My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 14
Lu Xiangyuan had a reasonable suspicion that Chi Yunhan was showing off her happy relationship.
Successful career plus a doting wife.
Suppressing a tinge of envy, she said, “Wife is important.”
Chi Yunhan thought about it and agreed. She cut a piece of chocolate mousse to eat, then held the spoon in her mouth as she texted Jiang Muning,
I’ll pick you up tonight, and then we can go to my parents’ place together. Would you like to come with me?
After sending it, Chi Yunhan waited for a reply, fully expecting Jiang Muning to respond with a “No” or simply ignore her.
After about ten minutes—during the peak rush hour when the café was packed—Chi Yunhan finished her fruit tea and went to order a milk tea. Just as she returned, her phone rang.
She quickly gestured at Lu Xiangyuan to keep quiet.
Lu Xiangyuan: I wasn’t even talking.
Chi Yunhan answered the call, gripping her phone as she said, “Hello?” and asked, “Are you coming with me? Tomorrow’s Saturday, let’s go together.”
“I have business to discuss tomorrow.”
“Still working tomorrow…?” Chi Yunhan sighed. Her wife was even more of a workaholic than she was. She added, “Tonight would be too rushed.”
Jiang Muning replied, “I can be back by eight tomorrow night. Then I’ll go.”
“You’ll definitely make it back,” Chi Yunhan assured her. “I’ll drive you.”
Jiang Muning said, “You don’t have a car.”
“Says who? I have thousands of cars.”
If you counted all the shared bikes and electric scooters in the city, there had to be at least a thousand. How could she not have a car?
Chi Yunhan thought this to herself but still felt a little embarrassed. “Then I’ll buy a car first, and we’ll go after that. How’s that?”
That meant she’d have to adjust her plans—meet with Twilight first, finalize the design draft, get the bonus. An electric scooter cost a little over four thousand. She could afford that.
“We can go first,” Jiang Muning suddenly agreed.
Chi Yunhan brightened. “I’ll pick you up then. Don’t worry, I’ll get you back on time. Guaranteed.”
“You sure?” Jiang Muning sounded skeptical.
“Absolutely. They definitely won’t keep us for dinner.”
Chi Yunhan knew her family’s habits all too well. Back when she was studying, every cent spent was meticulously recorded. They’d probably count the grains of rice if they could. No way they’d insist on keeping her.
Jiang Muning added, “I have a condition.”
Chi Yunhan straightened up, ready to negotiate seriously.
Jiang Muning’s tone deepened. “Forget about that night.”
“Huh?”
“And this morning,” Jiang Muning continued calmly. “No sudden laughing either. You have to wipe it all from your memory.”
“…Oh.”
Chi Yunhan took a deep breath. That scared her—she thought Jiang Muning was referring to some secret night between them. “Could you not pause like that? It’s terrifying. But fine, I promise. I’ll forget.”
The call fell silent. Normally, Jiang Muning would’ve hung up by now. Puzzled, Chi Yunhan asked, “Anything else?”
Jiang Muning cleared her throat, making the atmosphere even more serious. She switched the phone to her other hand. “Also… don’t think about marking me. I’ve looked it up—reverse marking is nonsense. Don’t believe those folk remedies. Since ancient times, no Alpha has ever been marked.”
If she hadn’t brought it up, Chi Yunhan would’ve forgotten all about it.
Chi Yunhan: “You actually researched it?”
“I’m debunking rumors,” Jiang Muning said in the tone of an internet police officer. “It’s precisely because of all these nonsensical rumors that 0.000001% of Alphas nationwide have been bitten by Omegas, subsequently contracting certain illnesses, thus—”
“Alright, alright, I get it,” Chi Yunhan was genuinely exasperated by her. In the past, Jiang Muning barely spoke, only offering cold “hmphs.” Now, once she started talking, it turned into lengthy lectures—anyone listening might think she was delivering an academic report.
0.000001% of Alphas bitten? One Alpha gets bitten, and suddenly it’s all the Omegas’ fault. Alphas were always so dramatic. Look at Omegas—they got bitten so many times, yet not a single piece of flesh went missing.
Chi Yunhan couldn’t help but suspect Jiang Muning had graduated from some Alpha Virtue Academy, topping the class as the valedictorian. She muttered offhandedly, “Then you Alphas better bundle up when you go out. If some Omega bites you, your whole life is over.”
Unexpectedly, Jiang Muning earnestly agreed, “You’re absolutely right.”
“Pfft—” Chi Yunhan nearly spat out her milk tea, barely stopping herself from retorting that Jiang Muning should uphold her Alpha virtues and serve her properly.
Jiang Muning hummed in acknowledgment. “See you tonight.”
Chi Yunhan tentatively asked, “So… does this mean we’ve made up?”
Then, the call ended.
Despite that, Chi Yunhan’s mood had improved significantly. She took a sip of her milk tea, the sweetness coating her throat. Stirring it, she popped off the lid and scooped up some red beans with a spoon.
