My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 10
After downing her coffee in one go, Chi Yunhan felt a bit awkward continuing to sit in the café with just an empty cup. Lingering too long seemed impolite.
She flipped through the menu again, hesitating between ordering another coffee or a dessert. The desserts here were expensive—far pricier than those sold outside. As she pondered, the chair beside her was pulled out.
Chi Yunhan looked up to see a tall man in a suit, clearly an Alpha. He wore glasses perched on his nose and carried a laptop, the epitome of a white-collar elite.
“Mind if I sit here?” the Alpha asked politely.
Chi Yunhan tilted her head slightly. “Sorry, no,” she replied.
The Alpha seemed taken aback by her blunt refusal. “I’ve noticed you for a while now. Care to share a drink and maybe become friends?”
She frowned. “Why were you watching me?”
“Because you’re cute,” he said. “I’m a regular here—a member, actually. Could I get your contact info?”
Chi Yunhan stared at him, even more puzzled. “I’m not signing up for anything.”
The Alpha: “…”
Chi Yunhan: “And I don’t even like coffee much.”
The attempted pickup lasted only a few minutes before the Alpha retreated to his own seat. “She’s pretty, but what a shame—total straight girl,” he muttered. “These days, Omegas are hard to find. I really like them—so cute. Don’t get why so many people are into female Alphas.”
Sighing, he turned his head and noticed someone had joined Chi Yunhan at her table. She was eagerly sliding the menu toward the newcomer. “I think their coffee’s pretty good! Really tasty!” she said cheerfully.
The Alpha: “?”
His friend chuckled. “She’s not straight—just not into you. Keep it down. Alphas have sharp senses, and she’s already looking this way.”
The Alpha glanced over and met Jiang Muning’s icy gaze, a sharp glint flashing across his face. One reason he disliked female Alphas was their terrifying ferocity when provoked—their explosive strength could surpass even male Alphas.
Every Alpha possessed psychic energy, and Jiang Muning’s was exceptionally potent. Even a slight release carried an oppressive weight. The Alpha immediately felt uneasy and quickly grabbed his coffee to leave with his friend.
Never covet a female Alpha’s Omega. They’re fiercely jealous and volatile. If they unleash their psychic energy, you’ll regret it deeply.
Chi Yunhan, oblivious to the silent Alpha showdown, simply thought Jiang Muning was spacing out. She tapped the menu. “What’s wrong? Nothing catches your eye? There’s fruit tea on the back—people at the next table said it’s good… Huh? Where’d they go?”
“Probably drank too much and left,” Jiang Muning said.
“Oh, right. They were here when I arrived. So, what’ll you have? My treat.” Chi Yunhan’s finger trailed down to the couple’s set at the bottom—two matching coffees with a free dark chocolate mousse cake.
It seemed like a great deal to her.
But Jiang Muning barely glanced at it, ordering a black coffee instead. She frowned at Chi Yunhan. “Stop talking so much. It’s noisy.”
Jiang Muning stirred her coffee lightly, then added a sugar cube.
“…Oh.” Chi Yunhan looked around at the people nearby. Everyone was chatting—it wasn’t a library where silence was required—and she was practically dying from having to hold back.
After Jiang Muning finished her drink, Chi Yunhan asked again, “What do you think?”
“Not bad,” Jiang Muning replied indifferently.
Chi Yunhan said, “Earlier, the person next to us asked me to sign up for a membership card. I should’ve asked if there were any discounts. Then, when I come to wait for you after work, I could wait here instead of at your company’s entrance.”
Going once or twice was fine, but any more than that might invite gossip.
Jiang Muning said, “You can come inside the company.”
“No way,” Chi Yunhan said seriously. “I’m a person of principle. If your company has rules, we should follow them.”
“…Oh.”
Jiang Muning set her cup down and fell silent.
When they left, Jiang Muning went to pay and got a membership card. Coincidentally, there was a promotion that day—first-time top-ups came with a gift—and they received a chocolate mousse cake.
Seeing Jiang Muning return with the small cake, Chi Yunhan felt a little giddy. She carefully tucked the membership card away—this was a gift from her wife!
Truly, good fortune follows those in high spirits. Rounding it off, this still counted as them having a couples’ meal.
As they walked toward the bus stop, Chi Yunhan saw the pedestrian light turn green and happily stepped forward—only to be yanked back before her foot even touched the ground.
Before she could steady herself, a car roared past, missing her face by a hair’s breadth. Had she been hit, she would’ve been sent flying.
The shock hit her belatedly, her heart pounding wildly.
Jiang Muning held her hand and said, “It’s okay.”
The light was still green—the car had run a red.
Chi Yunhan took two deep breaths and looked down. The mousse cake they’d been given was now a collapsed mess, the chocolate and cream melted into a chaotic blob.
But Jiang Muning’s grip on her hand was firm and strong. If Jiang Muning hadn’t pulled her back so quickly, she’d be gone.
A strange feeling welled up inside her.
Jiang Muning was already on the phone with the police, reporting the license plate number and their location. “Yes, drunk driving,” she said.
