My Alpha Has a Dual Personality (GL) - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
A group of people decided to go out and have fun, naturally not to some refined, cultured place. They craved indulgence, a carefree and exhilarating thrill. So, with high spirits, they went to build LEGO sets together.
After finishing, they headed to a forest park for a barbecue. As office workers, they had to consider their budgets when going out. A small-time designer like Chi Yunhan couldn’t afford high-end bars.
Everyone chipped in a bit of money, ensuring they could have fun and eat well.
They bought some alcohol, but Chi Yunhan, wanting to let loose, didn’t feel like drinking. Her wife was at home alone, and it didn’t seem right to go out partying. Besides, her alcohol tolerance was low—two or three drinks would leave her drunk. What if she stumbled home and scared her wife?
Her colleague, Little Li, laughed, “Then bring your wife out! You promised we’d meet her, but you’ve never brought her along.”
Zuo Yijing chimed in, “Yeah, team leader, call her out to eat with us!”
Chi Yunhan felt a bit embarrassed. She just wanted to stay out late and see her wife transform. She brushed it off, saying, “Next time, next time. Today’s not the day. Why call her out for a barbecue? I’ll just have a drink.”
If she really invited her wife, it’d have to be a proper restaurant with flowers, balloons, and a candlelit dinner. She could be rough around the edges, but with her wife, she had to go for a romantic, elegant vibe.
With alcohol, it was all or nothing—either don’t touch a glass or drink until you’re tipsy. One person had a bit, another poured a cup, and soon Chi Yunhan started feeling dizzy.
As the sky darkened, egged on by the group, Chi Yunhan couldn’t resist pulling out her phone and dialing a number. Everyone crowded around to listen as she coughed twice and said, “I’m out barbecuing with friends. I’ll be back late.”
The person on the other end let out a soft “Oh.”
Chi Yunhan felt awkward with so many people listening. She added, “I’m at the forest park. Don’t wait up for me. Go to sleep.”
Jiang Muning replied, “…Oh.” Then she added, “I always sleep alone anyway.”
Chi Yunhan said, “I’m not drunk, just a little dizzy.”
The atmosphere grew awkward. Chi Yunhan’s urge to show off fizzled out. She quickly made an excuse, hung up, and glumly helped the group clean up.
About half an hour later, her phone rang again. The voice on the other end said, “I’m near the park.”
“?”
“Side gate,” Jiang Muning said before hanging up.
The group stared at Chi Yunhan, their envious eyes practically brimming with tears. Chi Yunhan hurriedly wiped her mouth, strutting out with a swagger that ignored everyone else. “I’m heading out. You all take care!”
Her head still spinning, she rushed toward the side gate, nearly bumping into people several times.
Chi Yunhan thought Jiang Muning wouldn’t wait for her, but as soon as she stepped outside, she spotted her by a sycamore tree. Jiang Muning stood tall and straight, the tree’s shadow cast at her feet. Her expression was cold, almost gloomy, perhaps impatient from waiting.
Chi Yunhan walked up to her and asked, “Did you come specially to pick me up?”
Jiang Muning shook her head. “No, I was working nearby.”
Chi Yunhan felt a pang of disappointment. “I just came out to have fun with friends. I didn’t do anything wild. I never mess around.”
Jiang Muning looked down, fiddling with her phone.
“Are you even listening?” Chi Yunhan stepped in front of her. “Really, I was just eating barbecue, thinking of you and feeling happy. Then I had some drinks.”
“What’s there to be happy about thinking of me?” Jiang Muning raised her hand, and a car pulled up beside them. She opened the door and got in, sitting in the back. Chi Yunhan climbed in after her, settling next to her.
Chi Yunhan pulled out her phone to transfer money to the group and chat a bit. Squinting, she glanced at the car seat, then at the driver in the front.
She turned to Jiang Muning and asked, “My colleagues said I’m sitting in some new model. Is this car expensive?”
“Not expensive. Average,” Jiang Muning replied.
Chi Yunhan texted her colleagues back: “My wife says it’s not expensive. Average.”
Her colleagues responded, “…Is your wife super rich?”
This was a limited-edition, new-model Phantom, priced at tens of millions in the market—only one in the entire city! They were stunned!
