- My Cold Senior Sister Keeps Flirting with Me
- Chapter 6 - In My Class, No Note-Taking Required
Introduction to Immortal Cultivation Ethics and Daoist Considerations was an exceptionally profound course, its primary aim being to purify the hearts of cultivators through the guidance of the Heavenly Dao, thereby enabling them to reach higher realms. Only when a cultivator’s inner self is pure can they truly comprehend the Heavenly Dao, untainted by worldly desires.
At that moment, An Ran stifled a yawn with a hint of resignation.
Though she deeply respected her Eldest Senior Sister, the monotonous drone of the textbook reading was making her drowsy.
The dry, scripture-like content left her musing:Â So immortal cultivation really is a profound Daoist art!
An Ran struggled to keep her eyelids from drooping, forcing herself to focus on the text. When she spotted the few illustrations of characters in the book, she suddenly realized that her dormant “good student” genes had been awakened.
Without hesitation, she picked up a pen and added a beard, a hat, and a series of meme-worthy expressions to the face of the elderly cultivator in the illustration.
Meanwhile, Sister Cat, who was sleeping at home, suddenly began to writhe in pain, tumbling out of her cozy nest.
She rolled and convulsed on the floor, her body arching into a tight ball.
At that moment, a gentle hand began stroking Sister Cat, seemingly soothing her with a gentle force.
Soon, Sister Cat’s body gradually calmed down. She slowly relaxed and drifted back to sleep.
The person carefully cradled Sister Cat in their arms and gently placed her back into the small basket. Then, they turned and left.
Meanwhile, An Ran remained engrossed in her doodling, her attention completely absorbed by the scribbles. It wasn’t until Senior Sister approached her that she vaguely noticed any movement.
“There’s no need to take notes in my class,” Gu Ruohan said slowly in her cool, clear voice.
Hearing this, An Ran snapped back to reality. She looked up and realized Gu Ruohan was staring at the doodles she had drawn in her textbook, having clearly seen everything.
An Ran’s face flushed hot with embarrassment and a hint of panic. She had been caught daydreaming by the Eldest Senior Sister! She quickly put away her brush and focused on the lesson.
After what felt like an eternity, the bell finally rang signaling the end of class. However, An Ran was asked to stay behind.
The Eldest Senior Sister didn’t scold her. Instead, she instructed An Ran to transcribe the day’s lecture notes.
An Ran dutifully began copying. The textbook was densely packed with characters, and the transcription alone filled a volume as thick as a high school Chinese textbook.
Since An Ran wasn’t skilled at writing with a brush, and the text was in complex traditional characters, she worked painstakingly slowly. It took her several hours, until her hand ached, to finally finish.
An Ran gazed out the window as the sky gradually darkened, even the birds that had been chirping incessantly in the trees all day had fallen silent.
Seeing that An Ran had finished copying, Gu Ruohan said softly, “Alright, it’s time for us to go back.”
With that, she summoned her Flying Sword, her figure flickering as she leaped onto its blade. She then extended a hand to An Ran.
An Ran stepped forward, pressed close against Gu Ruohan’s back, and asked cautiously, “Eldest Senior Sister, are you angry?”
Gu Ruohan replied flatly, “No.”
Still uneasy, An Ran asked again, even more cautiously, “Then why have you been ignoring me all day?”
“There’s no reason,” Gu Ruohan said. “Don’t overthink it.”
An Ran secretly breathed a sigh of relief, resolving to always listen to her Eldest Senior Sister and pay close attention in class from now on.
Gu Ruohan glanced at the scattered starlight above and added, “Your aptitude is quite good. You’ve already reached the Qi Refining Stage after just one day. If you cultivate diligently, your future potential is limitless.”
“Eldest Senior Sister, what realm are you at?”
“Golden Core.”
An Ran began counting on her fingers again.
The cultivation stages for humans were:
Qi Refining Stage, Foundation Establishment Stage, Core Formation Stage, Golden Core Stage, Nascent Soul Stage, Out-of-Body Stage, Divine Transformation Stage, Void Refinement Stage, Body Integration Stage, Great Ascension Stage, Tribulation Transcendence Stage.
1, 2, 3, 4…
Three stages behind!
In reality, Gu Ruohan’s cultivation had already reached the peak of the Golden Core Stage, just one step away from breaking through to the Nascent Soul Stage.
However, she had recently encountered a bottleneck in her cultivation, preventing her from successfully advancing.
After returning to Yaoguang Peak, An Ran watched Gu Ruohan leave before heading to her own room to place the bag Gu Ruohan had given her on the table.
Next, she walked over to Sister Cat and carefully examined her. She noticed that Sister Cat had finished all the food and water An Ran had left in her bowl that morning, yet she remained curled up in her cozy bed, still drowsy as if she couldn’t get enough sleep.
An Ran couldn’t help but ask with concern, “Sister, have you been sleeping all day?”
“So tired…” Sister Cat mumbled groggily.
“The more you sleep, the more tired you get! Come on, let’s get up. I’ll take you for a bath,” An Ran said, scooping Sister Cat into her arms and carrying her to the bathroom.
The medicinal bathwater had been prepared long ago, its temperature maintained at the perfect level by magical means.
An Ran first rinsed Sister Cat with warm water, then gently lowered her into the medicinal bath. After bathing Sister Cat, she finally began her own bath.
It was peculiar, considering the Azure Mist Sect had so many servants and Yaoguang Peak was so vast, that only Master Yunhua and An Ran resided in the courtyard.
Aside from preparing An Ran’s meals, clothing, and daily necessities, and tending to the courtyard, the servants never set foot on the peak.
Rumor had it that True Person Yun Hua valued tranquility and forbade disturbances. An Ran mused that if not for her presence as a disciple, the servants might not even need to bring up meals and drinks.
Regardless, An Ran preferred it this way. With fewer people around, there was less risk of Sister Cat’s existence being exposed.
The moral standards and worldview of this world remained uncertain. Judging by today’s lesson, they emphasized cultivating virtue before seeking immortality, and nurturing character before refining the body.
Yet the world was vast, teeming with humans, demons, monsters, and all manner of creatures. No one could guarantee safety from danger.
An Ran thought to herself, Fortunately, I was taken in by this cultivation sect. From what I’ve seen so far, they seem quite righteous.
After soaking in the medicinal bath for two hours, An Ran carefully carried the drowsy Sister Cat back to their room and gently placed her in her nest. An Ran clapped her hands together, ready to begin her cultivation practice.
But as she sat cross-legged, preparing to guide qi into her body, An Ran remembered the Thousand-Paper Crane spell Master Yunhua had taught her the previous day.
She hurried to the desk, picked up a brush, and followed the Master’s instructions. First, she infused the brush tip with spiritual energy, then drew the flight incantation on the back of the paper. Finally, she wrote on the front: “Thank you for today, Eldest Senior Sister. You’re the best!”
An Ran had decided to cultivate a good relationship with Gu Ruohan, hoping to gain another powerful backer within the sect.
Once finished, she folded the paper into a Thousand-Paper Crane and watched as it fluttered its wings and flew out the window.
The crane soared out of sight within moments.
An Ran closed the window, returned to her bed, and resumed her cross-legged posture, focusing on guiding qi into her body to begin her cultivation practice.