Sensing an intense gaze from across the table, she looked up to find Lu Xiangyuan studying her again. “I’ve noticed you’re not as blindly biased toward your wife anymore. You even dared to clap back at her now.”
“Really?” Chi Yunhan chewed on the red beans and suddenly grinned. “Maybe it was that night… when I finally let loose.”
“Which night? Did you two…? Spill the details!” Lu Xiangyuan leaned forward, clearly intrigued.
A few minutes earlier, Chi Yunhan would’ve laughed and shared everything. But she’d already promised Jiang Muning to keep it confidential. “We didn’t do that. It was… more than that. Heh, it’s too embarrassing to talk about—mortifying, really. Like, want-to-die levels of embarrassment.”
Lu Xiangyuan was thoroughly confused.
What the hell was that and more than that? And why was it want-to-die levels?
She felt like a truck had just run over her face.
Chi Yunhan kept giggling to herself, refusing to elaborate.
When it was time, the two headed back to the office together, bringing egg tarts for their colleagues. Lu Xiangyuan warned her, “Chi Yurong called you back. It’s probably nothing good—be careful. I have a bad feeling it’s a setup.”
“I know. Don’t worry.”
…
After work, Chi Yunhan texted Chi Yurong her estimated return time and went to pick up Jiang Muning. For now, they were tentatively reconciled.
Upon arrival, she received a reply from Chi Yurong.
Chi Yurong: I’ll be bringing my fiancé along too. You don’t mind, right?
Chi Yunhan scoffed internally. I have a wife—why would I care?
Chi Yurong added: Barring any surprises, Chao Ming and I will be getting married by the end of the year. Looks like we sisters will be tying the knot around the same time.
Chi Yunhan wasn’t oblivious—Chi Yurong was deliberately trying to provoke her.
Fan Chaoming had once been her close friend, only to later become Chi Yurong’s boyfriend. In short, he’d been stolen from her.
She didn’t actually like Fan Chaoming. It was just that among everyone she’d known since childhood, Fan Chaoming had treated her decently—unlike others who looked down on her. He treated her and Chi Yurong the same way, and she really enjoyed hanging out with him.
To put it bluntly, Fan Chaoming was her only friend.
But then one day, Fan Chaoming suddenly confessed his feelings to her, and she gently turned him down.
Later, when Fan Chaoming invited her out again, she witnessed the supposedly fair-minded Fan Chaoming confessing to Chi Yurong, claiming it was just a ploy to get Chi Yurong’s attention—that he actually liked Chi Yurong.
Hearing that nearly made Chi Yunhan vomit on the spot. Feeling utterly played, she stormed over and cursed them both. Yet the very next day, rumors spread that she was the one obsessed with Fan Chaoming, heartbroken and vengeful, trying to ruin her own sister.
The memory was too humiliating. Her pride wounded, Chi Yunhan couldn’t help but inflate her current situation as she typed: “Oh really? Well, congratulations then.”
“But my Alpha treats me incredibly well. When I wanted coffee, she got me a membership card and loaded it with a million—said I couldn’t go home until I drank it all, and she’d keep refilling it whenever I finished. She’d even buy me a whole café if I wanted.”
“She owns hundreds of new cars—Phantoms, Rolls-Royces, Maybachs, Aston Martins—but she refuses to ride in them. She’d rather take my electric bike with me~”
“Not just that—she’s worth billions, makes the whole business world tremble, yet squeezes into a tiny rental with me. She’d never say it out loud, but in her heart, she thinks: ‘This little house is overflowing with love. You’re my Omega for life~'”
Breathing heavily after her impassioned typing, Chi Yunhan looked up to see Jiang Muning emerging from the company.
Jiang Muning expertly scanned the QR code on an electric bike, then effortlessly wheeled it over. The bike’s automated voice welcomed them aboard and announced—per company policy adjustments—that their base fare was now one yuan. Jiang Muning frowned and turned to her. “They raised the price.”
Instantly, Chi Yunhan’s tongue went numb, her fingers trembled, and shame burned through her. She cursed herself internally: You shameless, vainglorious woman.
Her toes curled in humiliation as she muttered, “I’ll work hard to earn money—lots of it. Enough for dozens of new cars and a proper house.”
Jiang Muning stared at her blankly.
Sensing the drastic mood shift, she opened her mouth to speak—but Chi Yunhan was already straddling the bike, transmuting shame into rage: “Changing policies without warning? Announcing the one-yuan fare after scanning? Garbage! Screw them—not getting an extra cent from me! I’m withdrawing my deposit tomorrow!”
“Capitalist leeches! Bloodsucking monsters!”
Jiang Muning pressed her lips tightly together.
But Chi Yunhan’s tirade was too impassioned. After a struggle, Jiang Muning finally interjected: “Stop. I’ll have them revise the policy tomorrow.”
Then added quietly: “Not all capitalists are monsters.”