Chi Yunhan tilted her head and asked, “Are you rich?”
“What kind of rich?” Jiang Muning asked. “Movable assets, real estate, stocks, securities, or funds? Villas, estates, or company profits?”
Chi Yunhan’s head spun. Why was it so complicated? For her, it was simple—she had no money.
Her modest salary covered daily expenses, and long-term investments weren’t even a thought.
Jiang Muning asked again, “Which aspect are you talking about?”
The alcohol was hitting hard now, and Chi Yunhan just wanted to burp. Her brain couldn’t keep up. She looked at the driver and said, “I mean… I mean, cab fare? Yeah, do you have money?”
Jiang Muning said, “I don’t pay for cabs.”
Chi Yunhan typed back, “My wife has no money.”
After sending it, she looked at Jiang Muning seriously and lectured, “You have to pay for cabs. Be a law-abiding citizen, got it?”
Jiang Muning ignored her, scooting farther away. Chi Yunhan slid closer, but Jiang Muning drew a long line in the air with her finger. “Stay back. You reek of alcohol. Booze makes people lose their senses.”
“Fine,” Chi Yunhan said, sitting back regretfully. Her eyes stayed glued to Jiang Muning, occasionally lifting her phone to check messages from her colleagues.
When they got out of the car, Chi Yunhan pulled a large bill from her pocket and handed it to the driver. He protested, but she stuffed it through the window, saying, “Driving’s tough work. Thanks for bringing us back tonight.”
The driver looked helplessly at Jiang Muning, who turned and walked away, clearly uninterested. Watching their retreating figures, the driver sighed inwardly. The boss’s matched omega this time was refreshingly down-to-earth.
So, he picked up the two hundred bucks.
The night was dark as ink, their shadows stretched long by the streetlights.
Jiang Muning walked ahead, pausing every few steps. Chi Yunhan trailed behind, swaying unsteadily, nearly tumbling into a flowerbed a few times.
Jiang Muning said, “You’re drunk.”
“No, it’s not the booze—it’s me getting drunk on myself.”
Chi Yunhan’s words didn’t connect, one hand clutching her bag as she staggered. She followed Jiang Muning closely, who kept her hands in her pockets, showing no intention of helping her.
Chi Yunhan hopped closer, taking a light sniff. “Ginger, pepper, cinnamon, bay leaves… and ribs.”
She murmured, “This scent’s all wrong. You need citrus, lemon, a touch of basil… mint, too, and something else…”
“Right! Your pheromones—sweet ones!”
Jiang Muning stopped in her tracks. “I’m not wearing perfume. This isn’t a perfume scent.”
Chi Yunhan blinked at her, her gaze wavering as she looked into Jiang Muning’s eyes. “I smell it. It’s that kind of scent…”
“It’s from cooking,” Jiang Muning said. “I made dinner at home tonight.”
Chi Yunhan swallowed, her throat dry and itchy. She finished her thought, “…It’s the scent of home. Were you cooking dinner to wait for me?”
“No, I ate alone,” Jiang Muning said flatly, walking quickly. Chi Yunhan followed, sniffing the scent on her.
The scent of home was a fragrance, too, but modern people, far from kitchens, preferred trendier lifestyles. Since ancient times, people loved high-end scents.
Floral, fruity, metallic…
Chi Yunhan squinted, redefining the scent of home for the first time. “This smell is so nice on you.”
She rambled on, counting spices on her fingers. As Jiang Muning pressed the elevator button, she said seriously, “My pheromones aren’t sweet.”
“They are, they’re very…”
Before she could finish, the elevator doors opened. Chi Yunhan stepped in and forgot what she was saying. As the elevator ascended, she stumbled, nearly crashing into the wall. Jiang Muning caught her just in time, holding her close.
In the tight space, their breaths mingled, the scent of pheromones close and warm, spreading from where they touched.
The elevator stopped at the fifth floor, and someone outside saw them, quickly stepping back. “Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt.”
Jiang Muning frowned. “You’re smelling different again.”
She let go, and Chi Yunhan, leaning against the wall, grinned, her face flushed. “Don’t talk nonsense. My pheromones have no scent.”
“They do. Very fragrant,” Jiang Muning said firmly.