Chi Yunhan added, “Over 90mg—I could smell it.”
Jiang Muning gave her a puzzled look. Chi Yunhan explained, “His window was down. The alcohol smell was strong and lingered—high concentration. And he was an Alpha.”
The police said they’d handle it immediately.
The matter was troublesome to deal with, but since neither of them was hurt, the driver would likely be detained for a couple of days. Chi Yunhan was ready to leave it at that.
But Jiang Muning stubbornly stood at the intersection. Chi Yunhan asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Waiting for traffic police,” Jiang Muning said. “This has to be taken seriously. If I hadn’t pulled you back, or if someone had been walking ahead of you, or if there’d been a car stopped there—this would’ve been a major accident.”
“Let it go, let’s just leave. The police will definitely punish him,” Chi Yunhan urged, pulling her away. Making too big a deal out of it might invite retaliation. Someone drunk enough to drive recklessly wasn’t a good person to begin with, and with Jiang Muning working nearby—plus the driver being an Alpha—things could get messy if they provoked him further.
Jiang Muning stayed silent.
“Come on, I’m still shaken up—my heart’s still pounding,” Chi Yunhan said, glancing sideways at their clasped hands. Warm. She wasn’t lying—her heart was pounding, but with a kind of excitement that was hard to put into words.
It was the first time she had held a girl’s hand, and the first time she had actively allowed someone to hold hers. She couldn’t help but grip Jiang Muning’s hand in return. Jiang Muning’s brows twitched slightly as she tried to pull her hand away, but Chi Yunhan held on tightly, refusing to let go.
“Let’s go eat,” Jiang Muning said.
Chi Yunhan wanted to agree, but she was afraid that once they went inside to eat, they wouldn’t hold hands anymore. Such a perfect opportunity—how could she let it slip by? “I just had coffee, so I’m not hungry right now,” Chi Yunhan said. “Let’s walk back.”
“Walk?” Jiang Muning gave her a strange look.
Even taking the bus would take twenty minutes, and walking would be nearly half an hour. Chi Yunhan shamelessly said, “I’m scared of cars right now.”
“…Oh.”
Chi Yunhan happily held Jiang Muning’s hand as they walked down the street, occasionally glancing over. The feeling of holding hands was truly special—a warmth that wasn’t her own, nestled in her palm.
The sky had already darkened, and their shadows stretched long under the streetlights. A couple passed by them, chatting and laughing, completely unaware that this was their first time holding hands.
They didn’t actually walk the whole way—it was too far. At the next intersection, they boarded the bus. The vehicle was crowded, and when Jiang Muning tried to pull away, Chi Yunhan tugged her back.
Chi Yunhan interlaced their fingers tightly.
Jiang Muning held onto a handrail with her free hand to steady herself and lowered her voice. “Stop holding hands.”
Chi Yunhan smirked. “I know you want to.” Then, mimicking Jiang Muning’s serious tone, she whispered in her ear, “There are so many people on the bus—it’s not good to be pulling and tugging like this.”
Jiang Muning: “?”
If pulling and tugging wasn’t good, then holding hands was the solution? What kind of logic was that?
Their hands parted briefly when they got off the bus. Chi Yunhan wanted to take Jiang Muning’s hand again, but Jiang Muning stuffed hers into her pockets, leaving no opportunity.
Chi Yunhan sighed. Her wife was just too shy.
When they entered the elevator, they stood in a corner. Chi Yunhan sidled up to Jiang Muning, who had nowhere to retreat. Chi Yunhan’s thoughts began to stir again.
Jiang Muning frowned at her. “What are you up to now?”
“We already held hands, so…” Chi Yunhan felt a little shy but couldn’t resist pushing her luck. “Should we… kiss?”
Jiang Muning froze, staring at her in shock, as if asking why they would need to kiss.
The elevator doors opened, and she hurried out, walking quickly as if fleeing, putting distance between them.
Chi Yunhan chased after her and asked again.
Jiang Muning answered seriously, “I don’t want to.”
At first, Chi Yunhan was disappointed, but then her eyes sparkled as she remembered Lu Xiangyuan’s words: When a woman says “no,” it means “don’t stop.”
Hah, “no, no”—just a tsundere.
She quickly followed Jiang Muning and asked, “Really? You really don’t want to?”
“Obviously?” Jiang Muning nodded, but after a moment, she hesitated, feeling something was off. Before she could figure it out, Chi Yunhan pounced on her, sending her stumbling forward.
Who knew Chi Yunhan was so strong? Not only did she grab Jiang Muning’s sleeve, but she also spun her around and pinned her against the wall.
Jiang Muning’s eyes widened.
They were pressed so close together that even their breaths mingled, growing hotter and hotter. Jiang Muning’s chest heaved violently, and her pheromones leaked uncontrollably.
Chi Yunhan’s face flushed red as he reached out to brace his hand beside her shoulder, leaning in close in a kabedon pose. “Don’t worry,” he murmured, “I’ll be very, very gentle. I won’t bite hard.”
