- My Best Friend is so Popular it's a Problem (BL)
- Chapter 27 - It’s not an act anymore
“Yuto, you’re so cute. Really… I love you.”
By the time I realized it, I was already in Haruto’s arms. With my head still hazy, the only thing I could clearly understand was that Haruto was holding me gently, as if wrapping me up. The steady thump of our hearts overlapped, echoing softly together — it felt so warm, so comforting.
“Har…to.”
“Yeah?”
My voice came out muffled, trapped inside his arms. Haruto slowly loosened his embrace, letting me go.
His face was beautiful, a little seductive, and yet he smiled so softly — so happily — as he looked straight at me.
It was a look I hadn’t seen in so long. A smile that belonged to my best friend.
I felt relieved.
It finally felt like Haruto had come back to me.
“Yuto…”
Haruto’s hand reached up to my cheek. His fingers moved again and again, gently, tenderly, like he was touching something precious.
“We’re lovers now. Not just friends anymore… Yuto, you’re my real lover.”
“Ah…”
The word lover slipped from his beautiful lips, so soft, so alluring.
For a while, it didn’t even feel real. My mouth hung open, completely blank.
And then…
What flashed through my mind was that clumsy, awkward kiss I had forced on Haruto earlier.
Aaaaaaahhhhhh!!
R-right, that’s what happened! I shouted my love at him — out loud — and then…!
“Aah! Yuto, seriously, how can you be so cute?!”
He hugged me again, tight and strong, and I panicked, flailing helplessly. In the corner of my vision, I saw Sora, already packed up, watching us with a wry smile.
There was no one else left in the classroom but me, Haruto, and Sora.
“Haruto, Yuto — I’ll go ahead. You two probably want some time alone.”
“Ah, So… Sora!”
I reached out in a hurry, wanting to say wait, but Haruto gently caught my hand and spoke over me.
“Yeah, sorry for worrying you. See you tomorrow!”
“Got it!”
Sora grinned brightly at Haruto’s words, waved at us, and left the classroom.
Now, only Haruto and I were left behind.
“Yuto…”
He called my name softly, and my heart gave a strong, heavy beat.
The way Haruto looked straight at me — his eyes had a seriousness I had never seen before.
