The bus stop near the school was almost empty. The two of them sat on a bench holding hands, waiting for the bus. Ding Chen was wearing a white chiffon shirt paired with a pair of jeans, and at that moment, she was nervously fiddling with her bangs.
“Ding Chen?”
Hearing a familiar voice calling her name, Ding Chen turned to look. Qiu Yanzhen was walking towards her with the dog she had seen in the photo. Today, she had her hair in a ponytail and was wearing a short-sleeved chiffon shirt. However, unlike her, Qiu Yanzhen’s shirt was light blue and had a white ribbon bow on the front. She was also wearing a white short skirt, looking pure and elegant.

The little black dog curiously stretched its neck to sniff Ding Chen’s hands and clothes, its wet nose pressing against the back of her hand.
“I didn’t expect the MRT to be this fast,” Ding Chen said as she squatted down. “Can I touch it?”
“Sure.” Qiu Yanzhen followed suit and squatted down, gently patting her dog’s back.
Ding Chen tentatively reached out her hand towards the dog’s head. The puppy sniffed and obediently accepted her touch. Its short fur felt very smooth but a bit prickly.
“It likes people to scratch its neck.”
The black dog, panting because of the hot weather, looked as if it were smiling, its tail wagging vigorously, seeming to really like this new human acquaintance.
Ding Chen followed the instructions and reached out with both hands to rub the dog’s neck. Before long, the dog burrowed into her arms, almost causing Ding Chen to fall.
“It really likes you,” Qiu Yanzhen said with a smile, reaching out to steady Ding Chen.
After Ding Chen and the puppy were both satisfied, they got up and walked to the park. The park was only a three-minute walk from the MRT station. Since it was a consecutive holiday, there were more people in the park than usual. Many parents brought their children out to play, elderly people strolled in groups under the shade of the trees, and some people, like them, were walking their dogs.
The two walked side by side on the park path, with two rows of trees planted along both sides of the path. Qiu Yanzhen handed the leash to Ding Chen, and the dog walked ahead, matching their pace and sniffing around on the ground.
“What is its name?” Ding Chen held the leash, experiencing the feeling of walking a dog, and felt a bit happy.

While chatting, the two of them arrived at the pet activity area in the park. After entering the enclosure, Qiu Yanzhen untied the leash, and Xiao Chen immediately dashed out like a black lightning bolt.
There were quite a few people in the pet area, and the dogs, like their owners, were divided into two or three groups, playing and socializing. Ding Chen and Qiu Yanzhen walked over to Xiao Chen to keep an eye on her, to prevent any accidents.

“Xiao Chen!”

“Xiao Chen is so well-behaved,” the girl said, extending her empty hand. “Come here, shake hands.”
Upon hearing the command, Xiao Chen immediately lifted her paw to shake hands with the girl, and then successfully received a reward. After repeating this a few times, to avoid her eating too much, Qiu Yanzhen sent Xiao Chen back to play with the other dog.
