My Ex's White Moonlight O Secretly Likes Me (GL) - Chapter 1
“Let’s break up,” Zhao Wan said, her eyes downcast, her voice low and soft.
The living room was dim, the main light deliberately turned off, leaving only a hazy, ambiguous peach-colored mood lamp.
The villa she shared with Qin Siyu was filled with the scent of an unfamiliar Omega’s pheromones.
Qin Siyu glanced at the woman in the blue silk evening gown before her and spoke indifferently:
“Weren’t you going to the awards ceremony? Why are you back at this hour?”
She held the innocent Omega girl, not even bothering to hide Zhao Wan’s presence, and intimately kissed the little Omega’s nose.
Zhao Wan pursed her lips, pretending to nonchalantly adjust her skirt. When she spoke again, her voice held a touch of firmness:
“I said, break up.”
Qin Siyu didn’t hesitate. “Okay.”
Her tone was utterly flat, like approving a routine proposal at a company board meeting.
Zhao Wan felt self-mocking, yet inexplicably relieved.
She was slow by nature, not good at handling such dramatic messes. If she truly got into a conflict with Qin Siyu, she’d probably be at a loss for words.
Her high heels had chafed her ankles, leaving them slightly swollen and painfully sore, much like her mood at the moment.
Zhao Wan bent down to untie the straps, her bare feet landing on the wool rug. With no lingering thoughts, she turned and left immediately.
She had just rushed back from the Golden Phoenix Awards ceremony, not even having time to change out of her dress, all just to come here to plan a surprise for Qin Siyu.
Because today was their anniversary.
Of course, after breaking up, the anniversary ceased to exist.
And given Zhao Wan’s self-awareness of being particularly vengeful, she would most likely cross out the “anniver” part, treating this day as Qin Siyu’s death anniversary.
Looking around at the familiar furnishings, Zhao Wan felt a dull ache in her heart.
She had just arrived and was already leaving, and—
Who knew what auspicious day today was, but the Golden Phoenix Award was snatched away by three-time Golden Horse Best Actress Ji Tanyue, who had just come down to “fish in troubled waters,” and her almost two-year relationship ended here as well.
Just as she was about to turn the doorknob and leave this uncomfortable place, Qin Siyu suddenly called out to her.
“Zhao Wan.”
She expected to hear an apology, but what reached Zhao Wan’s ears was a cold remark.
“You’re still nothing like her.”
Like? Like who?
Zhao Wan turned around blankly, suddenly meeting the female CEO’s scrutinizing gaze.
Those eyes were peering through her figure at someone else, filled with admiration and an unrequited longing, like a scorching fire.
But after a moment, Qin Siyu’s gaze shifted to the thin-heeled shoes Zhao Wan had just taken off on the rug. The flame quickly subsided, replaced by a chill.
“She would never lose her composure like that.”
Zhao Wan lowered her eyes, her long lashes casting small shadows on her face.
Today was not only dramatic, but also ridiculous.
After almost two years of dating, she never knew that in Qin Siyu’s eyes, she was merely a substitute for someone else.
No one spoke, and Qin Siyu wasn’t annoyed. She cupped the delicate chin of the girl in her arms, her thumb caressing it, like she was playing with a young bird.
Her actions were playful, yet carried a hint of ambiguous tenderness and pity.
The Omega girl’s eyes were unfocused, her arms around Qin Siyu’s neck, her breath warm, looking utterly submissive.
“Look,” Qin Siyu said, embracing the person in her arms, her voice soft.
“Doesn’t she resemble Ji Tanyue more than you?”
Her voice was gentle, yet it made one feel as if they had fallen into an ice cellar.
“…Ji Tanyue?” Zhao Wan’s voice was hoarse.
The person she had just seen at the awards ceremony.
And the person who had, like child’s play, taken the Golden Phoenix Best Actress award from her.
Spotlights flickered chaotically, a long red velvet carpet covered the entire banquet hall, where clothes rustled, shadows danced, and laughter rippled.
Zhao Wan had just taken her seat and was bending down to adjust her skirt when a shadow suddenly fell over her.
