My Alpha Has a Dual Personality (GL) - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Chi Yunhan cursed Chi Yurorong with unrestrained gusto.
People from several departments gathered to watch the commotion, and Lu Xiangyuan came from the production department to lend Chi Yunhan a hand. All eyes were on the two of them.
Logically, Chi Yunhan avoiding dismissal should have been cause for celebration. As her sister, Chi Yurorong, who usually took such good care of her, should have been thrilled. Yet, her face fell, looking utterly dejected.
It was baffling.
“Because we’re plastic sisters!” Chi Yunhan shouted with dramatic flair, determined to expose Chi Yurorong’s true colors.
One of Chi Yurorong’s admirers, eager to salvage her reputation, chimed in, “That’s not how you use ‘plastic sisters.’ So uneducated.”
Chi Yunhan laughed, “Right, right, I’m suffering from my lack of culture. She’s more of a white lotus, a shameless drama queen. You and her are the real plastic sisters, Fang Mengmiao. You’re the smart one.”
Fang Mengmiao’s face turned into a palette of colors as she hurried to Chi Yurorong’s side, saying, “Yurorong, Yurorong, don’t listen to her nonsense.”
“I’m fine…” Chi Yurorong said, but her nose felt uncomfortable. Just moments ago, Chi Yunhan’s fist had landed squarely on it, and every breath stung painfully.
Chi Yunhan wasn’t good for much, but her punches were solid. One swing felt like it could knock her nose clean off.
Steadying herself, Chi Yurorong spoke softly, “I just want you to have better opportunities. You’re my little sister—how could I ever harm you?”
“Oh? So when you said you hated me, found me disgusting, wished I’d die, and hoped I’d fall to my death from the building, that was all a joke?” Chi Yunhan shot back. “Was it a misunderstanding that you schemed to make everyone hate me?”
Chi Yurorong frowned. “Do you really think I’d say something like that?”
“No, you wouldn’t…” Chi Yunhan paused, mulling it over for a moment. Everyone watched her, including Chi Yurorong, who seemed unsure of what Chi Yunhan was thinking.
Then Chi Yunhan continued, “Right, you said you’d get me into the perfumery room to become a perfumer. You promised to talk to Twilight and report to the higher-ups. When are you keeping that promise?”
Chi Yurorong’s expression shifted, but before she could respond, Lu Xiangyuan quickly added, “Yeah, Yurorong, you promised her back then.”
Chi Yurorong froze. How could she have said such a thing?
But Chi Yunhan turned to Zuo Yijing. “You were in the office the whole time, right? You heard it all?”
Zuo Yijing thought for a moment. Chi Yurorong was usually kind to Chi Yunhan, so it wasn’t surprising she’d say something like that. She nodded, then wondered to herself: If Chi Yurorong said it, why wasn’t she admitting it?
Chi Yurorong’s expression was quite a sight.
Chi Yunhan clapped her hands. “Looks like you’re all talk and no action, just stirring up trouble for me. My office colleagues know to bring me milk or make coffee, but you? You just talk.”
The office crowd felt a bit embarrassed by the praise, but… it kind of made sense.
Chi Yurorong was left awkward and speechless, thoroughly shut down.
She could only muster a dry, “I’ll think about it. Since you nailed the design, just keep it up.” Then she pulled out her phone, pretending to take a call, claiming she had something urgent to handle.
As she hurriedly left, Chi Yunhan wasn’t done. She followed, shouting after her, “Don’t forget to get me into the perfumery room! You promised, and I’m waiting for you to come through!”
Her voice carried across several departments. Chi Yurorong had already humiliated her in the company, so Chi Yunhan decided to go all in and throw shame to the wind.
Chi Yurorong, on the other hand, was the company’s pure and elegant queen. With Chi Yunhan’s outburst, everyone’s attention turned to her. But Chi Yurorong would never get her into the perfumery room.
Wouldn’t everyone see through her true intentions, whether genuine or fake?
If they couldn’t, they were fools!
Chi Yunhan was Twilight’s personally approved designer. She could strut, crawl, or roll through the company, and no one could touch her.
Riding high, how could she stay silent?
Chi Yunhan marched back with her hands on her hips, brimming with confidence.
Truth be told, she wasn’t one for the spotlight and had no powerful backing. She tolerated what she could, but when she couldn’t, she acted. Today was different.
Sitting in her chair, fingers resting on her knees, she felt a touch of unreality. She quietly asked a stunned Zuo Yijing, “Did Twilight really approve my design? What did HR say?”
Zuo Yijing nodded repeatedly. “It’s true! The HR manager said so! If you don’t believe it, ask Twilight yourself. Don’t you have her contact?”
Chi Yunhan shook her head like a rattle. Twilight’s words were harsh. What if she asked, and Twilight said no, claiming she’d misheard?
Even if it was a dream, she wanted it to stay beautiful, not turn into a nightmare.
With that thought, she checked her work account and saw a bold reply under the email she’d sent: ‘Approved’.
She studied her draft carefully. The design was simple—a square bottle with intricate details when magnified.
The waist featured tuberose engravings, and the right side had a curved slant, like a woman’s delicate waist, graceful in the moonlight, full of allure, as if her clothes were about to be swept away by the wind…
Tuberose.
She’d been in such a rush today that she hadn’t fully recalled, but last night, someone had offered to help, saying they’d model for her. Their shirt hung half-off their elbow, and they’d asked if it was beautiful enough…
Chi Yunhan swallowed hard, then raised her hand.
Pin辣, Pinch yourself, wake up!
Chi Yunhan, you shameless fool! Jiang Muning is a shapeshifter—how could you think of her naked? You’re such a pervert!
You’re in heat, and your mind’s gone filthy.
Her phone pinged with a message on her personal account.
