My Female Python Roommate Always Wants To Eat Me. - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Bai Fuxue used both hands to push away Lu Qimin, who was trying to lean in and touch her again. She tensed her little face and said, “Go on, go to training, don’t keep playing with me.”
She gently caressed her cheek, which was red from being pinched by Lu Qimin. Feeling cornered, her hometown dialect slipped out.
Beneath her cute and innocent appearance, she showed a rare hint of ferocity that was uncharacteristic of her.
Lu Qimin was stunned for a moment, having understood what she was saying. Her expression changed several times before she leaned in even more casually and clingily, a deep smile on her face: “So, A-Xue is from Sichuan. We from Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan are one big family.”
After she finished speaking, she gently blew on Bai Fuxue’s red cheek from a short distance: “Hoo hoo, no more pain.”
Bai Fuxue’s expression froze. Before she could stop her, Lu Qimin’s moist breath gently brushed against her face. It happened once, twice, accompanied by the woman’s soothing voice as she opened and closed her red lips. Many times, she felt as if Lu Qimin was about to kiss her.
She wanted to flinch and move back, but just as she was about to, Lu Qimin seemed to distance herself again, maintaining a polite gap, as if she was only trying to make up for her mistake and had no intention of being disrespectful.
Bai Fuxue’s entire body was tense, not knowing what to do.
She was the one being comforted, but she was also the one suffering.
This couldn’t go on.
She pretended to be calm for a moment, but finally, she grabbed Lu Qimin’s arm, stopping her from moving forward. Her soft voice begged, “I’m okay. You don’t have to blow on it anymore.”
Lu Qimin knew that the little rabbit had reached her limit and was trying to find a way to avoid her.
She understood completely, but she couldn’t resist teasing the little rabbit further.
She said with a serious face, “Don’t pretend to be tough. If it hurts, you should let me blow on it more.”
“I’m not pretending…” Bai Fuxue’s voice was thin. A look of helplessness flashed across her pale, beautiful face. She was so anxious she was about to cry.
After a quick thought, she awkwardly changed the subject. Her clumsy acting was fully on display: “I thought you were a mixed-race person because of your looks. I didn’t expect you to be from Yunnan.”
Lu Qimin indulged her poor acting and let the little rabbit off the hook. She leaned her upper body back and supported her head with both arms, adopting a casual posture. She widened the distance between herself and Bai Fuxue, giving her a sense of absolute security. She said playfully, “I never said I wasn’t mixed-race.”
Bai Fuxue looked up and let out an innocent “ah.”
She listened as Lu Qimin explained slowly: “My mom is from Yunnan, and my dad is from Colombia. I’m a mix of Chinese and Colombian.”
Bai Fuxue was surprised that two people from such distant countries had met and fallen in love. She asked out of curiosity.
“They met on a scientific expedition team. If you want to know the specific details, you can ask my parents in person when the time comes.” Lu Qimin started the story, piqued Bai Fuxue’s curiosity, and then abruptly stopped.
Bai Fuxue: “…”
Her emotions were left hanging in the air, neither rising nor falling. She was itching with curiosity, but she also felt that Lu Qimin was telling a tall tale. “How can I ask your parents in person? I… won’t be able to see them.”
“You never know,” Lu Qimin glanced at her, her voice rising, “If you come home with me for the National Day holiday, you’ll get to see them.”
She didn’t know if it was because of her deeper facial features, but her eyes looked profound and cunning when she made that sweeping glance.
Bai Fuxue’s heart felt a sudden chill from that one look.
She didn’t dare to be interested in her suggestion and quickly declined: “I’m going home for the National Day holiday myself.”
“That’s a shame,” Lu Qimin said with a slightly lowered voice and a look of regret.
This regret only lasted for less than a minute before Lu Qimin started to arrange a way to make up for it herself: “Let’s wait for the winter or summer break. The holidays are longer. You can come to Yunnan to visit. Or if you want to go to Colombia, I can take you there too.”
Bai Fuxue didn’t dare to agree to her so easily and just said vaguely, “We’ll see.”
If at that time, her relationship with Lu Qimin had progressed to a very good one, she could still visit Lu Qimin’s hometown and see the place where she grew up.
Seeing her indifferent reaction, Lu Qimin didn’t continue the topic.
After being on the move all morning and playing a game of wits with both her special period and Lu Qimin, Bai Fuxue was already exhausted.
She opened her mouth and yawned. She slowly climbed into her bed, feeling incredibly tired. She barely managed to hold onto her crumbling sanity and said to Lu Qimin, “I’m going to lie down and rest for a bit. You don’t have to worry about me. Go to training. It’s not good to be absent for too long.”
After she finished speaking, she lay down under her blanket and closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep.
She didn’t hear a reply from Lu Qimin, but soon after, she heard the sound of the door opening and closing. Lu Qimin had probably listened to her and left.
She felt groggy and fell into a deep sleep.
The dorm wasn’t very soundproof. The noise would occasionally leak in through the windows and doors, so Bai Fuxue didn’t sleep very soundly.
Half-asleep, she seemed to hear someone come in. The person’s movements were very light, as if they knew she was resting and were carefully trying not to disturb her.
Bai Fuxue wanted to get up to see who it was, but the sleepiness was too overwhelming. She couldn’t resist and didn’t have the strength to sit up.
When she was fully awake, it was past eleven.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes and vaguely smelled something fresh and savory slowly seeping into her nostrils.
The scent was coming from very close by.
She sniffled and easily saw a container of steamed buns and a packed bowl of vegetable and lean meat congee on her desk. It was in an insulated bag.
She reached out and touched it. The temperature of the containers was still warm. Thanks to the insulated bag, they hadn’t gotten completely cold.
The sound she heard in her sleep wasn’t an illusion. Someone had indeed returned to the dorm to bring her food.
She already knew who the person was.
A warmth welled up in Bai Fuxue’s chest. She opened the insulated bag, took out the congee and steamed buns, and placed them on the desk.
As she did so, she suddenly noticed a note pressed under the food container, written in Lu Qimin’s handwriting.
The handwriting was beautiful. It was just like Lu Qimin herself, with a sharp, sword-like quality that sliced through the air.
The words were written in perfect regular script, with flowing, powerful strokes.
She could clearly imagine Lu Qimin’s expression and the elegant, fluid motion of her hand as she wrote those words.
Bai Fuxue really liked Lu Qimin’s handwriting. She stared at the words for a while, feeling a bit of a shame that they were written on a colorful sticky note.
If they were on white paper with black ink, the quality would have been even more magnificent.
Bai Fuxue thought regretfully.
She folded the sticky note and put it in her drawer.
She liked collecting small, pretty objects and beautiful handwriting. She had a pile of them at home.
The ones in her dorm were just a drop in the ocean. Lu Qimin’s note was the first one she had collected since coming to school.
She happily began to eat. The vegetable and lean meat congee was cooked until it was soft and mushy, melting in her mouth. The steamed buns had a thin skin and a generous, juicy filling. They were all freshly made and steamed that morning, and they were delicious.
Bai Fuxue was completely satisfied with her meal. She leisurely opened her phone, planning to reply to the messages from her friends that she had missed while she ate.
