- My Fiancé Was Taken By My Younger Sister, But I Plan To Get My Revenge Through My Performance at The Social Party
- Episode 10 - An Opportunity for Growth
The party hosted by the Hardwood family was receiving more praise than expected.
In the vast hall, the golden decorative buttons of military uniforms and the jewels on the ladies’ dresses were shining brightly. The participants were enjoying pleasant conversations with smiles, satisfied with the splendid decorations, the delicious food expertly prepared by the chef, and the soothing music of the string quartet. In particular, the illumination of the garden visible from the terrace was garnering much admiration.
However, Victoria, who had overseen the preparations for the party, had a dark expression, as if troubled by something. She was lost in thought in a secluded corner of the terrace near the rose garden, where she was less likely to be seen.
As Edward approached, she murmured in a small voice. There was no trace of her usual confident tone in her voice.
“There were many mistakes in this preparation. I should have considered the preferences of the military personnel a bit more. The decorations were too extravagant, and I think they deviated slightly from the simple and sturdy atmosphere favored by the military aristocracy. I lacked knowledge. I was overconfident. There are many points for reflection.”
Victoria regretted her shortcomings and spoke words of reflection. In her eyes, there was a unique intensity characteristic of those who strive for perfection.
Edward couldn’t hide his surprise at those words. His expression, illuminated by the moonlight, showed genuine emotion.
“What are you talking about? This party was a huge success, wasn’t it? Look around, everyone is smiling. This is the first time we’ve hosted a party where people were so satisfied. Your contribution was truly significant. Amazing. Especially the selection of classical music was wonderful. That was perfect for soldiers like us.”
Edward expressed his heartfelt gratitude and praised Victoria. His words carried a sincerity that was utterly genuine.
At those words, Victoria also showed a slight smile. Her profile, illuminated by the moonlight, displayed a fleeting expression of relief. However, she quickly returned to a serious demeanor. Her perfectionist nature doesn’t allow her to be easily satisfied.
“But next time, I’ll do my best to make fewer mistakes. I don’t want to waste this experience.”
Victoria had gained an important insight at this party. It was about adapting to the new trends in high society.
“The military aristocrats have slightly different tastes and preferences compared to the nobles we’ve dealt with so far. For example, their wine preferences, musical tastes, and even conversation topics. We need to keep that in mind and plan accordingly. It’s a big advantage to know this at this stage. We can make adjustments moving forward, and I’m very happy to discover new things.”
Victoria has already begun brainstorming ideas for the next party. In her eyes, the anticipation for the new challenge shone brightly.
“First, we will get to know the wives and daughters of the military aristocracy. From there, we will gather information and review our plans. In particular, we need to thoroughly research the topics that young officers prefer.”
Leaning against the terrace railing, she vividly imagines the next development.
Seeing Victoria, who was burning with ambition, Edward was convinced once again that his decision to seek her cooperation was not a mistake. He felt that her earnest attitude and meticulous attention to detail were precisely the qualities needed in high society.
Edward was determined to support her in doing things her way. He prepared the environment so she could plan without hesitation, and if any problems arose, he would take responsibility so she wouldn’t have to worry. He reaffirmed that this was his role.
