My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 11
Chi Yunhan was also acting this boldly for the first time, her breathing growing rapid. She had never kissed anyone before and momentarily didn’t know how to proceed.
She glanced at Jiang Muning’s neck. Unlike them, Alphas didn’t have glands—biting down wouldn’t count as marking.
So, she shifted her gaze to Jiang Muning’s lips instead.
Jiang Muning’s breathing was even more frantic than hers, hot and hurried against her cheeks, a little rough.
“Don’t come closer,” Jiang Muning said.
But it was already too late. Chi Yunhan closed her eyes and pressed forward. The omega’s pheromones rushed over her, flooding her senses and churning her rationality into chaos.
When Chi Yunhan leaned in to kiss her, Jiang Muning turned her head slightly. Their lips brushed past the corner of her mouth, leaving behind only a faint sweetness, like an Americano with too much sugar.
Before Chi Yunhan could savor it, she sensed something was wrong. Looking up, she saw Jiang Muning’s face had gone pale, her body stiff, fists clenched.
If she were an Alpha, she would have felt Jiang Muning’s mental energy erupting with overwhelming force. But all she could detect were Jiang Muning’s pheromones, wild and chaotic, searching for a way to invade…
Before she could soothe her, Jiang Muning gripped her shoulders and shoved her away violently, nearly sending her to the ground.
Jiang Muning kicked the door in frustration, leaving a dent in the metal surface, then punched in the passcode beside it.
Chi Yunhan froze for a second, wanting to check on her, but Jiang Muning snapped, “Don’t come near me. I’m fine. Perfectly fine. Stay away.”
And then she disappeared into the room.
When Chi Yunhan chased after her, Jiang Muning slammed the door shut with a loud bang. Faint rustling sounds followed, but she couldn’t tell what Jiang Muning was doing.
Her palms were damp with sweat, her body unbearably hot.
She was still holding the mousse cake, now a collapsed mess—unappetizing to even look at, let alone eat.
Jiang Muning didn’t emerge. After sitting for a while, Chi Yunhan knocked on the door. “I’m sorry. I was too impulsive today. Really, I didn’t mean to—”
No response came from inside. Worried, she asked, “Do you need to go to the hospital? You seemed… unwell.” She didn’t mention pheromones, sensing Jiang Muning’s aversion to them.
Still no movement. Chi Yunhan eyed the doorknob, considering whether to push inside, when Jiang Muning’s voice suddenly cut through. “Leave me alone. I’m fine.”
As soon as she spoke, that intangible pheromone presence surged again, as if guarding its territory, warning Chi Yunhan to keep her distance.
After hesitating, Chi Yunhan finally let go and retreated to her room, spraying herself with Suppressant several times. The excitement from provoking Jiang Muning had nearly pushed her into heat.
The next day at work, Chi Yunhan was listless. Neither of them spoke in the morning—she didn’t know how to apologize, and Jiang Muning ignored her.
In the break room, Chi Yunhan sighed heavily while making coffee. Lu Xiangyuan asked what was wrong.
Chi Yunhan recounted yesterday’s events, then added in confusion, “I thought she wanted it too. Turns out, when she said no, she meant no. Ugh, she wouldn’t even look at me this morning.”
She exhaled deeply, genuinely regretful. Holding hands would’ve been enough—why had she let lust cloud her judgment and go for a kiss? Damn it, she’d practically forced her wife into a corner.
Lu Xiangyuan didn’t know how to comfort her either. She just felt that Chi Yunhan’s wife was a bit old-fashioned—how could an Omega’s mindset lag behind in this modern era?
She gave Chi Yunhan some advice, “Here’s what you do, go back tonight, buy some wine, light a few candles, and in that romantic atmosphere, apologize and act a little cute. Who knows? Things might just fall into place naturally, and you two can… you know.”
Chi Yunhan was tempted again. “Will that work?”
