- My Ex Who Dumped Me Comes to Hook Me Up Every Day
- Chapter 1 - The body doesn't lie. She wasn't resisting her closeness.
Boom-boom-boom-boom…
Deep, rhythmic music reverberated through the hall.
In the center of the dance floor, couples swayed in passionate embraces, lost in the moment.
Colorful lights rained down from above, flashing across youthful faces and casting an ambiguous, intoxicating glow over the entire bar.
“Jin Zhou!”
A familiar voice cut through the noise.
Jin Zhou looked up to see Su Yun struggling through the crowd, his custom-tailored suit jacket draped over his arm.
Leaning her head in her hand, she greeted him with slurred words, “You’re here.”
Su Yun patted his new jacket affectionately before settling down and ordering a low-alcohol cocktail from the waiter.
He turned to her with a teasing grin. “Well, well, who do we have here? What’s our esteemed lawyer Jin Zhou doing drowning her sorrows?”
Jin Zhou’s eyelids felt heavy, but her voice remained steady. “Just a bit annoyed.”
Su Yun raised his eyebrows suggestively. “Your dear mother pressuring you to go on blind dates again?”
Jin Zhou shook her head. “She can’t persuade me.”
Jin Zhou’s mother, Lin Xin, was a seasoned lawyer. Mastering case materials, controlling the pace of legal proceedings—these were her basic skills.
Building on this foundation, planning her child’s life trajectory—including schooling, career, and marriage—had become second nature to her.
Even knowing she couldn’t control her adult child’s thoughts, Lin Xin refused to give up easily.
“She had someone come directly to our door.”
Su Yun’s expression shifted. “Whoa! So that’s who the door god standing at the entrance all afternoon was? Turns out it was your blind date!”
Jin Zhou remained silent, taking a small sip of her wine.
Su Yun chattered on, “You need to tell Auntie that standing in front of our firm is bad luck! It’s blocking all the wealth! I was planning to break our profit record this year!”
“I know,” Jin Zhou replied, her eyebrows drooping, looking somewhat listless.
Compared to Jin Zhou, who had grown up under strict control, Su Yun was more like the family’s little devil. She had always gotten everything she wanted from childhood, and any absurd request, once it reached her grandmother’s ears, was guaranteed to be met with: “Do it! Whatever our Yunyun wants, we’ll make it happen!”
As a result, she struggled to understand Jin Zhou’s current frustration and could only try her best to empathize.
“Why don’t you just meet them? It won’t take much time. You can appease Auntie, and if you find someone suitable, you could even get married.”
Jin Zhou only grew more irritated, shifting further away from the noisy man.
Noticing Jin Zhou’s sour expression, Su Yun quietly added the unspoken half of his sentence: “At worst, you can just do your own thing after the wedding. Plenty of people in our circle do that anyway.”
Jin Zhou twirled the wine glass in her hand. “You know I don’t like men.”
Su Yun glanced her up and down, sensing something was off.
“Wait a minute… you’re not still hung up on your first love, are you?”
Jin Zhou paused, then replied flatly, “How could I be?”
Su Yun’s heart sank.
Few in their social circle knew that Su Yun took in a few lost female college students each year.
But everyone knew about Jin Zhou’s epic first love story.
After all, she had been dumped—by another woman.
If Jin Zhou hadn’t gone abroad to study and only returned years later, the second-generation rich kids who loved gossip would have never stopped making fun of her.
As one of Jin Zhou’s closest friends, Su Yun had left the country early and missed witnessing this heart-wrenching romance firsthand.
But she had seen plenty of Jin Zhou’s drunken, manic episodes after her return.
Su Yun asked skeptically, “Are you sure you’re not?”
Jin Zhou nodded dully.
Su Yun pointed to a striking woman in the corner. “Who’s that? Do you know her?”
Jin Zhou didn’t even look up, just yawned listlessly.
“Not her.”
Su Yun: ……
Â
Great, she’s completely obsessed with her.
“What do you even like about her?”
This time, Jin Zhou answered honestly: “She’s beautiful.”
Su Yun’s false eyelashes nearly fell off in shock.
“That’s it? That’s so superficial.”
Jin Zhou drained her glass of orange sunset, exhaling a long, boozy breath.
“That’s how superficial it is.”
Though she said it, she couldn’t leave it at that. But Jin Zhou offered no further explanation.
The dizzying sensation in her head intensified. She frowned, placing her hands neatly on her lap to steady herself.
Su Yun pressed his temples, oblivious to the fact that the person beside him could barely sit upright.
He simply felt he needed to help his friend, at least to prevent her from falling into another trap.
After pondering for a while, Su Yun’s eyes suddenly lit up. *A beautiful woman?*
He knew plenty of beautiful women, all of whom he knew well.
As the saying goes, the best way to forget an old love is to start a new one.
Su Yun smiled slyly, already thinking of a suitable candidate.
He patted Jin Zhou’s shoulder. “Wait here for a bit. I’m going to make a call.”
Jin Zhou nodded slightly.
Her stomach was churning violently, and she feared she’d vomit if she opened her mouth.
Su Yun squeezed through the crowd, finally giving Jin Zhou a moment to close her eyes and rest.
But before long, the sofa opposite her creaked again.
Too tired to open her eyes, Jin Zhou casually asked, “Back so soon?”
There was no reply.
Â
Not Su Yun… someone trying to pick me up?