“Excuse me, passing through.”
A slightly bitter scent brushed past her nose. When she stood up to make way, Zhao Wan unconsciously looked up for a moment longer.
The newcomer wore a red mermaid gown, her tea-colored curly hair cascaded down, her long lashes were lowered, and her fair knuckles lifted her skirt, her movements elegant and pleasing to the eye.
Their gazes met, and those phoenix eyes were especially beautiful, catching the swaying lights in the venue, stunningly captivating.
Zhao Wan had a bit of face blindness and hadn’t been immersed in the industry for long, so she couldn’t quite distinguish the appearances of those nominal “colleagues.”
But beauty could mislead, and she was amazed the moment she saw the woman.
Spotlights flashed, and the cameraman continued to work, framing the woman who was about to take her seat in the viewfinder.
“Zhao Wan?”
Unexpectedly, the woman stopped, nodded slightly to her, and extended a hand.
Her nails were rounded, her knuckles long and delicate, very well-maintained, making one imagine the touch of holding her hand.
Zhao Wan politely nodded in acknowledgment, “Pleasure to meet you.”
The person in front of her was too stunning; she didn’t dare to look too long, her gaze quickly sweeping past the woman’s beautiful face before shaking her hand.
A cold touch, like cold jade, enveloped her palm.
Zhao Wan lowered her head, and coincidentally saw a string of sandalwood prayer beads dangling from the woman’s pale wrist.
It seemed out of place in the lavish setting of the awards ceremony, and didn’t even match her red mermaid gown, yet it mysteriously suited the restrained aura surrounding her.
The woman looked down at Zhao Wan, her voice distant yet soft: “Pleasure to meet you.”
The two politely shook hands and quickly passed each other.
Sitting back in her seat, Zhao Wan unconsciously bent her fingers.
The touch was as cold as ice, actually not very pleasant.
Why did she only shake her hand?
Unable to figure it out, she simply ignored this harmless little interlude.
Zhao Wan sat down and quietly waited in her seat.
Half an hour later, the Golden Phoenix TV Festival began as in previous years.
By the time the Best Actress award was to be announced, the ceremony was already halfway through. The big screen framed the faces of several nominated actresses.
Two budding young stars were so nervous their lips had turned white, while the two on either side were calm, as if the final result had nothing to do with them.
One was Zhao Wan herself, the other was—
Zhao Wan turned her head and found the woman also looking her way, a smile even playing on her lips.
The other person was truly friendly; Zhao Wan nodded slightly to her, unconsciously curving her lips.
The big screen silently recorded this scene.
“The winner of Best Actress at this year’s Golden Phoenix TV Festival is—”
The suspense was drawn out to the very end. On stage, the respected veteran began to announce the recipient of this year’s Golden Phoenix Best Actress award.
Zhao Wan quietly clenched her fingertips, her heart pounding.
“Love’s Knot, Ji Tanyue.”
The woman was not surprised. She gracefully rose, holding her dress, and while accepting the congratulations of those around her, she walked unhurriedly towards Zhao Wan’s direction.
But Zhao Wan forgot to applaud, and forgot to congratulate.
She wasn’t envious; Ji Tanyue was far, far better than her. A three-time Golden Horse Best Actress, she deserved the award.
But why did she have to contend for this particular trophy with her?
Zhao Wan felt a little wronged, her heart heavy with indescribable disappointment.
She had still wanted to take it home to show off to Qin Siyu.
On stage, the woman held the trophy, her acceptance speech gentle and humble, her smile flawless.
Under the spotlight, she was as beautiful as the sun and moon.
It was a height Zhao Wan couldn’t reach even on tiptoe.
The woman walked gracefully, holding the crystal trophy back to her seat, slowly passing by a crowd of nominees, smiling politely, until her gaze lingered on Zhao Wan’s face, gradually becoming profound.
A fragrant breeze brushed past her nose. Zhao Wan stared blankly at the woman’s back, a sudden unpleasant feeling in her heart.
No wonder she only shook her hand before the ceremony began. Was she hinting that she was determined to win Best Actress tonight?
