My Female General Is A Villain (GL) - Chapter 14
The news of the attack on the General’s residence was a hot topic in court, spreading chaos and fear. Opinions were divided, and the rumors were flying.
Some said the Emperor was wary of He Su and had already begun to apply pressure and issue a warning, putting He Su’s position in jeopardy.
Others claimed He Su was making a statement, warning the Emperor that if their relationship soured, he would rally his forces and rebel.
And there were even some who suggested it was an attempt by foreign spies to assassinate He Su, intending to wipe them out in one fell swoop.
…
It was ridiculous.
But He Jiaojiao suspected someone was trying to fan the flames—a fire meant to sow suspicion between He Su and the Emperor, making their distrust a reality.
He Su would never think this way, but the Emperor? That was a different story.
He Jiaojiao: “Nineteen, Nineteen, come out.”
System 19: “What is it, Master?”
He Jiaojiao: “I almost forgot to ask you. In the original text, there was no attack on the General’s residence, and the character Miaomiao didn’t exist at all. What’s going on?”
Nineteen: “Could it be that you changed the story’s trajectory, which triggered new events and characters?”
He Jiaojiao: “You mean I can change the plot’s direction and development?”
Nineteen: “I’m not sure, Master. I’m only guessing.”
He Jiaojiao: “But you’re a system. How could you not know?”
Nineteen: “I am merely a string of code given the task of helping you complete your mission. I’m completely in the dark about the plot’s direction and final ending. However, if there’s anything you need help with, I’ll do my best to provide it. Keep up the good work, Master.”
He Jiaojiao: “Please send me back to my own world.”
Nineteen: “Sorry, I can’t fulfill that request.”
He Jiaojiao: “Please make Pei Ji’s favorability towards me max out.”
Nineteen: “Sorry, I can’t fulfill that request.”
He Jiaojiao: “Tell me who wants to kill me.”
Nineteen: “Sorry, I can’t fulfill that request.”
He Jiaojiao: “Then go away and leave me alone.”
System 19: “Understood, Master. Fulfilling your request immediately.”Â

The incident, though not a major catastrophe, was serious enough. He Su had asked her to make a trip to the palace. He said that after hearing about the attack, Consort De was worried sick about her. First, she almost drowned, and then she was chased by assassins. The consort, fearing for her delicate health, insisted on seeing her.
This Consort De was her mother’s older sister and was deeply favored by the Emperor.
He Jiaojiao sat in front of her vanity mirror, looking at her reflection. Her hair was like a waterfall, her eyebrows like crescent moons. A touch of rouge, and her eyes shimmered. Her hairpins swayed precariously, a true beauty with a dusting of powder.
“Miss looks so beautiful,” Qingyao said as she styled her hair.
But He Jiaojiao’s mind was a million miles away.
Qingyao said that the people in the palace were all of high status, so her attire shouldn’t be as plain as usual. It needed to be more vibrant.
He Jiaojiao didn’t really care. She was just going to visit and get it over with. Anything was fine to wear.
She just didn’t like anything too gaudy. It always made her feel uncomfortable.
When she first arrived in the world of Ephemeral Spring, she realized the original owner’s clothes were all incredibly elaborate and complicated. They were heavy and inconvenient, and the colors and styles weren’t to her taste. They looked as if they were inlaid with gold and diamonds.
The hairstyle Qingyao had created today was clean and simple, which made her look a bit more youthful. Jiaojiao was very pleased with her reflection, so she got up and opened the door.
Pei Ji was standing outside. Her solitary figure was enveloped in the glittering snow. She was looking up, seemingly at the distant, misty mountain range, like a lone eagle detached from the mortal world. Since Pei Ji had started wearing new clothes, her entire demeanor had become much more striking. She hadn’t even noticed it before.
He Jiaojiao stared for a long time. Pei Ji was the first to break the silence. She turned and said, “General He asked me to go with you.”
Jiaojiao snapped back to reality, pretending everything was normal. “Oh, then let’s go.” Then she thought about it again. Something wasn’t right.
Consort De knew that she and Pei Ji didn’t get along. She also knew that the original He Jiaojiao’s true affection was for Yuwen Jingshen, so she shouldn’t have wanted them to travel together.
She didn’t know why He Su would want Pei Ji to go with her, but it must have a purpose.
With that, she lifted her skirt and took a step forward. Her foot caught on something, and she nearly fell to her knees. Luckily, Qingyao was there to catch her, or she would have made a complete fool of herself.
She gave a small, awkward laugh. “I’m fine.”
Qingyao let out a sigh of relief. “Please be careful, Miss. The snow is heavy, and it’s slippery.”
Jiaojiao nodded. She glanced at Pei Ji. Her expression was still cold. It was as if she wouldn’t have cared if Jiaojiao had fallen flat on her face, wouldn’t have even furrowed her brow. She might have even mocked her with a sneer.
She would be in the palace for at least a few days, so the servants in the mansion were running around like crazy. The Old Madam, who especially doted on her, was worried she wouldn’t get used to the food or her bed. She wanted every single bag and pouch loaded onto the carriage, as if she wanted the entire He estate to go with her.
He Jiaojiao had never seen anything like this before. She was so shocked she didn’t know how to stop them.
The Old Madam was bustling about, telling them to be careful and gentle, worried that something would get scratched. The entire front gate of the He mansion was packed with people, all there to see her off.
Jiaojiao’s jaw dropped. It was a rare sight, and she was lucky enough to witness it.
“Stop,” she said, her voice lacking any authority. She cleared her throat, raised both hands, and shouted again, “Stop, stop, stop!”
Everyone froze, looking at her in confusion.
