My Omega Ex-Wife Is Acting a Little Strange - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Early summer had just arrived, and City A already showed signs of growing hot and restless. The willow trees, which had long since sprouted green buds, swayed in the night breeze. After a light rain during the night, the A004 district lay in quiet stillness at dawn, with no sign of anyone around.
The wind carried the unique scent of soil, mixed with damp moisture, and rushed boldly yet gently into a villa through an open window. But in just an instant, it was overwhelmed by the thick aroma inside the houseāa blend of sea salt caramel and tea plum wine.
Yu Mo’s free left hand gently wrapped around Shen Shuyu’s slender waist, which she could hold with one grip. She kissed her rounded shoulder carefully and with special devotion.
Another wave hit, and Yu Mo nearly lost herself in the scent of her own tea plum wine pheromones. The bitter tea fragrance carried a hint of plum sweetness, and as her tongue savored it to the end, a faint wine aroma lingered.
Then the salty and rich sweetness of sea salt caramel slowly seeped into that cup of tea plum wine, clean and crisp, without a trace of impurity.
Shen Shuyu had her fill, her snow-white skin blooming with a pale pink flush, and her chest heaved dramatically as she collapsed onto Yu Mo’s body.
During Shen Shuyu’s heat period, Yu Mo always let the person beside her do as she pleased, satisfying her as much as possible.
As a result, she often could not even lift her arms the next day.
Perhaps because of the lingering warmth after their intimacy, Shen Shuyu slightly raised her hand and intertwined it with the one Yu Mo had just used to brush her hair.
Their hands were about the same size, with nails trimmed round and smooth. But Shen Shuyu’s were far more delicate than Yu Mo’s, with clear bones and tender skin like fresh green onions, without so many faint scars.
Shen Shuyu’s fingers accidentally touched the particularly obvious scar on the back of Yu Mo’s left ring finger, and her brows furrowed lightly.
It was a mark left from the accident a year ago.
“Yu Mo.” Shen Shuyu called softly by Yu Mo’s ear, her warm and languid breath brushing against Yu Mo’s ear, sending another wave of tingling through her.
“Sister, I’m here.” Yu Mo replied. She gazed into Shen Shuyu’s eyes, which still shone brightly amid their quiet depth, waiting for her next words.
But Shen Shuyu had no next words. She simply looked at Yu Mo quietly for a while longer. The morning light was dim, with a halo falling on Yu Mo’s face. Shen Shuyu could not see her features clearly, only roughly outlining the general shape of her face, thinking she was probably still that youthful, spirited, and bold campus figure from her memories, with brows and eyes full of boyish energy.
“Go take a shower.” Shen Shuyu said as she got up from Yu Mo’s body. Even with the air conditioning on in summer, after such activity, both of them felt sticky on their skin, and Shen Shuyu always disliked that sensation.
Soon, the sound of rushing water echoed from the bathroom. The wind lifted one side of the white curtain by the window, and sunlight fell into the spacious bedroom, casting onto the frosted glass door of the bathroom on one side. Yu Mo lay on her side on the bed, tilting her head slightly to watch the shadow of Shen Shuyu’s figure outlined on the frosted glass door by the light.
The curves flowed smoothly, graceful and elegant, like a fairy.
Yu Mo’s throat rolled gently, and her fingers unconsciously turned the ring on her ring finger, subtly showing her greed for Shen Shuyu.
Even though they had been married for half a year, Yu Mo still felt a sense of unreality.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped unnoticed by Yu Mo. Shen Shuyu came out wrapped in a simple pure white bathrobe, wiping her half-dry hair as she said, “Next week is Feng Ruoyu and Zhou Qin’s wedding. You haven’t forgotten, right?”
Yu Mo snapped back to attention in an instant. Facing Shen Shuyu’s question, she quickly propped herself up to sit on the bed and answered, “No.”
“Later, I’ll take you to the mall. They’ve been friends for years, so you should pick something out yourself.” Shen Shuyu said.
Hearing this, Yu Mo felt a faint urge to resist in her heart. “Sister, actually I can go by myself, no need to…”
“Go take a shower.” Shen Shuyu lifted her eyes to glance at Yu Mo, her gaze cool and detached, just like the rain that had fallen during the night.
Her words were cut off before she could finish.
It was like this again.
Yu Mo bit unwillingly at the inside of her lip, wanting to say more, but Shen Shuyu had already turned and left the bedroom.
Another gust of wind blew into the room, carrying the scent of tea plum wine that had not yet fully dissipated.
Yu Mo got out of bed barefoot. On her fair and slender instep, the raised blue veins stood out clearly. The bathroom still steamed with mist, water droplets hung on the walls tiled with small white porcelain, and Shen Shuyu’s scent wrapped Yu Mo tightly and seamlessly.
Yu Mo compromised once more, not with Shen Shuyu, but with herself.
She had no leverage to stand against Shen Shuyu at all.
Yu Mo liked Shen Shuyu, had liked her for eight years.
Everyone around knew how madly Yu Mo had loved Shen Shuyu back then, pursuing her relentlessly, pestering her endlessly, famous throughout the school.
Finally, last year, she had won the beauty’s heart, rising from the lower district to the upper district. It was like a night of spring breeze, leaping from fish to dragon, sparrow to phoenix.
But that was only surface glamour. What about in reality?
