My Alpha Has a Dual Personality (GL) - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Chi Yunhan was utterly exasperated!
No wonder they hadn’t even held hands yet—it was because she was too straightforward.
Chi Yunhan gritted her teeth in frustration!
It was all her own fault for being so useless; otherwise, they’d have kids running around by now!
Chi Yunhan sat in the café, propping her chin with one hand. She ordered a coffee, took two sips, found it a bit bitter, and tossed in a sugar cube.
While she was at it, she glanced at the group chat.
The work group was buzzing with gossip, saying that Twilight’s picky streak had flared up again. They were talking about how Chi Yurorong’s perfume was no good. Why? Apparently, Chi Yurorong’s perfume didn’t match the bottle Chi Yunhan had designed—it was missing that certain something.
For other things, a slight off-note could be overlooked, no big deal. But not with perfume. If the scent was off even a little, the top, middle, and base notes wouldn’t harmonize, turning a vibrant fragrance into a lifeless puddle.
And when it came to someone like Twilight, who was obsessively strict about perfumes and nitpicky to a fault, Chi Yurorong was in for a rough time. Twilight would tear her apart—good luck having any peace after that!
Chi Yunhan, having experienced Twilight’s sharp tongue firsthand, wondered if Chi Yurorong could handle it!
Let the wicked deal with the wicked! So satisfying!!! Absolutely thrilling!
Chi Yunhan mulled it over and typed: [Hey, don’t talk about Chi Yurorong like that. No matter how bad she is, she’s still my sister, QAQ.]
[Your words are stabbing my heart, so mad! I feel so bad for my sister. What perfume can’t make the cut? Twilight is just so annoying!]
[Twilight’s not that bad, though. She just chases perfection. Why can’t my sister pass? Because she’s upgraded from trash to waste, becoming even more perfect~]
[My sister is truly a good person. I believe she can definitely win Twilight over. After all, she’s single-handedly carried the company. No one can outdo her—she’s the company’s Sales First, absolutely amazing!]
Group members: [This vibe is a bit much…]
Zuo Yijing: [Team leader, I miss your fist more, QAQ.]
Li Pingwen: [Little Jing, can you stop with the QAQ? Now all I can see is the team leader’s ferocious face.]
Shan Qiuming: [Team leader, why do you hate Chi Yurorong so much? Isn’t she usually pretty nice to you? Got any juicy gossip?]
Zuo Yijing: [Little Shan, you’re bold, digging for gossip right from the source and asking her to hand you the scoop.]
Chi Yunhan: [Oh, come on, I have a great relationship with my sister. She’s just a big-hearted saint, gentle and beautiful, unmatched in the company. She’s the sky, she’s the earth, still the company’s pillar! Anyone who looks down on her can get lost—my sister is the best!]
Chi Yunhan: [Oh, and my sister said she’d get me into the perfumery lab. I had a dream as a kid to become a perfumer. She said her whole life is for me, and if I don’t become a perfumer, she doesn’t want to live. My sister is just so sweet, sob sob sob!]
Everyone: Blegh.
Of course, some didn’t gag—namely, Chi Yurorong’s fanboys.
Fang Mengmiao: [Don’t be all snarky and subtle—I’ve got screenshots!]
Chi Yunhan wasn’t worried about the chat logs not spreading; she’d sent that message to stir things up. Feeling grossed out, she picked up her coffee and chugged it.
Ugh, so bitter.
When was her wife coming? She really wanted to kiss her and shake off this mood.
…
PFE stood for Wild Perfume.
Simple and bold, even ambitious. Not every brand could call its products perfume—only PFE’s creations earned that title worldwide.
PFE’s history was astonishing. Once, a perfumer crafted a fragrance meant for the queen. But on the way, the bottle shattered, and the scent filled the entire palace. Princesses, the queen, and noble ladies fought over it.
The king, at his wit’s end, ordered the execution of whoever broke the bottle. No one expected it was the perfumer himself. After his death, his body, doused in the perfume, was devoured by vultures.
That perfume was called Wild Corpse.
Since then, no fragrance had surpassed that moment’s frenzy, when the entire palace went wild, and nobles chased after it.
At that moment, in PFE’s executive office.
The Secretary held a stack of documents, a sample perfume on the desk. Puzzled, she asked, “Director Jiang, why did you reject Chi’s product? Weren’t you satisfied with it before? The production team was ready to go.”
Six hours earlier, Director Jiang had been obsessed with this fragrance, testing three hundred sample bottles and planning to make it the flagship product.
But six hours later, Jiang Muning issued an urgent notice to halt production, scrutinizing the perfume’s formula.
“This fragrance isn’t up to standard,” Jiang Muning said coldly, glancing at the perfume before shifting her gaze to the computer screen.
The screen displayed a glass bottle design with elegant, delicate curves. After seeing it, she suddenly stopped all production.
“Why?” the Secretary asked.
“The perfume doesn’t match the design,” Jiang Muning said.
The Secretary was baffled. What did that mean?
Jiang Muning zoomed in on the design, studying its details. Frowning, she said, “I hadn’t seen the design before and thought the perfume was perfect. Now, it feels immature, like an early work.”
“An early work?” The Secretary was shocked. “If it’s an early work, Chi was already impressive. How did she not join PFE? We hold open recruitment every year.”
“No idea.” And no interest, either.
Jiang Muning said, “I’ll oversee this fragrance personally. Tell her if it doesn’t reach perfection, I’ll cancel the acquisition plan.”
The Secretary was stunned. Jiang Muning had been ready to buy the whole company for this perfume, and now she was ready to ditch it over one bottle.
This perfume was toxic.
She quickly asked, “Isn’t that too sudden?”
Jiang Muning said coldly, “If it can’t be perfected, it’s just waste water. As for the perfumer, she’s utterly ordinary, with no talent to speak of. What else could she offer to interest me?”
“What about the design?” the Secretary asked. If the perfume was scrapped, was the design useless too?
“No,” Jiang Muning said, looking at the drawing. “This is a perfect design, matching every fantasy in my mind. Every detail aligns with my taste—it’s a work of art.”
The Secretary: “?”
Talking about the design, why does it feel like you’re praising yourself?
Jiang Muning added, “Its designer worked hard.”
You can be ordinary, but the time and effort of a dedicated person yield results that demand respect.
The Secretary nodded, noting her instructions. If the perfume didn’t meet standards, they could arrange to meet the designer and buy the design.
Jiang Muning had the sample perfume taken away. As the Secretary was about to leave, Jiang Muning added, “Don’t call her Chi Yurorong anymore. Use Perfumer Chi or Miss Chi.”
The Secretary agreed, thinking, one moment paradise, the next hell. Jiang Muning was so fed up she didn’t even want to hear the perfumer’s name.
She asked, “What should we call her then?”
“Whatever.”
As the door closed, Jiang Muning stood, seemingly ready to leave. She adjusted her tie and smoothed her suit.
The Secretary waited to walk with her, then heard Jiang Muning say, seriously and solemnly, “Because my omega is also surnamed Chi.”
The Secretary was so shocked she nearly slipped and fell.
