My Omega Ex-Wife Is Acting a Little Strange - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Yu Mo envied that little clownfish in the sea tank and felt even more sorry for herself.
She clearly knew that person did not like her, yet she had shamelessly chased after her for eight years. In the end, they still got married only because she felt sorry for herself.
Rather than doing it this way, it would be better to leave, just walk away, so both of them could live more freely.
“Yu Mo.” Shen Shuyu called out softly, pulling Yu Mo’s thoughts back in an instant.
Almost like a conditioned reflex, Yu Mo turned her head and answered, “What’s wrong, sister.”
“Help me fasten the buttons.” Shen Shuyu said.
“Okay.” Yu Mo immediately tossed aside the thoughts in her mind and walked toward the dressing room.
The summer sun was the most passionate; it had just been covered by a thin layer of mist, but now it shone brilliantly. Sunlight filtered through the tightly drawn white curtains on one side of the dressing room, falling on Shen Shuyu’s body and giving her a layer of soft halo. On her clean white and smooth back, there was a pair of beautifully thin shoulder blades, and some faint or obvious red marks scattered on it, like red plums blooming in the white snow.
“Come over.” Shen Shuyu turned her head to look back at Yu Mo; her eyes, enveloped in light, also held a bit more gentleness.
Yu Mo was stunned for a moment; the thin ice that had just formed in her heart melted away under Shen Shuyu’s light.
“I’m coming.”
This was a classical-style long skirt in an off-white color. Yu Mo stepped forward and gently placed her hand at Shen Shuyu’s waist; the乱麻雪纺 fabric was not as smooth as Shen Shuyu’s skin, feeling silky yet slightly rough to the touch. Yu Mo followed the line of Shen Shuyu’s waist, fastening the buttons one by one—these buttons were not easy to fasten—and the pads of her pale green-white fingers left behind an obvious red mark, standing out especially.
But what she did for Shen Shuyu went far beyond these traces that would disappear after a short wait.
These years by Shen Shuyu’s side, Yu Mo had been like a mad dog, willing to go to desperate lengths for Shen Shuyu; the several scars on her body had all been left that way.
The path they had walked had been full of hardships.
Up to now, Yu Mo was alone, with only this one person left by her side, the one she had obtained through utter disregard for her own life.
She could not bear to let go.
Shen Shuyu noticed Yu Mo’s fingers lingering on her back and turned her head to ask, “What’s wrong?”
Yu Mo slowly withdrew her fingers and forced out a smile. “Nothing, just that sister’s skirt fabric feels very comfortable; I could not help touching it a few more times.”
“This fabric is not that good; I ordered a satin one for you to wear to Ruoyu’s wedding next week. Try it then, and you will know; that is the good fabric.” Shen Shuyu said indifferently, casually picking up the skirt outfit she had chosen for Yu Mo and handing it to her. “Try it on.”
Yu Mo made a soft “mm” sound and took the skirt from Shen Shuyu’s hand. She had just said it casually, but it made her seem somewhat ignorant. The upper city district was different from the lower city district; beneath the prosperity were all sorts of luxuries Yu Mo had never seen before. Yu Mo fumbled clumsily on her own; even though she had been in the upper city district for more than half a year, she felt she still could not fit in here.
Sometimes Yu Mo thought that if Shen Shuyu would spare a little time to teach her, it would be good.
Yu Mo changed into the skirt with her mind wandering, and just like Shen Shuyu had called her to help earlier, she wanted to have her pull up the zipper on the side of her waist. But when she turned her head, the dressing room was quiet and still, with only herself there.
What was she fantasizing about again.
Yu Mo stood in front of the full-length mirror looking at herself, hooking up one side of her lip in self-mockery.
When Yu Mo came out after tidying up, Shen Shuyu set down the fish food in her hand and turned to look Yu Mo over.
Before marrying Shen Shuyu, Yu Mo had always been her bodyguard; her skin, weathered by wind and sun, was not good, but this half year or so being kept at home by Shen Shuyu had finally restored some of the fairness from her youth. Thanks to her Alpha nature, Yu Mo had an upright posture, even shoulders and slim waist, plus the addition of heaven-given beauty; the whole person looked enviably flawless.
Even for such a person, Shen Shuyu still had places she was not satisfied with. “Forget it, do not wear those shoes; change to the low-heeled ones instead. Walking in those does not look good on you.”