Yu Mo’s originally straight back slumped down in defeat, and water at just the right temperature poured from the showerhead, drenching her head and slowly wetting her black hair that reached only to her shoulders.
Water droplets slid from the top of her head onto Yu Mo’s long and thick eyelashes, blurring her vision.
A scene from a year ago in the hospital room floated into Yu Mo’s mind.
She remembered that the sky had been pitch black that day, with torrential rain pounding down from above. The asphalt road in the mountainous area was littered with car wreckage and parts. She had been dragged out of the overturned car by Shen Shuyu, the bl00d on the ground washed away by the rain and gone, but the smell was clear as day.
When she woke again, her long hair had been shaved clean, but a simple-style ring adorned her ring finger.
“I didn’t ask for your consent, but I think you won’t refuse, right?”
Under the soft lighting, it was the first tenderness Shen Shuyu had shown Yu Mo in eight years. Yu Mo clearly saw that on the ring finger of the hand Shen Shuyu held, there was also a ring matching her own in style.
Yu Mo felt she was the happiest person in the world at that moment, if she could ignore the news Shen Shuyu told her a few days laterāthat her parents had died in that accident.
Thinking back, after marriage, Shen Shuyu remained cold toward her. Yu Mo figured that if Shen Shuyu did not pity her, she probably would not have agreed to marry her at all.
The foam from the shampoo slid with the water into Yu Mo’s eyes, and the sudden stinging sensation gathered in that small spot on her eyeball. Yu Mo winced and splashed water to rinse it, her plain little face crumpling like a wrinkled sheet of white paper.
The water still rushed with a roar, mixed with a few faint sobs.
She did not know if it was the foam that made her eyes hurt too much or some other reason, but the corners of Yu Mo’s eyes turned fully red, and a sour blockage filled her nasal cavity, making her sniff hard several times.
Almost done washing, Yu Mo turned off the shower, roughly dried the water from her body, and came out with her hair still wet.
In the small living room, Shen Shuyu stood in front of the large sea tank she had spent a fortune on, fiddling with the landscape inside. She had not changed out of her bathrobe yet. Under the tightly wrapped bathrobe, a pair of milky white long legs crossed elegantly, the wide belt tied casually around her slim waist, accentuating her already superior figure proportions.
Yesterday, Shen Shuyu had brought home a new red-white-and-black Da Vinci clownfish, which was still adjusting to the sea tank. Shen Shuyu held a small water grass stick and teased it with interest, a rare hint of a smile even at the corner of her eye.
For a moment, Yu Mo did not know if she should go up and disturb Shen Shuyu, so she stood at the door and even lightened her movements while drying her hair.
Perhaps noticing someone at the door, Shen Shuyu looked up. She saw Yu Mo leaning half against the doorframe, standing there somewhat awkwardly and stiffly. A few wet strands of hair stuck to her fair little face, and the corners of her eyes visibly flushed an extra deep red.
“What’s wrong with the corner of your eye?” Shen Shuyu furrowed her brows slightly and stared at the corner of Yu Mo’s eye as she asked.
Shen Shuyu’s gaze made Yu Mo’s heart race faster. For some reason, she felt there was a touch of pity in Shen Shuyu’s look. It was as if in the next second, Shen Shuyu would walk over and gently stroke it with her fair and slender fingers to comfort her.
Just like how she had seen Feng Ruoyu treat Zhou Qin.
“The foam… got into my eyes.” Yu Mo stared tightly into Shen Shuyu’s eyes, forcing herself to stay calm.
Shen Shuyu nodded, her gaze leaving Yu Mo’s face, and she gave a casual reminder that meant nothing. “Be more careful next time.”
It was like a basin of cold water dumped unexpectedly and ordinarily over her head. Yu Mo gave a bitter smile in her heart, wondering what she was expecting again.
“Mm, got it.”
“What are you wearing when we go out later?” Shen Shuyu asked as she walked toward their walk-in closet.
Yu Mo had no mood to dress up and said offhandedly, “Sister, you pick.”
Shen Shuyu seemed to catch the poor tone in Yu Mo’s voice and turned her head to glance out from the closet. She saw Yu Mo’s small feet bare on the light gray tiled floor. “Haven’t I said it many times? Even in summer, you should wear slippers.”
Yu Mo looked down and wiggled her toes. The foot bones jutted out claw-like under the thin layer of skin. Ever since the car accident a year ago, Yu Mo had developed this odd habitāonly feeling grounded when her soles touched the floor directly.
She had told Shen Shuyu about this, but it seemed she never remembered.
As usual, Yu Mo replied, “Sister, this way I feel more at ease.”
“Whatever.” Shen Shuyu tossed the two words over with some dissatisfaction and turned back to continue matching outfits for them in the closet.
She could not help but think of that bright and bold Alpha girl in her mind.
Not the same, completely not the same anymore.
The house was quiet and peaceful. Yu Mo dried her hair as she walked to Shen Shuyu’s sea tank.
The little clownfish that had just been favored by her swam nimbly, following its new friend through the various sea anemones and corals that Yu Mo could not name.
Sometimes Yu Mo felt she was just like the fish in the tank that Shen Shuyu keptāfollowing her, trapped in the world she provided, under her protection, with life and death in her hands.
Then Yu Mo thought again that she was not even as good as these fish Shen Shuyu kept, because Shen Shuyu would at least smile at them.
