“Did that person come?”

“Ah. At first, it was reported that someone without an invitation was causing a ruckus trying to force their way into the venue.”

As Edward made his way to the scene, Damian, claiming to be the next head of the Blackthorn Duke family, was demanding entry with a rough attitude towards the maid. His angry voice echoed across the marble floor at the entrance of the venue.

Edward realized that he was the one who sent the aforementioned letter. Remembering the contents of the letter, he expressed his discomfort.

“Hurry up and let me into the venue. I am the next head of the Blackthorn Duke family!”

Damian’s voice was tinged with frustration at not having his demands met. However, the maid would never yield.

“We cannot allow anyone without an invitation to enter the venue.”

“Then, summon Victoria! I just want to talk to her. That’s all.”

Faced with Damian’s aggressive demeanor, the maid took a step back. At that moment, Edward stood firmly in front of the maid and replied in a calm yet resolute voice.

“She is currently busy organizing the party, so she doesn’t have time to meet you.”

“What did you say?!”

Damian glared at him fiercely. In his eyes, along with anger, there was also confusion at the situation where his position held no weight. However, Edward remained unfazed. The man before him looked like nothing more than a child throwing a tantrum. Despite his luxurious attire, his attitude was so immature that it was hard to believe he was the heir to a ducal family.

Damian carefully observed Edward, and perhaps realizing he was Victoria’s new fiancé, twisted his lips. Then, he continued in a condescending manner. His voice was filled with obvious hostility.

“I’ll take Victoria back. She’s too good for someone from a marquis family.”

Edward was speechless in disbelief. What was he saying after breaking off the engagement himself? Having heard the circumstances from Victoria, Edward was astonished by Damian’s arrogant attitude. He felt anger at Damian’s selfish desire to restore his relationship with Victoria for his own reasons. Suppressing those emotions, he continued to respond calmly.

“Anyway, we won’t let anyone without an invitation enter the venue, and we won’t let you meet Victoria either. Please leave.”

Edward’s voice had a strength that allowed no further argument.

“What!? Are you really not going to return Victoria no matter what? If you get in my way, I won’t hold back!”

Damian glared at Edward in anger and threatened that he wouldn’t show any mercy if he didn’t let him meet Victoria. Still, Edward didn’t feel particularly threatened.

“Hey, you guys! Restrain this man. He will be punished for defying the duke’s family.”

When Damian ordered the guards behind him to restrain Edward, the guards showed signs of confusion. They looked at each other’s faces, seemingly troubled about what to do. It was clear they were concerned about the consequences of using force in this situation, even though it was their master’s order.

“What are you doing? Stop dragging your feet. Can’t you follow my orders!?”

When Damian yelled at the guards, they reluctantly began to move. At that moment, soldiers from the Hardwood family, who had been waiting in the shadows of the pillars and around the corners of the corridors, appeared and swiftly restrained Damian and the guards. Their orderly movements were the result of regular training.

“W-What did you say!?”

Seeing Damian’s reaction, Edward was exasperated. It seemed that he was unaware that the Hardwood family was a military aristocracy. If they were opposed, they had the royal family’s permission to retaliate, even if the opponent was a ducal family.

Edward instructed to hand over Damian and the others to the Royal Knights and returned to the venue. He quietly resolved the matter to avoid disturbing the party’s atmosphere.

“There was such a thing.”

“I can’t believe such a thing was happening.”

Victoria, upon hearing the series of events from Edward, couldn’t hide her astonishment once again. She was shocked to learn what had happened while he was away. However, at the same time, she felt a sense of relief at Edward’s resolute response.
