My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 4
Chi Yunhan had been dwelling on this matter—was she really that… that lustful?
She never recklessly released her pheromones, okay?
Unless Twilight pissed her off!
Fuming, she stomped to the bathroom for a shower. By the time she came out, Jiang Muning had already washed the dishes, one sleeve rolled up, her slender arms still glistening with water droplets. There was an unexpected touch of domesticity about her now. The two of them crossed paths.
Jiang Muning walked into her room, then pushed the door back open, sweeping a glance over her before repeating, “You’re not coming out tonight, right?”
“…No!”
Chi Yunhan slammed the door shut indignantly, vowing in her heart that she would never come out—not even if Jiang Muning begged her. Unless, of course, Jiang Muning knocked on her door to apologize.
Hmph. Today, you ignore me—tomorrow, you’ll be the one begging for my attention!
Gritting her teeth, Chi Yunhan stewed in her anger, growing increasingly incensed. A slightly “wicked” thought crept into her mind—what if Jiang Muning went into her rut today? Right now. And then, desperate and miserable, she’d come crawling to Chi Yunhan, pleading at her bedside, “Please, please touch me, soothe me, I can’t take it anymore…”
That pitiful, vulnerable look—all that aloofness, that untouchable aura—completely shattered at her feet.
The fantasy was so vivid, so satisfying, that Chi Yunhan couldn’t help but hum smugly, legs crossed. Feeling much better, she rolled over and got up, marching back to knock on Jiang Muning’s door.
“I think we need to clear something up. Trust is the most important thing between two people. Before you’re ready for soothing, I won’t force you. I won’t do anything inappropriate. I’m a very proper person!”
She spoke earnestly at the door. “I swear—I swear I won’t force you. I’m a woman of my word. You should believe me!”
Silence. The same quiet as before. No response.
Chi Yunhan knocked again. “Are you asleep?”
Finally, a voice came from inside.
Jiang Muning’s tone was low. “Didn’t you say you weren’t coming out tonight?”
“…”
Chi Yunhan wanted to curse. She turned on her heel, glaring at the door as she walked away. “That’s different! I’m not some loose woman who parades around half-naked at night. I’m a proper, untouched maiden!”
“I didn’t say you were,” Jiang Muning clarified.
But her voice was too soft—Chi Yunhan might as well not have heard it. Her temper flared and faded quickly. After venting at Jiang Muning, she stewed for a bit, then rolled over and fell asleep.
Still, Jiang Muning’s insinuation about being “loose” nagged at her. That night, she slept in her bra—something she never did when she was alone at home.
The next morning, she woke up feeling slightly uncomfortable. Rolling her neck, she stepped out to find Jiang Muning already in the bathroom, brushing her teeth, lips covered in foam. Jiang Muning glanced at her sideways before rinsing her mouth.
“Aren’t you hot dressed like that?” Chi Yunhan yawned, eyeing Jiang Muning’s fully buttoned-up attire. What she really wanted to say was, You don’t have to wear a full suit at home. It’s stifling. Lighten up—literally.
When she was off-duty, Chi Yunhan loved lounging in pajamas—whatever she slept in, she wore all day. No restrictions, no burden on the body.
She looked over again just as Jiang Muning adjusted her tie, tucking it neatly into her collar.
“Not hot,” Jiang Muning said, smoothing her clothes.
Forget it, if Jiang Muning said it was cool, what could she do?
Chi Yunhan waited for her to come out before going to brush her teeth. Squeezing toothpaste onto her brush, she mentioned the day’s plans, “I need to go back home today.”
“Where to?” Jiang Muning asked.
Chi Yunhan mumbled around her toothbrush, “My parents’ place. I moved out, but they asked me to come back for a meal.” She studied Jiang Muning’s expression and tentatively asked, “Do you want to come along?”
Jiang Muning declined. Chi Yunhan responded with an “Oh,” feeling a mix of disappointment and relief. Given her family situation, she wouldn’t know how to handle it if Jiang Muning actually went with her.
Jiang Muning had prepared breakfast—toast with eggs and a slice of cheese. Simple ingredients, but it tasted good. Chi Yunhan, who usually skipped breakfast, took a sip of milk, feeling warm inside and reluctant to leave.
