- Chapter 5 - Intimate Contact with Senior Sister
The day was still early. An Ran took out the Qi cultivation manual her Master had given her before leaving and began to read:
“Still your heart like still water, empty all thoughts. Inhale deeply, exhale three times…”
Isn’t this just the kind of mantra you could find on Baidu in any modern society?
An Ran sat cross-legged on the bed and began practicing according to the manual.
After just one cycle, she felt her entire body relax, and the fatigue vanished completely. Could it really be this miraculous?
Maintaining her cross-legged posture, An Ran closed her eyes and focused on regulating her breathing. Soon, she entered a meditative state.
A faint white light gradually enveloped her, almost completely submerging her.
Her body seemed to emit a soft glow, blending seamlessly with the surrounding scenery.
The setting sun streamed through the window, bathing An Ran in its golden light, her figure standing out vividly against the white radiance.
Her face remained serene, but her heart overflowed with joy and excitement.
Slowly, An Ran opened her eyes, a bright spark flashing in her gaze.
This sensation was completely different from anything she had experienced before. She noticed beads of sweat on her skin, and her body felt lighter, as if a vital energy were circulating within her.
An Ran raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead, feeling her body brimming with power.
Is this what it feels like to cultivate immortality? she wondered inwardly.
She glanced at Sister Cat, still sound asleep, and quietly went to wash up and change out of her sweat-soaked clothes.
Later that day, True Person Yun Hua returned. An Ran immediately rushed to greet her. When her master saw that An Ran had already entered the Qi Refining Stage, a look of astonishment spread across her face.
“Hahaha! You reached Qi Refining in just one day!” she exclaimed, unable to contain her delight. “You truly are a genius disciple of our sect!”
As she spoke, she released a Thousand-Paper Crane, instructing the servants to prepare the necessary medicinal herbs for An Ran’s medicinal bath.
An Ran gazed at the Thousand-Paper Crane in her master’s hand, her eyes filled with envy. “Master, can I learn that too?”
“Of course! I’ll teach you right now!” True Person Yun Hua replied cheerfully, readily granting An Ran’s request.
After teaching An Ran the Thousand-Paper Crane technique, the medicinal bath was ready.
She urged An Ran to hurry and soak in the bath, specifically instructing her to soak for at least two hours.
An Ran hurried back to her room to inform Sister Cat.
Sister Cat, still drowsy, mumbled a vague acknowledgment. An Ran decided to take the medicinal bath alone.
As An Ran prepared to undress, she suddenly paused. After a moment’s thought, she reached for Sister Cat’s bath basin and scooped out some medicinal bathwater, pouring it into Sister Cat’s tub.
She had heard Granny Zhang say that this medicinal bath could strengthen the body, improve health, and accelerate cultivation progress. A thought sparked in her mind:Â If I give Sister Cat some too, it might do her good!
Without further hesitation, An Ran gently lifted the drowsy Sister Cat and placed her beside her. The two began soaking together, the unique medicinal fragrance of the bathwater filling the entire room.
An hour passed in this manner. From beyond the screen came a kind voice—Granny Zhang.
Granny Zhang slowly approached, her face radiating a warm smile. “Miss An Ran,” she said gently, “it’s time to come out now.”
As she spoke, Granny Zhang produced a snow-white Personal Disciple robe from the Azure Mist Sect and laid it carefully on a long bench.
The robe was pure white as snow, adorned with intricate runes that seemed to flow across its surface, carrying the faint resonance of profound Dao principles.
“This is the standard Personal Disciple robe of the Azure Mist Sect,” Granny Zhang explained. “It also bears the emblem of Yaoguang Peak’s Personal Disciples.”
With that, Granny Zhang turned and withdrew. An Ran stood up.
She quickly threw on her clothes and then lifted Sister Cat, gently drying the water from her fur.
After her bath, Sister Cat returned to her cozy little den and began meticulously grooming her wet fur.
An Ran watched her and said, “Sister Cat, why don’t you try practicing the Qi cultivation mantra?”
Sister Cat tilted her head, puzzled. “I’m just a cat. Would a human mantra even work for me?”
“Just try it!” An Ran urged, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Seeing An Ran’s eager expression, Sister Cat felt a surge of curiosity. “Alright, let’s give it a shot!”
But after a few attempts, Sister Cat gave up.
She flopped onto her back, belly exposed, and declared, “I guess I really am just a cat.”
An Ran pondered for a moment, then suggested, “Let’s check the Scripture Pavilion later for cultivation methods suitable for demon beasts!”
Sister Cat nodded without much enthusiasm. “You’ve been cultivating all day,” she said. “You must be tired. Get some rest! We have classes early tomorrow.”
An Ran nodded in agreement. “Okay, I’ll go to sleep now. You should rest too, Sister Cat.”
With that, An Ran lay down and closed her eyes.
Sister Cat continued grooming her fur.
In high spirits after her bath, Sister Cat finished cleaning her fur and then trotted back to her den, where she rolled around contentedly.
Late that night, Sister Cat suddenly felt a strange energy surging within her body, as if an uncontrollable force was coursing through her veins.
This energy erupted through her fur, causing the red dot on her forehead to glow more intensely, as if a fire was burning within her.
The fur around her stood on end, and her tail straightened into a rigid line.
