My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 20
The force was too strong—Jiang Muning came back looking deathly pale.
Chi Yunhan asked worriedly, “What’s wrong? Did you eat something bad?”
Jiang Muning nodded, wiping her mouth with a tissue before whispering in Chi Yunhan’s ear, “You’re ruthless.”
Chi Yunhan also felt the trick was too cruel. If Chi Yurong used it on Twilight, the scene would be… She really was a wicked woman.
Jiang Muning added, “But I like it.”
Well, then there was no problem.
Chi Yunhan flushed with embarrassment, but Jiang Muning leaned in again, wanting to smell her pheromones. “Ugh… Let me take another whiff. I really can’t take it anymore.”
Chi Yunhan patted her back and handed her a glass of water.
Across the table, Chi Yurong was holding her phone, seemingly texting someone.
After a moment, Chi Yurong looked up at her and asked doubtfully, “Yunhan, are you sure this fragrance blend will smell good?”
Chi Yunhan shot back, “Isn’t Dad the one who wanted the formula?”
Chi Yurong’s smile stiffened, hastily backtracking, “I was just curious—professional habit.” Then she shot Father Chi a meaningful glance.
Father Chi chimed in, “Your sister has a point. Does this scent really smell good? If it does, sales will be high, and Dad can earn more bonuses to buy you things.”
Chi Yunhan replied, “All perfumes follow the same principle—if you blend them well, they’ll smell good. If you don’t, even the most expensive ingredients will stink. It depends on how you mix them. A skilled perfumer can turn even foul-smelling elements into a perfect fragrance.”
The implication was too obvious. Chi Yurong clenched her phone. She couldn’t blend? What a joke—she was the company’s chief perfumer, after all.
The meal was far from pleasant, mainly because Jiang Muning was suffering. Every time she looked at the dishes or the three of them, the smell overwhelmed her.
Jiang Muning snapped impatiently, “When are we leaving? It reeks. If we stay any longer, I’ll suffocate.”
Chi Yunhan didn’t want to stay either. “I didn’t come back just to hand you a formula. I’m here to get something—give me the household register.”
Mother Chi tensed. “What do you need it for?” The others wore similarly guarded expressions.
Chi Yunhan didn’t bother arguing. “It’s up to you whether you give it to me or not. The formula is what it is. As for how to blend it, the ratios, the quantities—you’ll have to experiment. It’ll take at least a thousand tries.”
Just as Mother Chi was about to explode, Chi Yurong tugged at her sleeve and whispered, “Mom, just give it to her. We can always find a way to get it back later—or have her household registration removed.”
As the two murmured their scheming, Jiang Muning frowned and asked Chi Yunhan, “You’ve been living away from home, and they never gave you the household register?”
Chi Yunhan shook her head.
Mother Chi finally stood and went upstairs. A few minutes later, she returned with the household register page, arms crossed, looking down her nose. “Here. After this, whether you live or die out there, it has nothing to do with the Chi family.”
Just as Chi Yunhan was about to agree, Jiang Muning pressed a hand on her shoulder, took the page, and scanned the parents’ names listed. Then she turned her piercing gaze to Father Chi, who flinched.
Father Chi quickly backpedaled, “Ah, let’s not say it like that. Yunhan is still our daughter. She may be a bit mischievous, but this will always be her home.”
“You’re quite the smooth talker,” Jiang Muning said as she placed the household registration page into Chi Yunhan’s bag. Chi Yunhan had been carrying the bag all along, but they hadn’t paid much attention to it until now. The moment it was brought out, their eyes lit up.
This was a limited-edition bag worth at least half a million. Judging by its appearance and scent, it seemed to be the real deal. It wasn’t until Chi Yunhan reached the doorway that they remembered to ask about the formula.
Jiang Muning pressed a finger to her lips. “Shh.”
Chi Yunhan followed suit. “Shh.”
With the household registration page already secured, why bother giving them anything?
“You dare!” Mother Chi reached out to stop them, even attempting to snatch Chi Yunhan’s bag, as if determined to leave claw marks on it.
Jiang Muning said calmly, “My driver is waiting downstairs.”
Chi Yunhan grinned triumphantly. She slung the bag across her shoulder, zipped it up, and declared, “Let’s go. We’re never coming back.”
“Why not? Seeing your parents and sister so furious they can barely breathe brings me great joy,” Jiang Muning said earnestly. “In fact, we should visit more often to annoy them.”
“You’re absolutely right.”
Chi Yunhan glanced back to see her mother and sister standing at the door, gripping the frame, biting their lips, and breathing heavily as if on the verge of fainting. For the first time, they had been completely outmaneuvered by Chi Yunhan.