Jiang Muning: [Don’t think about me so much.]
[Hot.]
Hot?
She was feeling pretty hot herself.
…
That evening, Chi Yunhan stretched and left work.
She hadn’t done much all day except spread the word that Chi Yurorong was getting her into the perfumery room, saying her sister was working hard for her sake.
Her throat was sore from all the talking.
She went to meet Lu Xiangyuan to leave together.
Lu Xiangyuan had a second-hand electric scooter and drove her to PFE, casually asking about her and Jiang Muning. “What does your wife do at PFE?”
“Office grunt!” Chi Yunhan said. “Stands all day, works the assembly line, does quality checks.”
“You never asked her?” Lu Xiangyuan said.
“When we matched, her profile said it all. Just a low-level worker like me.” Chi Yunhan sighed wistfully. “PFE doesn’t let omegas in, so I’ve never been to her company.”
Indeed, PFE was strict about its personnel.
Lu Xiangyuan comforted her. “Job discrimination is everywhere. PFE’s so strict because Twilight is incredible. There was a time when PFE’s sales tanked, and people were talking trash. She turned it around and brought the company back to its peak.”
Chi Yunhan had heard the story. Twilight’s reputation for being picky, serious, and decisive came from that. Plus, she didn’t like omegas and would only date female alphas.
It made sense. Twilight’s value was immense, leading the company to build her perfume empire. With countless employees worldwide, what were omegas to her?
Chi Yunhan said, “Back then, if I hadn’t been so shameless, the company wouldn’t have hired me. Omegas get rejected the moment they see our designation. The environment’s tough.”
Lu Xiangyuan nodded in agreement, then added, “I heard a rumor that Twilight doesn’t hate omegas for no reason. When she was eighteen, an omega bit her, and she got so sick she nearly died. PFE banned omegas for her safety.”
“Tch, that omega was awful,” Chi Yunhan said, putting herself in Twilight’s shoes. “That bite cost so many omegas their careers. Like me—back in my prime, PFE was my dream palace.”
She gritted her teeth. “That omega’s a historical villain! The root of all evil!”
Lu Xiangyuan laughed. “You can’t say that.”
Chi Yunhan said, “True. We omegas are proper. We don’t bite randomly—that’s an alpha thing. Rumors like that slander people. Alphas are no good.”
They chatted, veering into heated topics. As an omega, Chi Yunhan naturally sided with her kind. She added, “Of course, my wife’s an exception. She’s a polite, gentlemanly alpha who carries a bite-stopper and never bites.”
“You…”
“What?” Chi Yunhan caught on. “You’re an alpha too. I wasn’t talking about you—you’re an exception.”
Lu Xiangyuan: You shouldn’t be called Chi Yunhan. You should be Chi Double-Standards.
The companies weren’t far apart, just a ten-minute ride. Lu Xiangyuan pulled over and changed the subject. “Have you two… you know? Your pheromones feel stronger lately.”
Ugh, that made Chi Yunhan gloomy. They’d been together for half a month and hadn’t even held hands.
Lu Xiangyuan asked, “How long until your heat?”
“End of the month.”
“Be careful. She might be reserved, dropping hints you’re not catching.”
Chi Yunhan grew more frustrated. She’d hinted at Jiang Muning plenty of times, but Jiang Muning always rejected her. She saw no hints from her.
“She says no but means yes,” Lu Xiangyuan advised. “When a woman says don’t, she means don’t stop.”
Chi Yunhan was confused. “Isn’t that just forcing it?”
“It’s playing hard to get!” Lu Xiangyuan said. “I’ve been in relationships. I know.”
That convinced Chi Yunhan. She asked, “What does it mean when a woman keeps saying ‘oh’?”
Lu Xiangyuan faltered.
When a woman says ‘oh,’ she’s probably not interested.
Jiang Muning still hadn’t come out. Chi Yunhan had planned to introduce her to her friends to strengthen their bond, but Jiang Muning texted that she had to work late.
“No worries. Maybe next weekend,” Lu Xiangyuan said. “Don’t say you’re busy then. I’m heading back.”
Chi Yunhan waved goodbye and called Jiang Muning. She’d been waiting outside PFE so often that people recognized her, nodding as they passed.
Feeling shy, she stood behind a tree to call Jiang Muning. “What time do you get off? I’m waiting outside. Want me to order takeout?”
“I’ll have someone bring you up,” Jiang Muning said.
To PFE? Chi Yunhan’s heart raced, but she shook her head. “No way. Your company doesn’t allow omegas. How could I make you break the rules? There’s a café nearby—I’ll wait there.”
“I get off late,” Jiang Muning said. “Wait in the company’s guest lounge. That rule’s getting scrapped soon.”
“No can do!” Chi Yunhan said firmly. “Breaking rules gives haters ammunition.”
Like when she was late once, and Director Zhang called her out for being late every day, humiliating her in meetings.
Jiang Muning sounded exasperated. “If I say it’s fine, it’s fine.”
“I’m leaving. Don’t come down. Call me when you’re done,” Chi Yunhan said into the phone. “Be good.”
Jiang Muning went silent.
But the idea of serious Jiang Muning inviting her to the office, bending the rules, felt thrilling.
A woman abandoning principles was… hot.
Though Jiang Muning was opening a door for her, Chi Yunhan didn’t want to distract her. Boldly, she said, “Behave.”
“…Oh.”
Jiang Muning was fine, but Chi Yunhan was a mess—blushing, heart pounding. She quickly said, “I’m hanging up.”
There was no reply. After hanging up, Chi Yunhan felt Jiang Muning might be upset. A wave of regret hit her.
Was Jiang Muning hinting at an office rendezvous?
God, rejecting her like that was so clueless! Jiang Muning must be heartbroken!
I’m such a jerk!!