Chi Yunhan muttered softly, “They don’t, really… My glands are broken…”
But which omega wouldn’t love their alpha calling them fragrant?
She nodded vigorously. “If you say it’s fragrant, then it’s fragrant. Maybe very fragrant.” Lifting her sleeve, she only smelled barbecue. “I think it’s pretty fragrant, too.”
Chi Yunhan’s apartment was on the eighteenth floor, quite high up. They exchanged a few words before reaching it. Chi Yunhan fumbled with her keys, taking several tries to get them into the lock.
Inside, she flopped onto the sofa and grabbed her laptop. She remembered her client, Twilight, with a deadline tomorrow. If she didn’t submit, she’d be packing her bags.
“I need to work!” She rubbed her eyes, focusing on the screen, her sketches all over the place. “This client is a nightmare. So picky, always making me revise, but never saying what she wants. Just tells me to imagine it!”
Jiang Muning asked curiously, “Is designing based on a perfume’s scent that hard?”
“How would I know the scent? I’ve never even smelled it. They say it’s confidential, and the perfumery hasn’t given me a sample. They just tell me to draw.” Chi Yunhan fumed. “Then she keeps rejecting my work. I ask what she likes, and she says she doesn’t. She just hates me.”
Jiang Muning listened quietly, then said after a pause, “Your client is deliberately targeting you.”
Feeling that wasn’t harsh enough, she added, “She’s just wasting your time. No matter what you draw, she’ll reject it.”
With her wife backing her up, Chi Yunhan felt much better. Touched, she said, “You’re so right. I wish you were my client.” After some flattery, she added, “Go take a shower. I’ll draw a bit more. I’ll submit it tomorrow and let fate decide.”
As Jiang Muning headed to the bathroom, she heard Chi Yunhan wail, “Oh, God, please have mercy and help me out!”
Jiang Muning glanced back and offered, “Check their website. They usually tease upcoming releases. For summer, it might be a cool, refreshing scent. Do you know what a summer scent is?”
Chi Yunhan nodded eagerly. “I get it! I know perfumes! Those scents are light, fresh, and watery, often with fruity notes and subtle florals, calming and serene.”
She added, “So the bottle can’t be too bold or fiery.”
Jiang Muning shook her head. “Sometimes a fresh scent can be bold and fiery. In summer, too much coolness can turn spicy. Check their flagship series. If you have time, try sampling the fragrance.”
Chi Yunhan nodded, staring at her laptop and searching: ‘PFE Seasonal New Fragrance’.
The last release was “minimalist chic,” a trendy scent—not sensual, but simple, clean, with an office-professional vibe. The bottle was plain, square or rectangular, with minimal design, maybe a fancy cap at most.
Scrolling down, she found PFE’s new seasonal teaser!
The next theme was: ‘Floral and Herbal’!
Damn it! How had she missed this?
Looking at the scent description, her previous designs were way off. She grabbed a stylus, sketching on her tablet. It was technical work, and after drinking, she soon started dozing off.
A tap on her shoulder woke her.
Chi Yunhan mumbled sleepily, “You’re here. Your body wash smells so good.”
Jiang Muning let out a soft “Hmm,” wearing only a white shirt, still damp from the shower, clinging to her skin in places, revealing a hint of pink.
“Your drawing’s a mess,” she said, glancing at the screen.
The laptop was covered in chaotic lines. Chi Yunhan asked, “What kind do you like?”
“What I like…”
In her hazy state, Chi Yunhan felt someone whisper in her ear, “I like bold, wild, maybe even lascivious ones… like tuberose, full of desire.”
Tuberose, also known as night-blooming jasmine, was the perfume world’s flower of desire.
Its scent was rich, heady, with a raw, suppressed intensity, yet wildly passionate in the dark, long-lasting. Many found it overwhelming, but those who suited it carried a vivid, sensual allure.
Chi Yunhan had once blended this scent.
Sleepily, she opened her eyes, dazed, catching a glimpse of the prim and proper Jiang Muning sitting beside her, unbuttoning her white shirt one by one, revealing the full curves beneath delicate white lace…
What a beautiful tuberose.
Jiang Muning raised an eyebrow, asking softly, “Need my help?”