“You look terrible,” Jiang Muning suddenly remarked, glancing at her.
“It’s nothing. Just thinking about the long trip. Not really in the mood,” Chi Yunhan shrugged, then looked at Jiang Muning expectantly. “They weren’t good to me.”
She really wanted some comfort.
Jiang Muning, ever aloof and slow to speak, simply continued eating as if she hadn’t heard, seemingly uninterested in engaging.
Chi Yunhan was crushed. She got up and headed for the door.
Just as she reached it, Jiang Muning spoke in a puzzled tone, “I don’t see how interacting with people you dislike creates any business value. It’s like talking to garbage—a waste of time.”
“Sudden kindness is just an attempt to squeeze the last bit of value out of you.”
Chi Yunhan: “?”
Jiang Muning asked, “Do you want to be a garbage dump?”
Chi Yunhan shook her head vigorously.
Jiang Muning said, “I suggest you abandon that career path. Garbage dumps are already monopolized by the top four corporations. If you insist, you’ll only end up in recycling.”
With that, Jiang Muning pulled out a tissue and dabbed her lips unhurriedly.
Chi Yunhan was stunned. Though her wife’s words were harsh, they cut straight to the point. So adorable! Her wife was absolutely right!
Why was she so brutally efficient with her words?
Suddenly feeling warm and empowered, Chi Yunhan nodded emphatically.
“I’ll come back early!”
…
Chi Yunhan had moved out after turning eighteen and rarely returned. Yesterday, after talking with Chi Yurong, her sister had someone relay a message asking her to come home for a meal.
She didn’t go straight there. Instead, she helped Lu Xiangyuan move to a safer neighborhood after Lu mentioned being stalked recently. By the time they finished, it was already evening. Chi Yunhan bought a bottle of water and some gifts before heading to the Chi residence.
The Chi family wasn’t wealthy—just middle-class. They owned a 200-square-meter apartment in the city. Her mother was a university professor, her father a doctor, and her sister, Chi Yurong, a perfumer.
At the door, she entered the passcode, but it didn’t open. She rang the bell instead. Her father answered, greeting her warmly, “You’re here! Dinner’s ready.”
The table was already set. Her mother sat at the table and glanced up coldly as she entered. “Your sister’s working overtime today. There are some things I need to discuss with you.”
Chi Yunhan replied with an “Oh,” then took her seat and picked up her bowl.
Chi’s mother spoke while picking up food with her chopsticks, “I heard you got stuck on a contract for half a month and almost offended the client, right? And wasn’t this contract introduced by your sister?”
Bullshit. She hadn’t even met them—how could she have offended anyone?
“Your sister can’t bring herself to say it, so I will. If you can’t handle it, don’t drag her down. Your sister is in a crucial phase of her career right now—don’t affect her.”
Her tone was harsh. Chi’s father nudged her. “What nonsense are you spouting? Don’t talk like that in front of the child. Yunhan understands.” Then, he turned to Chi Yunhan and said, “Don’t listen to your mother’s nonsense. Once your sister secures her position, she’ll definitely support you. Just listen to her more at the company. Come on, let’s eat.”
He placed a chicken drumstick in Chi Yunhan’s bowl.
Chi Yunhan picked it up and put it back, staring at the greasy spot left in her bowl. Suddenly, she felt nauseous, the urge to vomit rising. Suppressing the disgust, she asked, “Is there anything else?”
Chi’s mother replied, “As long as you behave, there won’t be any problems.”
Chi Yunhan curled her lips. It was all Jiang Muning’s fault—her words had such a strange effect, making her feel like she was sitting at the table with two pieces of trash.
Just… disgusting.
Chi Yunhan straightened up and said matter-of-factly, “I don’t believe that interacting with people I dislike creates any business value. It’s the same as talking to garbage—a waste of time for both sides.”
Chi’s mother frowned sharply. “What nonsense are you saying?”
“You just want to squeeze the last bit of value out of me.”
“But lately, I don’t feel like being a garbage dump. Oh, by the way, waste disposal is already monopolized by the Big Four companies. If you’re so determined to be trash, go look for them—they’ll sort you out properly.”
