My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 15
Originally, Chi Yunhan had planned to head straight back, but the one-yuan starting fare stuck in her craw, making her determined to get her money’s worth.
She did some quick mental calculations and said earnestly, “Let’s drive to the cinema nearby. That should be just enough to make up for that one yuan.”
Hearing no response from Jiang Muning, Chi Yunhan grew anxious—worried that Jiang Muning might think her too petty, or worse, see right through her little scheme.
The wind had left her throat a bit hoarse, so she lowered her voice and muttered, “Why are you always like this? Can’t you just give a straight answer? It’s already embarrassing enough for a girl like me to suggest going to such a place.”
Jiang Muning replied leisurely, “I’m in your car. Wherever you want to go is up to you.”
It sounded as if Chi Yunhan had kidnapped her. With a dissatisfied huff, Chi Yunhan retorted, “Fine, then I’ll take you to a hotel. Will you sleep with me?”
The moment the words left her mouth, Chi Yunhan choked and burst into a fit of coughing. How had she blurted out her innermost thoughts? So shameless!
She didn’t catch what Jiang Muning said afterward, but she was certain it must have been something like calling her shameless, brazen, or downright wanton.
Chi Yunhan drove to the cinema and parked in the designated spot. She glanced at Jiang Muning’s phone to check how much had been deducted, nodding in satisfaction once she confirmed they’d fully utilized the starting fare.
There weren’t any new releases, but one horror film had decent reviews and was dubbed “the perfect movie for couples,” guaranteed to make girls scream from start to finish, leaving them no choice but to cling to their partners.
Chi Yunhan had it all planned out: if she got scared, she’d throw herself into Jiang Muning’s arms. And if Jiang Muning dared push her away, she’d just hold on tighter.
She returned with two tickets, and Jiang Muning frowned at the title, giving her a puzzled look.
“Are you scared?” Chi Yunhan asked.
Jiang Muning pointed at the ticket price. “You rant about capitalists over a one-yuan fare, yet you don’t bat an eye spending 78 yuan on movie tickets?”
Far from regretting it, Chi Yunhan even bought a large bucket of popcorn and handed it to Jiang Muning, keeping the soda for herself. “That’s different. Money should be spent wisely—not a single cent more for those greedy capitalists.”
Realizing how stingy that sounded, she added, “Of course, if I were rich, I’d splurge without a care. I’d load up every card with a million yuan just for the thrill of it—not to spend, but to flaunt. Imagine swiping a card and hearing, ‘Dear customer, your balance is one million yuan.’ How satisfying would that be?”
Jiang Muning said, “I suppose.”
She couldn’t even picture such a scenario. If it ever happened, she’d probably die of embarrassment—more socially mortifying than sniffing a shirt.
Chi Yunhan shot her a sidelong glance, noting her calm, almost dismissive demeanor, and thought: My wife has even grander ambitions than me—a million yuan doesn’t even faze her.
They waited in the lobby for a while. Chi Yunhan sipped her soda through a straw and kept reaching for Jiang Muning’s popcorn, giggling to herself each time.
Jiang Muning asked, “Can’t you hold your own?”
“Nope. Look, all the other couples do it this way.”
The couples around them were feeding each other, seemingly never getting enough of the sweetness.
Jiang Muning followed Chi Yunhan’s gaze and revealed a rather complicated expression, as if she couldn’t understand why these people were so unrestrained.
Chi Yunhan immediately thought of a perfect meme to describe her reaction.
“Old man on subway looking at phone.jpg”
Confused, bewildered, shocked!
When it was time for the movie, the two sat together surrounded by couples. There was a divider between their seats, which Chi Yunhan pushed down so she could sit closer to Jiang Muning—making it easier to grope her later.
However, half an hour into the film, Chi Yunhan found herself staring blankly at the screen while other Omegas around her turned pale with fear, gasping and whimpering. She, on the other hand, was yawning nonstop. If not for the overly excited couples nearby, she might have dozed off right then.
The plot was unbearably dull, and even the popcorn had lost its appeal. Chi Yunhan leaned in and whispered into Jiang Muning’s ear, “See that corpse? Its fingers are definitely going to twitch soon—”
Before she could finish, the corpse’s fingers indeed twitched. A bloody hand suddenly slammed against the screen in 3D, as if trying to grab the audience’s faces. The Omega next to them screamed, and soon the entire theater erupted in shrieks.
Chi Yunhan snickered and turned to Jiang Muning. “Are you scared too? If you are, you can lean closer to me.”
“No need,” Jiang Muning replied. “I just rarely watch such meaningless things.” She glanced back at the screen and added, “It’s truly horrifying that something this boring was made for audiences.”
Chi Yunhan scoffed and stole a glance at her, noticing her slightly uneven breathing. “Don’t worry,” she teased. “Later, the pool will fill with bl00d, hair will come out of the faucet, and—”
“Could you stop spoiling it?” Jiang Muning shot her an annoyed look.
Chi Yunhan mimed zipping her lips shut.
A while later, Chi Yunhan was so bored she nearly fell asleep when Jiang Muning suddenly asked, “Is there a ghost in the hallway?”
Chi Yunhan yawned. “Yep.”
Too bored, and with Jiang Muning refusing to play along, she simply took off her 3D glasses, reclined her seat slightly, and prepared to nap.
Jiang Muning watched for another ten minutes before realizing it had grown too quiet beside her. She turned her head and saw Chi Yunhan fast asleep.
Under the dim theater lights, Chi Yunhan lay curled up in her seat, eyes closed, completely at odds with the screams echoing around them.
“Hey?”
No response. Jiang Muning lowered her voice. “Chi Yunhan?”
After staying up all night, Chi Yunhan was genuinely exhausted.
She slept soundly, her lashes resting peacefully, the slight flutter at their tips adding a touch of playfulness—like a dragonfly skimming the surface of a summer lake, its wings casting delicate ripples.
Beautiful.
That was the first impression she gave.
Though Chi Yunhan tried to restrain herself in front of Jiang Muning, acting like a poised and elegant lady, the more lively she was, the more radiant her beauty became.
Jiang Muning frowned, her expression unreadable. Just as she was about to push her away, a sudden weight settled on her shoulder.
She looked down to find Chi Yunhan leaning against her, head resting comfortably on her shoulder, mumbling something indistinct but undeniably cute in her sleep.
Jiang Muning froze, stiffening slightly. She tried to shift away, but Chi Yunhan only nestled closer, adjusting herself for maximum comfort.
After a long moment, Jiang Muning straightened her back.
Though the theater was packed with an audience, it felt as if only the two of them existed. Chi Yunhan’s breath tickled Jiang Muning’s neck, warm and tingling.
Jiang Muning turned her gaze back to the screen, where a disheveled, swaying female ghost flickered ominously. With a darkened expression, she glanced sideways at Chi Yunhan, only to hear her murmur in a soft yet determined voice, “I must become rich.”
