My Boss Always Flirts With Me - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: Drunk
On Sunday night at 9 p.m., Yuan Cheng received a call from He Chi. He looked at the name on the screen and hesitated for a few seconds.
After all, a call from the boss during rest time was not a good thing. It meant overtime and the abrupt end of his happy time. He was in a dilemma for a moment but, guided by his sense of responsibility, he answered the call.
“Hello, CEO He. Is everything okay?”
There was indeed something, but it was not work-related.
Yuan Cheng was stunned for two seconds after hearing the request. “Go pick up Manager Fang?”
“Yes. Would you mind going on a trip?”
This request was very strange. If Manager Fang was drunk at a party, he could have been sent home by his colleagues or by a taxi. Why did He Chi want him to pick him up, and why did He Chi personally instruct him? It didn’t make any sense.
Yuan Cheng subconsciously wanted to refuse. “How about… you let Xiao Zhu and the others send him?”
After he said that, there was a moment of silence on the other end. Yuan Cheng couldn’t guess what was on his boss’s mind and felt a little uneasy. However, a few seconds later, his phone suddenly made a sound:
“XX Bao account has been credited with 3000 yuan.”
Yuan Cheng was stunned. What’s going on?!
He Chi simply explained, “This trip counts as overtime.”
He continued, “Fang Ci is drunk, and I don’t feel comfortable with him taking a taxi. Please pick him up and tell them I sent you. Xiao Zhu and the others have also had a lot to drink, so let them go home and rest.”
Yuan Cheng’s mind was filled with the sound of money rattling. He felt that his boss was just concerned about his employees. “…Alright, I’ll go right now.”
He quickly got dressed and went out.
Outside the bar, Xiao Zhu and the others were filled with regret. They apologized to He Chi in a flurry of words and then stood in the cool breeze to cool their heads.
“It’s all your fault. What kind of terrible idea was that? Don’t you know how many colleagues and work groups we have on WeChat?”
Cheng Wen was very wronged. “How was I supposed to know that Fang Ci would pin the boss’s name to the top? And you guys didn’t stop me when I was talking…”
Xiao Zhu sighed in sorrow. “My bad. I never expected Little Ci Ci to be such a workaholic! I’m seriously going to cry!”
Everyone was down in the dumps. Just as they were worrying, Xiao Zhu received a call from Yuan Cheng.
“Are we going to get fired?” After all, Fang Ci was their department manager. A department manager insulting the CEO… who knew what the consequences would be?
She was trembling as she put the phone on speaker. After a few words, she realized that Yuan Cheng didn’t know about the game and their situation.
“Send me the address. I’ll be there soon. Someone stay with Manager Fang. The rest of you can go home first.”
Xiao Zhu confirmed with him again, “Did CEO He really not say anything?”
Yuan Cheng was suspicious. “What else could he say? He’s just worried about your safety. You all need to be careful since you have to work tomorrow!”
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s a relief, that’s a relief!”
Yuan Cheng: “?”
Cheng Wen quickly said, “We meant that CEO He is so great. He’s so loyal!”
Yuan Cheng laughed twice and hung up the phone.
Their party location was not far from Yuan Cheng’s home, only a twenty-minute drive.
When he arrived, Yuan Cheng helped Fang Ci into the car. Xiao Zhu asked Yuan Cheng, “Do you know his home address?”
Yuan Cheng said, “I know.” He Chi had already given it to him on the way. Although he didn’t understand why He Chi had Fang Ci’s address, it saved him a lot of trouble, so he didn’t have to look up the company employee’s information.
Xiao Zhu and the others felt relieved and went their separate ways.
Fang Ci was fast asleep in the back seat. Yuan Cheng drove very steadily along the empty streets. On the way, he received another call from He Chi, who told him to let him know when he was about to arrive.
Yuan Cheng agreed.
Thirty minutes later, the car turned into a high-end residential area. The further Yuan Cheng drove in, the more he felt something was off. “Why do these buildings look so familiar?” he muttered to himself for a long time. He then looked at the name of the neighborhood and remembered that He Chi also seemed to live in this community, but he couldn’t remember which building. He couldn’t help but sigh, “I didn’t expect Manager Fang to be so rich.” He definitely couldn’t afford a house here on his salary.
As if to confirm his suspicion, the car just reached the main gate when he saw He Chi’s figure.
Yuan Cheng quickly stopped the car and got out. “CEO He, why are you here? I can send Manager Fang.”
As he spoke, he was about to open the back door to help Fang Ci, but he heard He Chi say, “I’ll do it.”
Yuan Cheng’s movements froze. He saw He Chi bend down and pick up the person from the back seat. The posture was… he couldn’t describe it. It was just very strange. He felt helpless standing on the side, so he let out a dry laugh. “You two are neighbors, huh? I just found out.”
He Chi didn’t say anything.
Their conversation seemed to have woken up Fang Ci. He stirred in He Chi’s arms and buried his face in his chest. Yuan Cheng felt suffocated. His two hands trembled as he reached out. “Manager Fang is drunk and a restless sleeper. How about I help you…”
He Chi glanced at him. Yuan Cheng froze and swallowed. He Chi said, “Thanks for your help tonight.”
