My Fiancé Was Taken By My Younger Sister, But I Plan To Get My Revenge Through My Performance at The Social Party - Episode 3
It had been a few days since Victoria was informed by Damian that their engagement was broken off, and Isabella had become his new fiancĂ©e. Apparently, Damian and Isabella’s relationship seemed to be going well, as the younger sister repeatedly boasted to her older sister.
Even if the harassment of blatantly flaunting the joy of having stolen someone away is annoying, as long as they are just bragging about their fiancĂ©, it doesn’t cause much harm. For Victoria, as long as the two of them are getting along well, she thought she could avoid unnecessary trouble. It was important to her to not get involved.
“Sister, you need to find a new fiancĂ© soon. It’s tough, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
In response to Isabella, who spoke with a seemingly malicious smile, Victoria answered curtly.
“I’m so sorry. It’s all because I was chosen by Lord Damian!”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
To her sister who pretended to sympathize in a contrived manner, Victoria continued to feign indifference. If she reacted, Isabella would look pleased, so it was best to ignore her.
“Sister, are you really listening to what I’m saying?”
“Yeah, I’m listening.”
To Isabella’s irritable question, Victoria replied calmly.
During such mealtime, while I was casually nodding along to my sister’s bragging, our father, Frederick Rosewood, unexpectedly came to the dining table.
Her father, who is often busy with work and usually eats separately, had come to the dining table, which Victoria took as a sign that he had something important to discuss.
“I heard that you were informed by Lord Damian of the Blackthorn family about the broken engagement. I would like to hear the details about it. What led to such a situation?”
“Yes, I will explain.”
To Frederick, who asked with a serious expression, Victoria nodded honestly. She understood the reason for his visit. She just needed to explain.
“I also know about your engagement being broken off! I was there at the time.”
Then, Isabella interrupted. She said proudly, trying to show that she could explain it too. However, Frederick restrained Isabella.
“Isabella’s story can wait. Let’s hear from Victoria first.”
“Yes”
“Eh?!”
Isabella pouted in dissatisfaction. She genuinely believed that they should listen to her story.
Regarding the annulment of her engagement with Damian, Victoria had submitted a report a few days ago. She had left a document summarizing the key points of the events from a few days ago.
Frederick had already gone through it once. However, he thought it best to confirm the facts by hearing directly from the parties involved. He suddenly came to listen to the conversation to check if what was written in the report was true and to see if there were any inconsistencies. Victoria understood this as well, so she proceeded with the conversation carefully to avoid any contradictions or discrepancies.
Isabella, who was listening from the side, occasionally frowned and seemed like she wanted to say something. It seemed she was about to claim that it was different from her memory, but perhaps sensing her father’s sharp gaze, she unusually remained silent.
“――That’s what it means.”
“I see. An engagement cancellation, huh… I can’t believe this happened while I was busy.”
After Victoria finished her explanation, Frederick crossed his arms and wore a grim expression. Although there were other pressing matters, it seemed he regretted putting this issue on the back burner.
That alone, the actions of Damian and Isabella were unexpected for Frederick.
“I’m sorry, Victoria.”
“No, I have no problem.”
Victoria responded calmly to her father’s apology.
“That’s right! It’s your fault, big sister!”
Isabella interjects once again. She was filled with the conviction that she, who had been recognized by Damian, was in the right.
She had already forgotten the fact that she had betrayed her sister. Rather, she believed that Victoria had stolen her innovative ideas and accolades. She was convinced that the successful parties were truly her own achievements, because even Damian acknowledged it as a fact.
“Are you serious about that, Isabella?”
Frederick frowned at his daughter’s remark.
“What do you mean? It’s obvious that my sister is at fault. After all, she’s the one lying.”
Ignoring her father’s expression, Isabella answered confidently.
Seeing her father’s speechless expression at her daughter’s remark, Victoria secretly felt relieved. At least her father seemed to understand the situation correctly.
Let’s put Isabella aside for now. I thought it was necessary to follow up with Victoria first. So, Frederick faces Victoria once again.
“So, what do you want to do?”
“What do you mean by ‘how’?”
At her father’s question, Victoria tilted her head. Even when asked what she wanted to do; she didn’t know. So, Frederick presented her with options.
“If you want to restore the relationship, I’ll negotiate.”
“No way! Damian is going to be with me. Father, don’t interfere!”
“Shut up, Isabella.”
Frederick, after giving Isabella a sharp reprimand, waited for Victoria’s answer. Her wishes were the most important thing.
After a moment of thought, Victoria opened her mouth.
“I have accepted the annulment of my engagement to Lord Damian. Therefore, I have no objections to this.”
“I see.”
I had already accepted it a few days ago and was satisfied with it. That’s why I answered that there was no need for negotiations to restore the relationship. Frederick also nodded briefly, confirming and agreeing with his daughter’s decision.
Isabella was also secretly relieved that it hadn’t been taken back from her.
“Actually, Lord Edward of the Harwood family asked to meet Victoria.”
Frederick changed the subject and brought it up.
“When you mention the Harwood family, do you mean the military aristocrat, Marquis Harwood?”
“Oh, right.”
They are known as a family that doesn’t often show their face in high society, but their military skills and achievements are acknowledged by everyone. Victoria asked with interest.
“Sister, you might be well-suited to Mr. Edward from the Marquis family as your new fiancĂ©!”
Isabella emphasized the word “marquis family” and wore a suggestive smile. Her fiancĂ©, Damian, was the son of a duke family. On the other hand, the marquis family was of lower status—such a sense of superiority emanated from her demeanor.
Ignoring her cheeky younger sister’s words, Victoria continued her conversation with her father.
“Understood. I’ll meet with them once.”
“Understood. I’ll adjust the date and time and inform you of the meeting day. Until then, wait.”
After finishing the conversation with Victoria, Frederick turned around as he had just mentioned, to listen to Isabella’s story.
“Well then, it’s your turn to talk.”
“Finally! Well then, let’s talk in order, but first――”
Frederick quietly listened to Isabella’s story. Victoria also remained silent without interrupting. And she listened, thinking to herself that Isabella was saying selfish things.
“— That’s what happened. Isn’t it terrible?”
“I see.”
“Hey, wait, the conversation isn’t over yet.”
“Sorry, but I’m swamped with work right now. I think I’ve got the gist of what you were saying. If there’s anything more you want to add, let’s discuss it another day.”
After listening to Isabella’s story, Frederick stood up and said that, then returned to his work. Although Isabella still had more to say, she couldn’t bring herself to interrupt her father’s work and quietly saw him off.
Timing her move, Victoria also stood up from her seat and returned to her room, reflecting on her earlier conversation with her father.
Victoria was supposed to meet Edward from the Harwood family, but since they were famously known for disliking social gatherings, she couldn’t imagine what kind of person he would be.
Victoria had poured her heart into making countless parties a success. Could she really get along with someone who seemed to dislike socializing? At first glance, they didn’t seem like a good match, and she was anxious about whether they could have a proper conversation.
But I was curious about why they wanted to meet. If my father recommends it, it might be worth meeting.
Victoria harbored a quiet yet firm hope for this unexpected encounter.