With a sudden, spring-like leap, Sister Cat shot toward the window and vanished into the night, leaving only a faint rustling sound in the air.
At that moment, An Ran, exhausted from days of travel and the extreme physical strain of cultivating to the Qi Refining Stage, was already in a deep sleep.
In another room, True Person Yun Hua quietly opened her eyes, listening intently to the sound of Sister Cat’s departure.
After a moment, Yun Hua closed her eyes again, her Divine Sense silently expanding outward. She followed the heavy footsteps of a large demon beast, gradually approaching the rear mountain.
Her Divine Sense swiftly traversed the mountain forest, relentlessly pursuing the distinct aura emanating from Sister Cat—an aura that clearly did not belong to a demon beast.
At that moment, True Person Yun Hua subtly flicked her fingers, using her Divine Sense to erase the traces of Sister Cat’s paw prints.
She then turned and headed toward the rear mountain.
It wasn’t until dawn approached that Sister Cat returned, her delicate footsteps barely audible as she carried the scent of early summer breezes and a faint hint of morning dew.
Silently, she leaped onto the small balcony and slipped through the intricately carved wooden window. With a graceful leap, she landed in her cozy nest, stretched out in a comfortable sleeping posture, and quietly closed her eyes.
When An Ran woke up, she found Sister Cat still lazily curled up in her nest, her fluffy tail shimmering with a translucent quality in the morning light.
An Ran tried to coax Sister Cat out of bed, hoping she would come to class with her.
But Sister Cat, with the unique arrogance of a feline, used her lithe limbs and stubbornly swishing tail to reject An Ran’s request.
In Sister Cat’s view, human cultivation classes held little value for a cat who judged things from a feline perspective.
Rather than waste time and energy following An Ran around, she preferred to stay home and sleep.
Besides, this was Yaoguang Peak, a place free from danger. In short, Sister Cat refused to leave her warm, cozy nest.
Seeing Sister Cat’s state, An Ran felt helpless but had no choice but to let her continue sleeping.
She got up alone, quickly tidied herself, and ate breakfast. Just as she was leaving, she saw Gu Ruohan arrive.
An Ran skillfully stepped onto Gu Ruohan’s Flying Sword, her hands instinctively wrapping around Gu Ruohan’s slender waist. Gu Ruohan activated the sword, carrying them both toward the Academy.
Throughout the journey, Gu Ruohan remained silent, her face retaining its usual impassive expression, making it impossible to glimpse her inner world.
This left An Ran feeling somewhat disheartened, and the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward.
An Ran sighed inwardly and tried to break the ice, asking the quintessential Chinese greeting: “Eldest Senior Sister, have you eaten?”
Gu Ruohan merely glanced at her before replying coolly, “Not yet.”
This response left An Ran feeling puzzled, and she couldn’t help but mutter to herself.
Then, An Ran asked, “Eldest Senior Sister, are you practicing Bigu?”
Gu Ruohan’s expression remained serene. She nodded and replied, “Mm.”
Bigu? That means not eating, An Ran thought to herself.
An Ran’s face darkened. If my sister were here, she’d be laughing at my awkward small talk, she grumbled inwardly.
Realizing she was forcing conversation, An Ran decided to ride in silence.
She pressed her cheek against Gu Ruohan’s back, inhaling deeply. The faint, refreshing fragrance emanating from Gu Ruohan was utterly captivating.
An Ran adored this scent, finding it comforting and reassuring.
Though they no longer spoke, An Ran still cherished the closeness with the beautiful woman.
She loved physical intimacy with Gu Ruohan, especially when they were pressed together, feeling warm and secure.
“We’re here,” Gu Ruohan announced.
With that, Gu Ruohan retracted her Flying Sword and retrieved a cloth pouch from her Storage Pouch, its contents exuding the rich aroma of ink. She handed it to An Ran, saying, “These are the Four Treasures of the Scholar’s Study, prepared for you. Please use them.”
“Thank you, Eldest Senior Sister!”
An Ran accepted the pouch, her face beaming with delight. As expected of the Eldest Senior Sister—always so thoughtful! she marveled inwardly.
Clutching the bag, An Ran followed Senior Sister into the classroom.
The moment they stepped inside, the once-noisy class fell silent. Every head turned in unison to stare at An Ran, pairs of bright eyes scrutinizing the transfer student trailing behind the Eldest Senior Sister.
The newcomer, An Ran, maintained her innocent and harmless demeanor, asking with feigned naivety, “Eldest Senior Sister, do you have to attend classes like us too?”
Senior Sister nodded helplessly. “Yes, I have to attend classes as well.”
An Ran stroked her chin, glanced around the room, and asked curiously, “Then where do you usually sit, Eldest Senior Sister?”
Senior Sister pointed to the teacher’s podium. “I sit there.”
Upon hearing this, An Ran’s expression froze instantly. She stood rooted to the spot, unable to process the information.
The disciples in the class turned red with suppressed laughter, but the Eldest Senior Sister’s imposing presence kept them from bursting out.
An Ran felt deeply embarrassed. So this Eldest Senior Sister was actually a teacher? What a blunder!
She couldn’t help but think of her older sister. If she were here, she’d be rolling on the floor laughing, probably even losing a tooth from the sheer amusement.
