My Alpha Has a Split Personality - Chapter 8
Chi Yunhan was giving Chi Yurong a thorough scolding without holding back.
People from several departments had gathered to watch the commotion, and even Lu Xiangyuan from the production team came over to back Chi Yunhan up. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on them.
Logically speaking, Chi Yunhan not getting fired should have been a happy occasion. Chi Yurong, as her older sister who usually took such good care of her, should have been delighted—yet her face had completely fallen.
It just didn’t make sense.
“Because we’re fake sisters!” Chi Yunhan declared dramatically at the top of her lungs, determined to expose Chi Yurong’s true colors.
One of Chi Yurong’s devoted followers tried to salvage her dignity, snapping, “That’s not how you use the term ‘fake sisters.’ How uncultured.”
Chi Yunhan laughed. “Oh, right, right, right! My lack of education strikes again. She should be called a white lotus—a shameless, scheming drama queen. You and her are the fake sisters, Fang Mengmiao. Smart of you to notice!”
Fang Mengmiao’s face turned as colorful as a palette. She hurried over to Chi Yurong’s side, whispering, “Yurong, Yurong, don’t listen to her nonsense.”
“I’m fine…” Chi Yurong replied, though her nose throbbed painfully—Chi Yunhan’s punch had landed squarely on it. Every breath sent sharp jolts of pain through her face.
Chi Yunhan might not excel at much, but her fists were rock-hard. One solid hit, and it felt like her nose might just fall off.
Chi Yurong steadied herself and spoke softly, “I just want what’s best for your future. You’re my sister—why would I ever harm you?”
“Oh? So when you said you hated me, found me disgusting, wished I’d die, and hoped I’d fall off a building—that was all a joke?” Chi Yunhan shot back. “And scheming to turn everyone against me—just a misunderstanding?”
Chi Yurong frowned. “Do you really think I’d say such things?”
“Of course, not…” Chi Yunhan paused, as if deep in thought. Everyone watched her closely, even Chi Yurong, trying to gauge her next move.
Then Chi Yunhan continued, “Right, what you actually said was that you’d get me transferred to the perfumery lab as a perfumer. That as soon as my design was approved, you’d talk to Twilight and report it to the higher-ups. So… when are you keeping that promise?”
Chi Yurong’s expression flickered, but before she could respond, Lu Xiangyuan quickly chimed in, “Yeah, Sister Yurong, you promised so clearly back then.”
Chi Yurong froze. When had she ever said that?
But then Chi Yunhan turned to Zuo Yijing. “You were in the office the whole time—you heard her too, right?”
Zuo Yijing thought about it. Chi Yurong had always treated Chi Yunhan well, so it wasn’t far-fetched that she’d say something like that. She nodded—then wondered to herself: Had Chi Yurong really said it? Why was she denying it now?
Either way, the look on Chi Yurong’s face was priceless.
Chi Yunhan clapped her hands. “See? You’re all talk and no action, just stirring up resentment. Even my coworkers bring me milk and make me coffee—unlike you, who only knows how to run her mouth.”
The office staff said, “They felt a little flattered by the praise… but, well, she wasn’t wrong.”
Chi Yurong stood there, humiliated and speechless.
All she could muster was a stiff, “I’ll… consider it. Since you got the design approved, just focus on doing a good job.” Then she pulled out her phone, pretending to take a call, and hurried off, claiming she had urgent matters to attend to.
She hurried away, but Chi Yunhan wasn’t done yet. Determined, she chased after Chi Yurong and continued, “Don’t forget to get me into the Perfume Lab. You promised me, and I’m waiting for you to come get me.”
Chi Yunhan shouted so loudly that several departments heard her. Since Chi Yurong had already humiliated her thoroughly in the company, she might as well throw all shame to the wind.
Chi Yurong, on the other hand, was different. In the company, she was the pure and noble queen. With Chi Yunhan’s outburst, everyone’s attention would now be on Chi Yurong—but Chi Yurong would never actually get her into the Perfume Lab.
As for whether her intentions were genuine or fake, wouldn’t everyone see through it now?
Anyone who couldn’t tell was an idiot!
Chi Yunhan was Twilight’s personally approved designer. Forget walking sideways—even if she crawled or rolled around, no one could stop her.
At the peak of her triumph, how could she stay silent?
Chi Yunhan strutted back, hands on her hips, brimming with confidence.