What a scheming, bad woman.
…
“You must have just seen her,” Qin Siyu’s voice was devoid of emotion.
The shadow hid the fleeting mockery on Zhao Wan’s face. She pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
Yes, not only had she seen her, Ji Tanyue had also snatched the Golden Phoenix Best Actress award from her hands, an award she was determined to win.
It was effortless for her. It was less like participating in a competition and more like making a cameo appearance.
After all, once the highly prestigious name Ji Tanyue was announced, where was Zhao Wan’s place?
The ridiculous thing was, she had still been thinking of bringing the Golden Phoenix trophy back to surprise her lover.
Her eyes uncontrollably reddened. Zhao Wan lowered her head, her hair obscuring her vision, and lightly dabbed the corners of her eyes.
Not wanting to stay there for another second, she walked around the high heels lying askew on the carpet, bare-footed, turned, and left, closing the door behind her.
Ji Tanyue would never lose her composure like she did?
But she was never Ji Tanyue.
Fu Xi picked Zhao Wan up in her car close to midnight.
Outside the villa area, a slender woman in a cool-toned silk dress stood alone by a street lamp, her dark hair like silk, her eyes lowered.
Fu Xi sighed faintly, honked the horn, and drove closer.
The car’s headlights gradually swallowed the darkness. When it stopped, the light perfectly hit the hem of the woman’s dress.
Zhao Wan looked up at the sound, her eyes curving slightly as she met Fu Xi’s gaze through the front windshield.
“You’re here?”
Late at night, a breeze swept by, gently lifting her light skirt.
Revealing her bare feet, red and chafed from pebbles and grit.
“…” Fu Xi took a deep breath.
My goodness, why did you run out barefoot?
Her pleasant evening had been interrupted by a baffling phone call from her friend, and she was already in a bad mood. But after an exasperated glance at the person in front of the car window, she fell silent for a rare moment.
After a while, she spoke: “Get in the car.”
Under the car lights, Zhao Wan’s eyes were very red, her face streaked with tears, looking utterly dishevelled.
Three in the morning.
Zhao Wan’s cheeks were flushed. She wobbled out of the private bar, wearing disposable slippers Fu Xi had dug up from somewhere.
“Fu, remember, it was, it was I who dumped Qin Siyu…”
Fu Xi had also drunk a lot, but her mind was still relatively clear. Supporting Zhao Wan, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Did you throw your shoes at Qin Siyu’s face?”
Otherwise, why would she run out barefoot?
“…” Zhao Wan looked bewildered.
She had been too furious earlier; she hadn’t even thought of doing that.
“Alright, if you dumped her, you dumped her. The next one will be even more obedient,” Fu Xi consoled.
Thinking of something, she looked around and sighed in distress: “How will you get back? Give me your agent’s or assistant’s phone number.”
“No,” Zhao Wan mumbled into her shoulder, her voice muffled, the smell of alcohol wafting from her.
“The phones… they’re all unreachable.”
She knew why. Those assistants and agents who usually obeyed her every whim and greeted her with smiles were all Qin Siyu’s people.
But now that her owner had released her from the cage, it wasn’t charity, so why would they continue to bestow favors?
“Alright, you still have me,” Fu Xi coaxed. “I’ll call you a car. Go home and get a good night’s sleep first.”
Zhao Wan hummed softly.
Fu Xi sighed lightly and said no more, focusing on her phone.
But it was already too late, and the private bar’s location was too remote. Fifteen minutes passed, and she couldn’t even hail a single taxi.
The cold night wind raged. Zhao Wan yawned, feeling somewhat drowsy, mumbling some drunken words.
Fu Xi was exhausted, thinking she might as well drag Zhao Wan into the bar and make do for the night.
Just then, car lights shone from the alleyway.
A silver-grey Land Rover slowly pulled up to the bar entrance. Soon, the car window rolled down, and in the back seat, a woman’s beautiful face was hidden in the deep night.
“Miss Fu,” she said, her red lips parting slightly.
“You can entrust Zhao Wan to me.”