Lu Xiangyuan guaranteed it. “Don’t you trust me? I’ve been in relationships before.”
Chi Yunhan was about to say she did, but then her brain suddenly kicked in. “Wait a minute, didn’t you drive your girlfriend away? Haven’t you been single for years?”
Lu Xiangyuan: “…”
That stung. She defended herself, “Our situations are different. Mine was because… never mind, let’s not talk about it.”
Chi Yunhan continued sighing.
Seeing how pessimistic Chi Yunhan was, Lu Xiangyuan said, “Let me tell you some good news. I saw Chi Yurong today—tch, she got chewed out like a dog. Apparently, Twilight was in a terrible mood and completely unsatisfied with her fragrance. She almost threw the perfume at her.”
“Really?” Chi Yunhan’s eyes lit up.
Lu Xiangyuan nodded. “Originally, her perfume was called ‘Nightfall,’ but now Twilight says it should be called ‘Sewage.'”
“Twilight was in such a bad mood, her words were brutal. She told Chi Yurong to get out of the perfumery world. If she can’t nail this design, her future in the fragrance industry is pretty much doomed.”
After all, Twilight was the benchmark of the perfume world. Whoever she praised would rise to fame; whoever she signed would become renowned; and whoever she mocked—well, that person was undoubtedly trash.
Hearing this, Chi Yunhan suddenly felt that Twilight had been quite gentle with her—just offering suggestions, not telling her to get lost.
She stood up, ready to leave. Lu Xiangyuan followed and asked, “Where are you going?”
“To the perfumery lab, of course. I’m in a bad mood too, so seeing Twilight tear into Chi Yurong and witnessing her misery will make me feel very good all day.” Chi Yunhan practically flew out the door, eager to see the spectacle.
One dared to scold, the other dared to listen.
Lu Xiangyuan ran after her. In a way, Twilight was helping them vent their frustration.
Omegas weren’t allowed in the perfumery lab, so Chi Yunhan had to watch from outside. She could hear Chi Yurong inside, screaming in frustration.
“The formula was written perfectly! How could there still be problems? Twilight is just picking on me! How could I possibly not understand perfumery?”
Chi Yunhan didn’t make a scene. Instead, she spoke softly to the people outside, “Twilight is actually quite nice. I got along well with her. I heard she only targets those who lack skill.”
“Oh, but it’s not nice to say that. I’m not implying my sister is incompetent, of course. Everyone, please don’t badmouth her.”
With that, the office was soon abuzz with gossip. The same people who had once praised Chi Yurong now turned on her. By the end of the day, Chi Yurong was nowhere to be seen in the office, her face ashen like a sparrow’s.
As she left, Chi Yunhan rubbed her nose and complained to Lu Xiangyuan, “Ugh, that scent is just awful. I wouldn’t have even glanced at it before—I’d have tossed it straight into the trash. No wonder Twilight rejected her.”
Still, after seeing all that, Chi Yunhan was in a much better mood.
She decided that whenever she was in a bad mood, she would go watch Twilight scold Chi Yurong. Hehe.
She hoped Twilight would be in a bad mood every day.
…
When returning home in the evening, Chi Yunhan still went to pick up Jiang Muning. This time, she wasn’t as reckless as yesterday, keeping a distance behind Jiang Muning.
Jiang Muning ignored her the whole way, but her pace wasn’t fast either, making Chi Yunhan think there was a chance for reconciliation.
The two walked home in silence. Jiang Muning placed her laptop on the table and took out a stack of scent test strips from her pocket.
Chi Yunhan slowly inched closer, putting the things she bought on the table—alcohol, snacks, and a few candles. As she poured the wine, she sincerely apologized, “Don’t be angry anymore, I was wrong.”
Jiang Muning lifted her gaze, silently asking where she had gone wrong.
Chi Yunhan had spent the whole day preparing her apology speech. “I—I shouldn’t have gone against your wishes and forced myself on you. I’ll respect you from now on.”