Truthfully, she wasn’t usually this bold, nor did she have any powerful backing. She tended to endure what she could, only acting out when pushed too far. But today was different.
Sitting back in her chair, fingers resting on her knees, she still felt a sense of unreality. She quietly asked the stunned Zuo Yijing, “Did Twilight really approve my design? What did HR say?”
Zuo Yijing nodded repeatedly. “It’s true! The HR manager confirmed it! If you don’t believe it, you can ask Twilight yourself—don’t you have her contact?”
Chi Yunhan shook her head like a rattle drum. Twilight’s words were far too cutting. What if she asked and Twilight denied it, saying she’d misheard?
Even if this was a dream, she’d keep it beautiful—she absolutely refused to let it turn into a nightmare.
Thinking this, she still logged into her work account and took a look. Sure enough, beneath the email she’d sent, there was a glaring reply: Approved.
She scrutinized the design again. It was actually quite simple—a small square bottle. Upon closer inspection, the details on the body became clear.
Around the waist was the ridged texture of tuberose, while the right side featured a curved, slanted cut, resembling a woman’s slender waist—graceful and alluring in the night, as if her clothes were about to slip away in the wind…
Tuberose.
She’d been in such a rush today that she hadn’t had time to dwell on it, but last night, someone had offered to help her, volunteering to be her model—their shirt half-draped over their elbows, asking if they looked beautiful enough…
Chi Yunhan swallowed hard and then raised her hand.
Pinch the philtrum, pinch the philtrum—snap out of it!
Chi Yunhan, oh Chi Yunhan, you’re truly shameless. Jiang Muning was just transforming—how could you imagine her undressed? You’re such a pervert!
You must be in heat, letting your thoughts turn so filthy.
Just as she was thinking this, her phone buzzed. A message popped up on her personal account.
Jiang Muning: Stop thinking about me so often.
It’s hot.
Hot?
She was burning up too.
…
That evening, Chi Yunhan stretched and prepared to leave work.
She hadn’t done much all day—just gone around telling everyone that Chi Yurong was going to get her into the Perfume Lab, that Chi Yurong was working so hard just for her.
All that talking had left her throat sore.
She went to meet Lu Xiangyuan to leave together.
Lu Xiangyuan had a second-hand electric scooter and gave her a ride to PFE, taking the opportunity to ask about Jiang Muning. “What does your wife do at PFE?”
“Just a small-time employee!” Chi Yunhan said. “Standing all day, assembly line work, quality inspection.”
“Didn’t you go ask her yourself?” Lu Xiangyuan pressed.
“When I matched with her, the profile said she was just a small employee, a fellow working stiff like me,” Chi Yunhan sighed wistfully. “PFE doesn’t allow omegas in, so I’ve never been to her company.”
Indeed, PFE was extremely strict about personnel control.
Lu Xiangyuan comforted her, “Employment discrimination exists in every industry. PFE is so strict because Twilight is exceptionally capable. There was a period when PFE’s sales were declining, and there was a lot of negative talk from the outside. It was she who turned the tide and pulled PFE back from the brink.”
Chi Yunhan had heard about this too. That’s how Twilight’s reputation spread—picky, serious, decisive, and one more thing: she didn’t like omegas. In the future, she would probably look for a female alpha as a partner.
Thinking about it, it made sense. After all, Twilight’s value was high. She single-handedly led the company back to its peak and built her perfume empire. With countless employees under the sun, what did omegas amount to?
Chi Yunhan said, “Speaking of which, if I hadn’t been so shameless back then, the company wouldn’t have taken me either. When we go to work, the moment they see our secondary gender, they don’t want us. The living conditions for omegas are just too harsh.”
Lu Xiangyuan nodded in agreement and added, “I also heard a rumor—Twilight doesn’t discriminate against omegas because of that. It’s because when she was eighteen, an omega bit her. After that, she fell seriously ill and almost died. For Twilight’s safety, PFE banned omegas from working there.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, that omega is really despicable,” Chi Yunhan said, genuinely putting herself in that position. “With that one bite, she ruined the careers of so many omegas—like me. Back in the day, in my youthful prime, PFE was my dream palace.”
She gritted her teeth. “A criminal for the ages! The root of all evil!”
Lu Xiangyuan laughed. “You can’t say that.”
Chi Yunhan said, “True, we omegas are all very proper. We never bite people randomly—it’s always the alphas who do that. Rumors are just rumors, slandering people for no reason. Alphas are all terrible—not a single good one among them.”
