My Female Python Roommate Always Wants To Eat Me. - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Walking out of the hotpot restaurant, Bai Fuxue uncomfortably moved away from the radius of Lu Qimin’s embrace.
Just as her breathing became a little easier, a strong gust of wind suddenly rushed past her ear, accompanied by the sharp roar of a motorcycle. She was pulled into a fragrant embrace.
Her waist and the back of her neck were also carefully protected.
She caught a scent that was a mix of mottled grass leaves and fresh sprouts—pure and tranquil. The middle notes were slightly sour, while the base was a fresh and lively lemon soda, blending into a delicate, light fragrance. It was like taking a nap in the grass on an early summer day and picking up a few seeds.
She was completely enveloped in Lu Qimin’s scent.
A cool hand rested against her exposed skin without any obstruction, the coldness seeping into her flesh.
On a hot summer day, it felt like standing in front of an air conditioner vent, making you want to linger in the comfort.
Only when Lu Qimin rotated her, placing her on the inner side of the sidewalk, and her hand retreated, did she realize what had happened.
“Walk on the inside.”
Her face flushed instantly. She fanned her face with her hand, trying to hide her embarrassment and cool down her cheeks.
She mumbled her thanks, “Thank you just now.”
Her voice was soft and her words slightly slurred, making what she said sound as if it had been soaked in sweet spring water, carrying a natural sweetness.
It made a person’s ears feel ticklish.
After the shocking moment, Bai Fuxue’s initial fear of Lu Qimin dissipated a little, and she felt a bit more at ease around her.
She obediently walked on the inside, with her shoulder only about ten centimeters away from Lu Qimin’s.
Sensing Bai Fuxue’s change, the corners of Lu Qimin’s lips turned up ever so slightly.
But she also wanted to close that ten-centimeter gap between their shoulders.
She looked at the naive and unguarded little rabbit in front of her. Her eyes were filled with gratitude and dependence, and Lu Qimin’s voice deepened as she coaxed, “There are too many people. I’ll hold your hand to avoid what just happened again.”
Her tone was serious, as if she was genuinely concerned for Bai Fuxue’s well-being.
She lowered her arm, and her fingers tentatively slid toward Bai Fuxue’s wrist, then her fingers.
Finally, she completely held Bai Fuxue’s soft little hand in her palm.
Bai Fuxue looked up at the dense crowd around them. It was true that they could easily get separated in the midst of it all.
There were seven or eight universities in the area, forming a “university city.” With the new semester starting, the foot traffic was immense.
Lu Qimin’s suggestion was reasonable.
Bai Fuxue’s fingers trembled slightly, but she didn’t struggle.
Back in her hometown, she would often hold hands with her good friends while shopping or taking a walk.
The moment she actually held her hand, Lu Qimin couldn’t help but sigh at the sensation.
Skin like creamy fat and boneless softness—it was nothing short of this.
If she were to hold on any tighter, she felt she could crush the bones in her fingers.
Even a slight brush would probably leave bruises.
Fortunately, the surrounding noise covered her sigh, so Bai Fuxue didn’t notice anything.
Lu Qimin was in a great mood the entire way. She took Bai Fuxue to a supermarket and a home goods store.
Bai Fuxue bought everything on her list but couldn’t stop herself from adding a bunch of other daily necessities, with bags hanging all over her body.
Lu Qimin accompanied her, and when she saw cute things Bai Fuxue bought, she followed suit and bought the same items.
Water cups, towels, clothes hangers… it would look so nice when they were all put together.
Lu Qimin secretly added the same items to her shopping cart, harboring her little secret.
Before she knew it, they had wandered to the accessories section.
Her gaze was drawn to a plush hat on a mannequin’s head.
It was a base of white fleece with a white fleece trim around the edges and two long, pink and white rabbit ears dangling from the top.
Lu Qimin quickly walked over and pinched the plush rabbit ears.
They felt incredibly soft. Each tuft of fluff eagerly pressed into her palm, a soft and gentle squeeze.
There was a wire inside, allowing the ears to be bent into any shape.
The hat was both lively and cute.
She wasn’t the only one attracted to it; several people nearby also cast longing glances at it.
The moment Lu Qimin saw it, she thought of Bai Fuxue.
She had similarly long ears, soft as feathers, and just standing there, she made people stop and linger.
If it were Bai Fuxue’s true form… she would be even cuter.
Imagining Bai Fuxue’s appearance, Lu Qimin’s thumb and fingers twitched, grabbing the plush fur tightly.
Not far away, she saw the girl bent over, patiently comparing prices on a shelf. Her delicate, small nose was straight, and her eyes were clear and serious. Lu Qimin’s heart instantly softened, as if she had been struck by a soft arrow.
She endured the brief irregularity in her heartbeat and waved to the girl, “A-Xue, I saw a hat that suits you very well.”
“Oh, let me see.”
Bai Fuxue followed the sound and, after seeing the hat’s design, she froze.
Her face turned pale in an instant.
She couldn’t figure out Lu Qimin’s intention.
This rabbit ear hat was almost a direct replica of a long-eared rabbit…
A thin layer of sweat broke out on her back, and her eyelashes, as long and delicate as a butterfly’s wings, began to tremble.
She took a deep breath, pretending to be calm.
She calmly remarked, “It’s so cute.”
Bai Fuxue was really bad at lying. Her voice was steady, but all the small expressions on her face clearly revealed how nervous she was.
Lu Qimin laughed internally, but her face showed no emotion. She maliciously and skillfully teased the flustered little rabbit in front of her.
“Do you really think it’s cute?”
Bai Fuxue went along with her words: “Yes, it’s… it’s cute.”
“Then A-Xue, try it on. I want to see you in it.” Lu Qimin took the hat off and handed it to her.
Bai Fuxue stepped back half a step, as if she had seen a monster, afraid to take it.
Looking at the hat, she felt as though her non-human identity would be revealed in public, and she was scared to death.
Her mind raced. She looked at the time and found a suitable reason to decline: “We should hurry and finish shopping so we can go back. There’s a class meeting at 8 p.m. tonight, so let’s not waste time.”
She said this and began to walk away.
Lu Qimin was one step ahead of her. She placed the hat on Bai Fuxue’s head, pushed her in front of a mirror, and gently coaxed, “It will only take a moment to try it on.”
“It’s just as cute as I imagined.”
“I wish you really had ears this long.”
“Bunny girls are really popular in games and anime.”
“…”
Lu Qimin stood behind her, saying a bunch of things that made Bai Fuxue’s heart pound.
She finally mustered the courage to look up and see her reflection.
But when Lu Qimin pinched the wires inside the plush rabbit ears and bent them into various shapes, her courage completely vanished.
This is too much—
She bit her lip, her heart a pile of ashes, and she imagined herself as a lifeless ball of cotton, too weak to struggle anymore.
Lu Qimin kept playing with it, and only after a long time did she reluctantly take her hand back. She took the rabbit-ear hat to the checkout and bought it as a gift for Bai Fuxue.
On the way back, Bai Fuxue’s demeanor was completely different from when she had arrived.
She clutched the shopping bag containing the hat, her steps heavy… her expression was as if she were walking to her own execution.
