edges that accentuated her swan-like neck, pale and slender.
Then Jiang Muning pulled out a black object, like a mask or muzzle, and placed it on top of her briefcase. It was an Alpha bite guard, which could only be unlocked with the key on Chi Yunhan’s choker.
Maybe because they’d spent a day together and grown familiar with each other’s pheromones, Chi Yunhan’s mind conjured an inappropriate image: Jiang Muning with red eyes, wearing the black bite guard, breathing heavily.
The normally proud woman lowered her head, kneeling by her side. Though she was a fierce beast, unwilling at heart, she had no choice but to submit.
Chi Yunhan really wanted to put a chain on that choker.
“Inhibitor. You’re getting fragrant again,” Jiang Muning said, looking at her sternly.
Chi Yunhan dug out the inhibitor from her bag, sprayed herself several times, and as she capped it, she heard Jiang Muning say in confusion, “This cheap perfume hasn’t gone out of business?”
What kind of scent could a budget inhibitor have? They used it daily, and if it was too fragrant, not only would the materials be expensive, but it could turn into artificial pheromones, tempting Alphas. It was already good enough that the inhibitor didn’t smell like bug spray.
Seeing Jiang Muning’s disdainful expression, Chi Yunhan decided to tweak the scent next time to avoid bothering her.
The bus was crowded, but they boarded early and found a seat. The mix of chaotic smells was overwhelming and could make you nauseous after a while.
Chi Yunhan whispered to Jiang Muning, “If you need me, use the distress signal on the matching ring. I’ll come right away to help guide you.”
“I don’t need guidance. Just don’t get too fragrant.”
Really, if she didn’t need it, fine, but why keep saying she smelled good?
Chi Yunhan didn’t know whether to feel down about Jiang Muning’s coldness or thrilled by her compliments.
They didn’t talk much after that, and Chi Yunhan felt awkward. When Jiang Muning got off at the PFE company entrance, Chi Yunhan’s brow twitched, her mind flashing to her chat with Twilight.
Chi Yunhan asked, “You work here?”
Jiang Muning nodded.
Chi Yunhan asked again, “What’s your boss like?”
Jiang Muning said, “I don’t have a boss.”
“…Huh? No boss? Then what’s your job…” Chi Yunhan was momentarily confused but then thought it impossible. How could a capitalist go to a rescue station to match with an Omega?
She looked at Jiang Muning with pity, thinking she must have suffered greatly to say something like her boss was gone.
Yeah, sometimes she felt having a boss like Twilight made her want to drop dead. Of course, she only thought that privately. In person, she’d say, “Wishing you good health, success in all things, a long life, and all your dreams come true.”
Jiang Muning asked, “Anything else you want to ask?”
“I just didn’t expect we’d dislike the same things. Looks like we’re pretty compatible, huh,” Chi Yunhan said softly. “The bus is leaving. You get off first. I’ll pick you up tonight.”
Jiang Muning got off, clutching her briefcase, and walked step by step into PFE. When she reached the entrance, Chi Yunhan could no longer watch. The bus lurched forward to the next stop, nearly sending Chi Yunhan’s head into the ceiling.
She thought she should probably buy a car.
In high spirits, Chi Yunhan got to her company, poured herself a coffee, and hummed a tune as she walked.
Her colleagues gathered around, excitedly asking, “Did you win over the team leader? Did you finally get Twilight?”
“Twilight?” Chi Yunhan started her computer. They peeked at her screen, where her chat with Twilight was still stuck on yesterday’s messages. Twilight had said, “I’ll never be swayed by you, so save your breath.”
So arrogant it’d make anyone furious.
Everyone glanced at Chi Yunhan’s neck, worried her pheromones might spike. Though Omegas weren’t affected by each other’s pheromones, there could still be a sense of pressure.
Surprisingly, Chi Yunhan wasn’t angry. She said, “Why get mad at Twilight? I’ve got a pretty good temper. She doesn’t affect me.”
She coughed twice, wanting to ask them about the matching ring on her neck, but they thought she was warning them to work hard and not joke around. They scattered like rabbits, each rushing to their tasks.
Holding her coffee, Chi Yunhan casually said, “The Alpha I’m rescuing is worlds apart from Twilight. So soft.”
She felt shy saying this since their relationship wasn’t official. Calling her a “girlfriend” wasn’t right, and “wife” was even less appropriate. After praising her for a bit, Chi Yunhan added, “I’m pretty satisfied. I’ll bring her to meet you all sometime.”
“Awesome!” a colleague said. “Why not today? Call her over after work, and we’ll grab dinner together.”
Chi Yunhan nodded, feeling content, and continued chatting with Twilight, sending over a revised perfume bottle design.
She thought to herself, *No big deal. This time, I won’t let myself get pissed off. I’m a mature, steady woman with a family now.*
But just half an hour and a few hundred messages later…
Chi Yunhan stretched her neck with one hand and held a mug of ice water she’d just grabbed with the other. Oh, this Twilight was something else.
She’d never met a client so infuriating. What kind of comment was, “Unless you find something uglier, your design will always be the ugliest in my heart”? Or, “My suggestion is you give up designing”?
Was that human language? Was it?!
Thank goodness she had a wife now and couldn’t lose her cool. She had to stay within the bounds of morality, or she’d storm into PFE with a knife and take Twilight down.
…
On the other side.
Jiang Muning narrowed her eyes, sitting at her desk, flipping through documents with one hand and adjusting the choker on her neck with the other, occasionally shifting it.
Her secretary couldn’t hold back and asked, “President Jiang, how’s the Omega partner you were matched with? Are you two getting along?”
Jiang Muning fiddled with the choker again and hummed in response.
It was good, just a bit… unrestrained.
Thinking about her hundreds of times a day and always wanting to do *that* with her…
