My Female Python Roommate Always Wants To Eat Me. - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
After showering before lights out and neatly folding the camouflage uniform for the next day, Bai Fuxue climbed onto her bed using the ladder.
She pulled back the covers, ready to lie down.
Her movements suddenly stopped when she looked at the pillow on the opposite bed, which belonged to Lu Qimin.
Lu Qimin’s bed was directly across from hers, and she was already asleep, her head resting on the side connected to Bai Fuxue’s bed.
Bai Fuxue’s own pillow was placed on the other side of the bed.
If she were to lie down, her feet would be facing Lu Qimin’s head.
It felt… quite rude.
Bai Fuxue thought for a moment, then took her pillow and changed directions, sleeping head-to-head with Lu Qimin.
Not long after she lay down, the dorm lights went out, and the room was plunged into darkness, with only faint light filtering in from the streetlights outside the balcony.
Thinking about the military training tomorrow, everyone went to bed early and didn’t stay up late, getting ready for the tough training ahead.
The next morning, alarm clocks went off one after another, creating a lively and chaotic symphony.
Bai Fuxue woke up from her sleep at the first sound of her alarm. She quickly sat up, grabbed the camouflage uniform folded at the foot of her bed, and went to the bathroom to change.
The size she got was the smallest, but perhaps because the camouflage uniform itself was designed to be too baggy, it was still very big on her.
The cuffs and pant legs were loose and baggy, and a slight lift of her arm would expose some of her pale skin.
She had to fasten the belt around her waist and cinch it tightly to keep her pants from slipping down.
After changing, she took the towel and toiletries she had bought with Lu Qimin and brushed her teeth and washed her face by the sink.
During this time, An Xin and Song Jiajia also got up one after another to get ready. Only Lu Qimin remained still, sleeping soundly and peacefully, as if she had completely forgotten about the military training.
Even after Bai Fuxue was done getting ready and went back to her bed, she could still see Lu Qimin hidden under the covers. The half of her face that was exposed was flushed from sleep. Her eyes were gently lowered as she slept, and the beautiful, intricate patterns of her double pupils were hidden beneath her eyelids, making her look unusually graceful.
No matter how noisy it was outside, Lu Qimin slept as still as a mountain.
Time ticked by. Living in the same dorm, Bai Fuxue couldn’t just watch Lu Qimin be late for the first day of military training.
She walked up to Lu Qimin and leaned close to her ear, calling her name many times.
Lu Qimin didn’t wake up. She even turned over, with her back facing Bai Fuxue to avoid the noise.
Bai Fuxue: “…”
Bai Fuxue’s face fell for two seconds, and then she simply reached out and pushed Lu Qimin through the blanket. “Lu Qimin, wake up!”
She pushed and raised her voice. After repeating this seven or eight times, Lu Qimin finally stirred.
As if she was angered, she swiftly turned over and grabbed Bai Fuxue’s wrist, locking it in place and making her unable to move. Her eyes narrowed in displeasure, and a suffocating aura enveloped her entire body. “Be quiet.”
Bai Fuxue was unprepared, and half of her body was pulled over.
The strength holding her was immense. Bai Fuxue felt like a small, weak key, tightly locked in a heavy lock’s core, with no ability to escape.
She tried to struggle, but only got trapped more securely.
The skin on her wrist quickly turned red from the tension between them.
Bai Fuxue was very sensitive to pain. Her eyes felt sore, and tears were about to fall in an instant.
She quickly held them back, but a faint, uncontrollable sob still crept into her voice.
“It hurts…”
“Lu Qimin, you’re hurting me.”
She instinctively gasped, her tone lowered, not expecting Lu Qimin to hear her.
She’s such a deep sleeper and has such a bad temper when she wakes up.
Bai Fuxue thought sullenly, feeling very wronged. She decided she would never, ever wake Lu Qimin up again.
As soon as she had that thought, the deeply sleeping figure suddenly stirred.
Lu Qimin seemed to have been startled awake from a nightmare. She sat up with a powerful jolt, disturbed by the constant but faint crying.
She wanted to find the culprit, but all the aggression in her eyes vanished when she met a pair of moist, clear, glass-like eyes.