Jin Zhou’s expression turned cold. She straightened up and began, “Excuse me, this seat is taken…”
Before she could finish, a familiar yet unfamiliar face swam into her blurry vision.
It was Jiang Yuhuai.
Jiang Yuhuai gazed at her silently, her eyes filled with restrained and complex emotions.
Jin Zhou wondered if the deafening noise had addled her senses. She shook her head and opened her eyes again, focusing on the person before her.
Jiang Yuhuai hadn’t changed much from six years ago.
Her long, silky black hair cascaded gently down her back, framing skin that was fair and luminous. Her expression was serious and composed.
She looked less like a regular at a bar and more like an office worker who had just finished overtime.
Jin Zhou’s gaze drifted to Jiang Yuhuai’s crimson earlobes.
Her signature peach-blossom eyes and the faint mole at the corner of her eye were Jin Zhou’s favorite features.
The natural upturn of her eyes, accentuated by a slight lift of her brows, exuded an irresistible charm.
The buttons of her white shirt were undone just enough to reveal a hint of her curves without appearing coquettish.
Paired with casual dress pants, the outfit added a touch of professional sharpness to her look.
Jin Zhou reaffirmed her conviction: Jiang Yuhuai was undeniably beautiful, even under the harsh glare of the club’s lighting.
I must be drunk, she thought. *How else could I be seeing a woman who vanished six years ago?
But if this was a hallucination, it felt too real. Jin Zhou could clearly discern every subtle expression on Jiang Yuhuai’s face, including the faint smile playing at the corners of her lips.
Â
She’s smiling?
As if answering Jin Zhou’s unspoken question, a soft laugh drifted across the room, vanishing almost instantly into the deafening music. Had Jin Zhou not been anticipating it, she might have missed it entirely.
Frowning slightly, Jin Zhou wanted to ask Jiang Yuhuai what she was laughing at. But remembering this was just a dream, she straightened her posture and shed all restraint.
Leaning forward, Jin Zhou pinned Jiang Yuhuai against the sofa.
After many years, she kissed those warm, moist lips again.
But there was no hint of tenderness or affection. Jin Zhou simply bit Jiang Yuhuai’s lower lip hard as punishment.
Only when she heard a muffled groan, her breath quickening, did Jin Zhou raise an eyebrow and release her.
As they parted, a faint, refreshing fragrance filled her nostrils.
It seemed to be Jiang Yuhuai’s perfume.
Jin Zhou couldn’t immediately identify the brand.
But this delicate floral-fruity scent was distinctly different from the heavy, cloying perfumes that permeated the bar.
It cleared her mind yet drew her in irresistibly.
Just like the first time she saw Jiang Yuhuai.
That day, Lin Xin had helped Jin Zhou make the most important decision of her life: to study law at C University.
While wandering aimlessly through the streets, she spotted Jiang Yuhuai ordering at a bubble tea shop.
The young woman’s hair was neatly tied back in a bun.
Her peach blossom eyes, still tinged with youthful innocence, held a smile as she politely asked each customer what they wanted.
Her movements were efficient, and the sweat on her forehead only accentuated the fairness of her skin.
Those who have experienced dark times might understand that when one is feeling down, everyone looks the same—just two eyes and a mouth.
But in that moment, Jin Zhou clearly perceived the difference between this person and others in her eyes.
She was beautiful.
“You’ve had too much to drink,” Jiang Yuhuai said, not minding the drunk’s bite. She simply reached out to touch Jin Zhou’s slightly flushed cheek.
Jin Zhou’s eyes were hazy. “So?”
Jiang Yuhuai fixed her with a steady gaze before leaning close to her ear and whispering, “Come home with me.”
The warmth of her breath against Jin Zhou’s neck sent a shiver through her body.
Her body didn’t lie; she didn’t resist Jiang Yuhuai’s closeness.
Jin Zhou lowered her head and chuckled self-deprecatingly.
“Okay.”
To bed?
Why not? It’s just a dream anyway.
That woman was hard to persuade; Su Yun had to spend a considerable amount of money to convince her.
This delay kept him out longer than expected. By the time he returned from his phone call, Jin Zhou was gone from the booth.
Su Yun initially assumed she had just gone to the restroom, but after more than ten minutes passed without her return, he grew concerned.
“Excuse me, have you seen the person who was in booth ten?”
“I’m sorry, I haven’t.”
“Excuse me, have you seen anyone at booth number ten?”
“I’m sorry, I haven’t.”
Panicked, she immediately called Jin Zhou, but only heard a busy signal.
Â
This is bad—
Did some sleazy guy pick her up?
Â
Call the police! Call them now!
Just then, a bartender in uniform tapped Su Yun on the shoulder.
“Excuse me, are you looking for the lady from booth number ten?”
Su Yun clung to this like a lifeline.
“Yes, yes, yes! I’m her friend. I’ve been looking for her everywhere. Have you seen her?”
The bartender nodded. “Don’t worry too much. About ten minutes ago, she left with another woman.”
Su Yun froze. “Another woman…”
The bartender gestured toward a corner booth.
Su Yun followed his gaze.
Isn’t that the elegant beauty I pointed out to Jin Zhou earlier?
Hesitantly, Su Yun asked, “Did she… leave on her own with her?”
The bartender winked suggestively. “We can’t discuss our guests’ privacy, but I assure you, that’s exactly what happened.”
Su Yun: ……
Your sisters carry you in their pockets, and you kick them into the ditch? Jin Zhou!