“And?” Jiang Muning looked at her seriously.
And? Chi Yunhan couldn’t think of anything else. “Then… what else? Tell me, and I’ll change.”
Without hesitation, Jiang Muning said, “You’re too desperate.”
“Too bold.”
“Too shameless.”
“…”
Jiang Muning accused her of ten sins in one breath.
After knowing each other for barely half a month, Chi Yunhan felt like she had become an irredeemable sinner. Searching her conscience, she admitted she was at fault for some things, but most of what she did was fine.
But since Jiang Muning was angry, Chi Yunhan kept nodding along, saying, “Yes, yes, it’s my fault,” while thinking to herself, I’ve just committed the same mistake every woman in the world would make.
Jiang Muning lectured her for so long that Chi Yunhan grew a little impatient. Once she finished, Chi Yunhan mustered the courage to add, “Look, I only held your hand and didn’t kiss you, pinned you against the wall but didn’t force you—I’m actually quite restrained. Can we still hold hands next time?”
Jiang Muning stared blankly at Chi Yunhan, feeling like the words “I’ll dare to do it again” were practically glowing on her forehead.
She said sternly, “You still haven’t realized your mistake.”
“I have,” Chi Yunhan sat up straight. “I listened carefully to everything you just said. I do have some issues, but don’t you have problems too?”
Jiang Muning stiffened. “What problems do I have?”
Chi Yunhan counted on her fingers. “We’re rescue partners, but you ignore me, won’t let me hold your hand, won’t let me kiss you, and call me indecent. So let me ask you—haven’t you missed me at all? Be honest.”
To her surprise, Jiang Muning actually placed a hand over her heart and said no, claiming she was very proper.
This angered Chi Yunhan. She pulled down the compatibility band, exposing her neck. “Look! You burned me red and then blamed me, saying I was the one burning you—when clearly, you were the one seducing me!”
“Me? Seduce you?” Jiang Muning denied it outright. “Impossible!”
“That day, you dressed like that—wearing just underwear and prancing around my house naked! And also…” Chi Yunhan jutted her chin out stubbornly. “I suspect you sneaked into my room at night while I was sleeping to kiss and touch me.”
Otherwise, why would she keep having those dreams? And why would she wake up to lingering pheromones in the air? It had to be Jiang Muning slipping in secretly.
Jiang Muning’s brows were tightly knitted, and her words came out slightly breathless, “Y-you’re talking nonsense. I would never do those things. You’re too angry right now, not thinking before you speak, saying whatever comes to mind. We shouldn’t be talking right now.”
“Ohohoho…” Chi Yunhan poured herself a glass of wine and downed it in one gulp. She knew she was just spouting nonsense in her anger, but she couldn’t stop herself. “You’re so cold. Are we supposed to take care of ourselves even during our ruts? How could I possibly knot alone? How could I possibly go that deep!”
“And you? How do you endure your rut? Do you just use your hand?”
After blustering through her words, even she was shocked. Jiang Muning’s expression was even more unreadable, her eyes wide as if to say how utterly shameless she was. Then she stood up, bracing herself against the table for a moment before also downing a glass of wine.
The two exchanged a glance, each grabbing a bottle to pour another drink, then gulping it down as if in a competition—faces flushed red, as though whoever got drunk first would lose today.
The wine kept flowing, and pheromones kept pouring out.
Jiang Muning’s face was flushed from drinking when she noticed Chi Yunhan staring at her fingers, even boldly reaching out to touch them. Gritting her teeth, she said, “Don’t come near me. You’re too shameless!”
“Right, right, right, right!” Chi Yunhan refused to back down. “I am shameless. Don’t provoke me, don’t push me, or I—”
For a moment, she didn’t know how to finish her threat. But seeing Jiang Muning’s crimson ears, she remembered her weakness and blurted out, “Push me too far, and I’ll climb on top and do it myself! I’ll ruin you!”