Her soft, white little rabbit, whose delicate and adorable cheeks were now paired with red-rimmed eyes.
Seeing her like this, Lu Qimin’s heart ached.
“Who bullied you?”
She asked urgently, looking very nervous, as if she was ready to seek justice for her.
The attitude she was showing now was completely different from a moment ago.
Bai Fuxue was stunned, feeling as if she was getting to know Lu Qimin all over again.
She blinked and shifted her gaze to her locked wrist, gently expressing her grievances.
“I was worried you would be late, so I came to wake you up. I couldn’t wake you up, and, and you bullied me.” As she spoke, she carefully observed Lu Qimin’s expression.
The image of Lu Qimin’s temper tantrum had already been seared into her mind.
Lu Qimin followed her gaze and saw that she herself was the culprit. She couldn’t help but sigh in annoyance.
She had forgotten that she was in a dorm and thought it was a vacation, and that this person was deliberately waking her up.
She let go instantly and instead, held Bai Fuxue’s hand carefully, stroking the reddened skin she had caused, trying to rub away the injury.
She apologized profusely, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you—”
Her fingertips gave off a cool, jade-like sensation with a delicate texture. When they landed on her wrist, it felt like being gently kissed by a feather. Bai Fuxue was actually quite comfortable with her touch.
Her mind wandered, and she continued the conversation.
“Do you get angry when you wake up?”
Lu Qimin admitted it.
“So your temper is indiscriminate, right? You wouldn’t get angry if you knew it was me?” Bai Fuxue was half-skeptical.
“No, I won’t get angry at A-Xue.” Lu Qimin suddenly turned to face Bai Fuxue, speaking very seriously.
Her gaze was too serious. At the bottom of her eyes, it seemed like the fiercest ball of lightning was brewing, and it was about to sweep over her without reason. Bai Fuxue felt her heart flutter under the intense stare. She couldn’t handle such a fierce gaze, and even Lu Qimin’s fingertips roaming on her wrist felt like they were carrying an electric current. She hastily pulled her hand away and said stiffly, “I don’t believe you.”
“Try it again. Wake me up tomorrow.”
Lu Qimin tried to persuade her.
Bai Fuxue didn’t agree, only saying, “You should hurry and get ready.”
Lu Qimin didn’t press the issue. She obediently got out of bed and, as she passed Bai Fuxue, she leaned in and whispered, “Wait for me.”
“Then hurry up.”
“I will.”
Lu Qimin turned and waved at her, just like a hero in an anime movie who appears at the end to save the world, always carefree, casual, and easily leaving an indelible image in others’ memories.
Actually, Lu Qimin wasn’t in her class, so she could have refused to wait. But for some reason, when Lu Qimin said “wait for me,” she felt as if she had been put under a spell, and she obediently waited for her.
After bidding farewell to her other roommates, and after Lu Qimin was ready to go, Lu Qimin called her back just as they were about to leave.
Bai Fuxue was pulled in front of her, confused.
“What’s wrong?”
Lu Qimin walked around her, checking her out, and even leaned in to sniff her neck, confirming something.
The moment Lu Qimin’s breath hit her, Bai Fuxue felt extremely unnatural and tried her best to resist the urge to run away.
“Did you forget to put on sunscreen?”
Bai Fuxue: “…I forgot.” So that’s why Lu Qimin pulled her back.
“Sit down, I’ll help you put it on. Don’t forget next time,” Lu Qimin pressed her back onto the chair, twisted open the sunscreen, and started rambling, “The sun in Shanhai is harsh. If you don’t protect yourself, you’ll get a sunburn, chapped skin, and cracks…”
Lu Qimin meticulously applied sunscreen to all of Bai Fuxue’s exposed skin. After checking it a few times, she finally let her go.
“All done.”
Bai Fuxue was finally given permission to leave.
After the sunscreen was applied, Bai Fuxue’s face was flushed. Her eyes seemed to be sparkling with stars as she said in a soft, sweet voice, “Lu Qimin, you’re so nice.”
Lu Qimin’s lips curved into a faint smile. She led her out, her voice happy and lazy: “I don’t accept ‘nice guy’ cards.”
What she wanted was far more than just being a “nice person” in Bai Fuxue’s eyes.