After walking a few steps, they heard the sound of frantic footsteps descending the stairs.
“Hahaha, this is hilarious!” Chi Yunhan exclaimed excitedly as she ran down several flights before remembering there was an elevator.
Never in her life had she felt such joy. Sincerely, she turned to Jiang Muning and said, “Thank you.”
Jiang Muning slipped a hand into her pocket, her brow furrowed. As the elevator reached the first floor, she added, “Then let me take a few more whiffs later.”
“Sure,” Chi Yunhan replied softly, stealing a glance at Jiang Muning. She seemed different today, yet when she wasn’t smiling, there was no noticeable change.
The car was still parked downstairs, much to Chi Yunhan’s surprise. The driver was incredibly dedicated—she wished she had brought him some snacks.
The driver politely opened the door for them. “After you.”
Chi Yunhan sat in the back, happily pulling out her phone to snap a couple of photos of the car, planning to post them on social media to celebrate. As she typed, she stole another look at Jiang Muning beside her, longing to take a photo with her wife.
Jiang Muning told the driver, “Wait here for a moment.”
She got into the car and smiled at Chi Yunhan, as if asking if she was ready to let her take a whiff. Chi Yunhan coughed twice, feeling a bit embarrassed. Being alone together and doing something like this—what if something happened?
She was, after all, a proper and virtuous maiden.
How mortifying.
Jiang Muning, understanding, gave her time to prepare while jotting something down in a notebook.
Suddenly, Jiang Muning let out a retching sound. Chi Yunhan turned her head, concerned. “What’s wrong? Are you still not feeling well?”
Since Jiang Muning had started feeling nauseous, her face had remained pale, her condition clearly not ideal. Chi Yunhan suggested, “Should we go to the hospital?”
“It’s fine. Just let me take a whiff,” Jiang Muning said, putting away her notebook and beckoning her over.
Chi Yunhan was skeptical. “Really? Just a sniff and you’ll be okay?”
When Jiang Muning nodded, Chi Yunhan leaned in hesitantly. Jiang Muning moved closer, inhaled deeply, and sighed contentedly. “You smell amazing—better than any perfume.”
She leaned in again, “Just one more sniff.”
Then one sniff led to another, unable to stop.
Jiang Muning stretched out her arms, signaling for Chi Yunhan to come closer so she could inhale longer.
Chi Yunhan hadn’t worn her compatibility ring today and didn’t know Jiang Muning’s exact condition. Seeing Jiang Muning keep sniffing while her face grew paler, she began to suspect if Jiang Muning had inhaled too much of her pheromones.
Chi Yunhan leaned forward slightly, then sharply sensed something wrong with Jiang Muning’s pheromones—they were too invasive. She quickly tried to pull back, but Jiang Muning gripped her shoulders.
“Be good.” Jiang Muning tilted her body, voice hoarse and trembling as if she’d lost some rationality, yet her movements carried a peculiar meticulous gentleness.
She tucked Chi Yunhan’s hair behind her ear, “Let me smell you again. Your scent is so intoxicating.”
Chi Yunhan nearly succumbed until Jiang Muning’s pheromones surged over—scorching heat that made her shudder. Instinctively, she reached into her bag for Suppressant, only finding lipstick.
Damn it. She hadn’t anticipated this outcome when coming here and forgot to bring Suppressant.
Jiang Muning noticed her intention and seized her hand, saying, “You are my Suppressant.”
She kissed Chi Yunhan’s hand, raising eyes now completely crimson, carrying a beast-like gaze of impending invasion—gentle yet brutal—as she looked at her, “Why run? Let me have a few more whiffs.”
The backseat was spacious enough for two people sitting normally, but once entangled, every inch became cramped with nowhere to hide.
Chi Yunhan stiffened and struggled backward, but Jiang Muning lowered the seat divider, gradually pulling her back.
Along with it came pheromones charging recklessly.
Chi Yunhan nervously looked at Jiang Muning, “Are… are you in heat?”
“Is this what heat feels like?”
Chi Yunhan was shocked, “You don’t know what heat is like?”
Jiang Muning seemed even more surprised, “Never experienced it. But if wanting to devour you, to have you, counts as heat, then yes, I’m in heat.”
“No, we… we need to go to the hospital.” Despite her flirtatious thoughts, Chi Yunhan was actually a coward at heart. She covered her neck protectively.
Jiang Muning smiled, baring white teeth, her words utterly unreasonable, “You caused this. You must take responsibility—bond with me, help me through this heat.”
She pried open Chi Yunhan’s fingers one by one, her own fingers tracing the neck, each millimeter closer to the gland making her eyes redden further.
Until she finally touched Chi Yunhan’s gland, murmuring, “Be good. Let me bite you first.”