Yuan Cheng looked at the two of them, a little flustered. He quickly said, “No problem, it’s what I should do…”
He Chi left with Fang Ci in his arms. Just as Yuan Cheng was about to turn around, he saw an even more shocking scene.
Fang Ci seemed to have pushed He Chi, but the usually cold-faced boss didn’t get angry. He just lowered his head and sighed, “Be good, don’t make a fuss.”
Yuan Cheng was completely thrown off.
Even more terrifying was that they entered the same building. Yes, the same building, and the entire community was made up of small, single-family houses.
Yuan Cheng sat back in his car, wiped his face, looked down at the navigation, and then looked up at the place where the two had disappeared. He finally confirmed a certain incredible fact. His thousands of brain cells instantly turned to dust, leaving him with only one thought:
“Holy crap!”
After they entered the house, He Chi helped Fang Ci take off his coat. Fang Ci had already woken up on the way. He squinted, staring intently at the man in front of him.
He Chi asked him, “Are you feeling okay?”
Fang Ci grumbled and clung to him like an octopus. He was still drunk, just with his eyes open.
He Chi had seen Fang Ci in this state before. Although he didn’t like people who drank too much, Fang Ci was an exception. When he was drunk, he became more clingy.
He was also a little childishly arrogant.
For example, he would rub against his neck and pretend to bite him. All the things he wouldn’t do when he was sober, he dared to do when he was drunk.
“Didn’t you say you hate me?” He Chi pulled his collar away from Fang Ci’s mouth. Fang Ci just held on with his two small canine teeth.
He Chi gave up on that, but he didn’t forget the important matter. He took advantage of Fang Ci’s state to try and get some answers. “Why do you hate me?”
Fang Ci tilted his head. A look of grievance appeared on his face, but his mouth became even tighter. He Chi put him down on the comforter, reached out, and touched his lips. His fingertips brushed against his teeth.
“Tell me,” he said in a low voice.
Fang Ci’s eyes were unfocused. He watched him for a long time before finally letting go and saying, “He Chi bullies me. You help me hit him.”
He Chi: “?”
“I’m telling you, Teacher He is too much. He’s not good at all! Don’t get close to him!”
He Chi: “…”
“I got a zero on the exam, and I didn’t even understand the question. The teacher scolded me. It’s all his fault.”
These words could only be said by someone who was drunk. He Chi didn’t understand, but at least he was letting it out. He frowned, and his voice held a tenderness he didn’t even notice. “How do you want to punish him?”
Fang Ci stopped. His gaze was fixed on his face and then slid to his neck.
Then He Chi saw the drunk boy suddenly move. He bit his Adam’s apple with about half of his strength, causing a faint stinging sensation. His pounce was so sudden that it almost knocked him over.
He Chi held him by the waist. Fang Ci was sitting on his lap. He Chi looked down at his flushed face, his throat moving slightly.
Fang Ci seemed to have found something more interesting. He stopped biting and started sucking, playing with the bump in his mouth.
He had never been so difficult.
He Chi’s arms tightened.
After some time, Fang Ci finally let go and rested his head on He Chi’s shoulder, panting. They hadn’t done anything, but they were both starting to feel uncomfortable. He Chi’s eyes deepened. He held Fang Ci’s head with his right hand and said, his voice melting into the night, “Where else do you want to bite? You can bite me.”
Fang Ci grunted, not sure if he had heard him.
He Chi then pulled him away a little to better assess his state. Their gazes met, one sober, one hazy.
“Are you satisfied?”
Fang Ci’s eyelashes fluttered.
He Chi saw that he had finished his tantrum and was getting drowsy again. He couldn’t help but feel helpless and a little amused. Such a good boy. When he’s drunk, he doesn’t recognize people and even tries to bite.
He was more lively than usual, which reminded him of the manager Fang who would argue his case at work. Perhaps Fang Ci was only docile in front of him.
Only he had seen him so obedient and sweet.
This uniqueness gave him a strange sense of joy.
There weren’t many moments in his life that made him happy. Most of them were at work, like when he developed a new product that was unique in the market. That could be called a “sense of accomplishment.” Did this sense of accomplishment also exist in marriage?
He rarely let his mind wander. He Chi let this feeling spread, experiencing an unfamiliar sensation.
Fang Ci snuggled back into his arms. All he could hear was his breathing.
The room was silent again.
“Fang Ci?” he called out to him. This time, he didn’t get any response.
It was a bit of a shame. According to his plan, they were supposed to have a talk today.
In this state, it was impossible for them to have a proper conversation. The dialogue was almost all ineffective. The only thing he could perceive was that Fang Ci was not very happy with him.
Perhaps some of his actions had made Fang Ci uncomfortable, or maybe he hadn’t fulfilled his husbandly duties in some way.
He couldn’t figure it out for now. He could only wait for Fang Ci to wake up.
The two of them slept side by side as usual. He Chi was a light sleeper that night and woke up several times. Every once in a while, he would check on Fang Ci’s condition. It was a good thing he was taking care of him in time, as he found that Fang Ci’s face looked a little off in the morning, and his temperature was high.
Fang Ci had suddenly fallen ill and was running a high fever.
He Chi thought about it and canceled all of his Monday morning meetings.