Chi’s mother’s eyes widened in fury, her fingers trembling around her chopsticks before slamming them onto the table. “Chi Yunhan, have you grown too bold for your own good?!”
Chi’s father tried to mediate. “Yunhan, how can you talk to your mother like that? She only wants what’s best for you. She’s thinking about your future. We’ve heard all about how things are for you at the company.”
“I’m doing just fine. I’m a team leader now. I never expected her help—everything I have, I earned myself.” Chi Yunhan smoothed her clothes deliberately. “Stop taking credit where none is due.”
She stood up, ready to go upstairs and collect her things. When she had moved out in a hurry, she’d left behind books and some of her own handmade blends. She intended to take everything—she wasn’t coming back.
“Stop right there!” Chi’s mother snapped, blocking her path. Even Chi’s father rose to his feet. “What else are you looking for upstairs? Don’t let me see you again after this, you ungrateful brat!”
“Get out of my house!”
Ignoring them both, Chi Yunhan went to her old room and packed up all her books. She had meant to take her old notebooks too, but they were nowhere to be found. After a quick tidy-up, she stepped out.
Chi’s mother was heaving with rage, but Chi Yunhan didn’t spare her a glance. At the door, she picked up the gifts she had brought and took them with her, peeling an orange as she left.
She slammed the door behind her, putting as much distance between them as possible.
Inside, Chi’s mother clutched her chest, while Chi’s father asked nervously, “What’s gotten into Yunhan? Did she find out? Why was she so defiant today?”
“So, what if she did? She’s just ungrateful! A white-eyed wolf, raised for nothing!”
…
Chi Yunhan wasn’t being defiant—she was just heartbroken.
Her family had always been biased, favoring alphas over omegas—no, that wasn’t quite accurate. Even before she presented as an omega, they had treated her poorly.
Back then, too young to understand, she would tiptoe around, trying desperately to please her parents. Their responses were always cold, except for her father, who was slightly kinder. Her mother, on the other hand, was outright cruel. The moment she turned eighteen, she moved out.
Of course, no one stopped her. Not even a hand offered to help carry her things.
Only Chi Yurong ever came to visit. She still returned once a month for a meal—she was the type who couldn’t harden her heart, too starved for love, always yearning for a family.
She really, really wanted a home. She wanted to be cherished.
Chi Yunhan thought to herself: Fine, if you don’t like me, then you don’t. I’ll like myself enough for all of you—super, super, super like.
And someday, my wife will like me too.
She got out of the car at the entrance of her apartment complex. It was already dark, and the fruit vendor near the gate was hurrying to close up, slashing prices for the day. She bought a bag of fruit and spotted a big watermelon. She picked the largest one, thinking she could split it in half—one half for herself, the other for Jiang Muning—then they could watch TV together.
Deep breath.
Chi Yunhan carried the bags, took the elevator up, and rang the doorbell. No answer. She knocked twice before finally fishing out her keys to unlock the door.
Stepping inside, she scanned the living room—no one in sight. She closed the door behind her, swapped into slippers, and headed toward the bedroom. But the moment she took a single step forward, she froze, her grip on the bags faltering.
There, in the kitchen, stood a woman dressed in something… revealing. How revealing? A white lace shawl draped over her shoulders, beneath which was a set of black, mature lingerie. The shawl had slipped down, exposing the smooth curve of her shoulders.
The woman had her back turned, pouring tea. She took a sip.
Her swan-like neck arched, her sharp shoulders lifting slightly—sensual, alluring. Chi Yunhan seethed. She’d been gone for one day, and Jiang Muning had already brought someone home? Was she seriously getting cuckolded like this? What the actual fvck?!
“Jiang Muning!” Chi Yunhan roared toward the bedroom. “Get your ass out here!”
The woman in front of her suddenly turned around. “What?”
And then—Chi Yunhan saw it. The face of this seductive, bewitching woman… was Jiang Muning’s. That same cool, detached face.
Only now, her peach-blossom eyes were slightly upturned, her lips glossy and wet, exuding an air of irresistible allure.
The woman held her cup and asked, “You needed something?”
At that moment—
Thud.
Chi Yunhan’s hands trembled. The watermelon slipped from her grasp and hit the floor.