When two people chat, it’s inevitable they’ll touch on some extreme topics. As an omega herself, Chi Yunhan naturally sided with omegas. She added, “Of course, my wife is an exception. She’s a very gentlemanly and polite alpha who always carries a bite guard with her. She never bites people randomly.”
“You…”
“What about me?” Chi Yunhan caught on. “You’re an alpha too. I wasn’t insulting you—you’re also an exception.”
Lu Xiangyuan said, “You shouldn’t be called Chi Yunhan. You should be called ‘Famous Double Standard’,” Chi Double Standard.
The two companies weren’t far apart, and they arrived in just over ten minutes. Lu Xiangyuan pulled the car over and changed the subject. “Have you two… you know? I feel like your pheromones have been more oppressive lately.”
Ah, this topic made Chi Yunhan sigh too. Logically speaking, they’d been together for almost half a month now, so why hadn’t they even held hands yet?
Lu Xiangyuan asked again, “How long until your heat?”
“End of the month.”
“You should pay attention. Maybe she’s just reserved and has been hinting at you, but you didn’t pick up on it.”
Chi Yunhan grew even more frustrated. She squatted by the roadside with a sigh. She had dropped Jiang Muning plenty of hints, but Jiang Muning kept rejecting them. She really couldn’t tell if Jiang Muning was hinting back at her.
“Actions speak louder than words. What they say isn’t what they mean,” Lu Xiangyuan shared her wisdom. “When a woman says no, she actually wants you to keep going.”
Chi Yunhan only half-understood. “Isn’t that just forcing things?”
“It’s called playing hard to get, a push-and-pull tactic!” Lu Xiangyuan declared. “I’ve been in relationships—I know better.”
That last bit convinced Chi Yunhan. She then asked, “Then what does it mean when a woman keeps saying ‘oh’?”
Lu Xiangyuan choked.
When a woman says “oh,” it usually means her kidneys aren’t up to the task.
After waiting for what felt like ages without Jiang Muning showing up, Chi Yunhan was still mulling over arranging a meeting between Jiang Muning and her friends to strengthen their bond. She texted Jiang Muning to ask, but unfortunately, Jiang Muning said she had to work overtime that evening.
“No worries, let’s see if we can find time next Saturday or Sunday,” Lu Xiangyuan said. “Just don’t say you’re busy again then. I’ll head back first.”
Chi Yunhan waved her off. Once Lu Xiangyuan was gone, she called Jiang Muning. She’d been waiting here every day lately, and she was pretty sure the locals recognized her by now—they even nodded at her whenever they saw her.
Feeling a little self-conscious, Chi Yunhan hid behind a tree to make the call. “So what time are you getting off? I’ll wait outside. Want me to order you some takeout?”
“I’ll have someone bring you up,” Jiang Muning replied.
Go inside PFE? Chi Yunhan’s heart skipped a beat, but she quickly shook her head. “No, no. Doesn’t your company ban omegas from entering? I can’t let you break the rules. There’s a café near your office—I’ll wait there.”
“I’ll be working late,” Jiang Muning said. “You can wait in the company’s reception area. It’s just a policy—it’ll be abolished soon.”
“Still not okay!” Chi Yunhan said firmly. “What if some petty person uses it against you if we don’t follow the rules?”
Take her, for example. She was late once, and her manager accused her of always being late, even calling her out in meetings. It was humiliating every time.
Jiang Muning sounded almost exasperated. “If I say it’s fine, it’s fine.”
“I’m leaving. Don’t come down—just call me when you’re done,” Chi Yunhan said into the phone. “Be good.”
Jiang Muning stayed silent.
But thinking about it—Jiang Muning, such a strict and principled person, suddenly inviting her into the office and bending the rules for her—it felt a little… improper.
A woman who abandoned her principles was kind of hot.
Even though Jiang Muning was willing to make an exception for her, Chi Yunhan couldn’t let her compromise herself. Summoning her courage, she added, “Be good.”
“…Oh.”
Before Jiang Muning could react, Chi Yunhan was already flustered, her face burning. She hurriedly said, “I’m hanging up now.”
There was no response. Only after ending the call did Chi Yunhan realize Jiang Muning might be upset. Turning it over in her mind, she suddenly felt like she’d missed out on something huge.
Had Jiang Muning been hinting that she wanted to mess around in the office?
Oh my god, rejecting her like that was way too clueless! Jiang Muning must be heartbroken!
I’m the worst!!