Yu Mo looked down at the awkward high heels on her feet and nodded sheepishly, turning to go back to the dressing room to change.
As if dissatisfied with Yu Mo for breaking her outfit choice, Shen Shuyu asked with a bit of reproach, “Did I not tell you before to practice wearing high heels at home when you have time? Why did you not listen.”
Yu Mo gripped the ten-centimeter high heels in her hand, her fingers tensing. “Sister, I cannot practice well.”
“You still have to practice; in the future, when you attend events with me, you will have to wear them.” Shen Shuyu said.
“Mm.” Yu Mo bit her lip tightly but still nodded.
Yu Mo really could not practice well; this feeling of her heels being suspended made her afraid from the bottom of her heart, and wearing them too long would make her unable to control her legs from shaking. But Shen Shuyu, who was smart and good at observing, had always ignored it, or even not noticed it at all.
Shen Shuyu drove her black vintage Maybach to bring Yu Mo to the S78 mall under the Shen Group. Today’s outdoor sunlight was the same as what she had seen at home; as soon as Yu Mo got out of the car, the bright sunlight fell on her face, dispelling some of the gloom on her body.
Yu Mo did not just enjoy the sunlight; as usual, she opened the black umbrella in her hand upon getting out and walked proactively to Shen Shuyu’s side.
Shen Shuyu looked at the shade cast over her head and frowned slightly, somewhat displeased. “You are my wife now; you do not need to do these things for me.”
“But sister, I am willing.” Yu Mo gripped the umbrella handle tightly and said.
Shen Shuyu looked at Yu Mo, who still had most of her body exposed to the sun, reached out to pull Yu Mo under the umbrella, and said expressionlessly, “No one’s wife is an umbrella holder just for the other. If you want to do it, do it properly.”
Just like that, Shen Shuyu gripped Yu Mo’s wrist when she was completely unprepared; her palm covered Yu Mo’s skin, warm and slightly damp. Apart from in bed, Shen Shuyu rarely had such physical contact with Yu Mo. This rare intimacy stimulated every nerve ending of Yu Mo’s, sending currents surging and her heart pounding like a drum.
Yu Mo was like a girl who had just fallen in love; a faint red color seeped through her cheeks, and she answered, flattered and surprised. “I understand, sister; I will pay attention next time.”
Shen Shuyu glanced at Yu Mo, keenly catching the slight flush on her cheeks under the shadow of the black umbrella, and hooked up the corner of her mouth without Yu Mo noticing.
Walking into the S78 mall, a lazy jazz English song was playing inside; the warm golden lights fell softly into Yu Mo’s eyes. At this moment, she was walking side by side with Shen Shuyu; the cold air from the central air conditioning carried the scent of Shen Shuyu’s pheromones, making Yu Mo especially enjoy it.
Yu Mo stole a glance at Shen Shuyu’s arm hanging naturally at her side; her own hand itched to reach over and link arms.
Since they were already wives, doing such a thing would not be too much.
Yu Mo thought of how Shen Shuyu had gripped her wrist earlier, and great courage welled up in her heart.
Ten centimeters, five centimeters, one centimeter…
“What are you doing?” Shen Shuyu sensed Yu Mo’s fingers about to touch her skin and instinctively raised her hand to avoid it.
“I…” Yu Mo’s face looked awful; she looked at her hand that had missed and the displeasure in Shen Shuyu’s tone, and all her earlier delusions vanished in an instant.
It was right then that Shen Shuyu’s phone rang. She did not pursue why Yu Mo wanted to do that, lowered her head to look at the phone, and said to Yu Mo, “Go browse around first; I have something to handle.”
With that, Shen Shuyu flicked her hand slightly, and the several bodyguards behind her split into two groups: half followed her, and half followed Yu Mo.
Yu Mo had originally wanted to say she could wait for Shen Shuyu in the coffee shop, but Shen Shuyu gave her no chance to speak and strode quickly toward a quieter area on the other side in her high heels.
Yu Mo watched Shen Shuyu’s back and spat out a word from her mouth with some loneliness. “…Okay.”
The mall’s song was still lingering lazily, but Yu Mo no longer had the mood to enjoy it. Without Shen Shuyu by her side, Yu Mo felt this place was lonely and boring. Unknowingly, Yu Mo wandered into a jewelry store called TR.
Remembering that Zhou Qin had liked collecting things like brooches back in school, Yu Mo thought she might as well pick a pretty brooch as a wedding gift for the two of them. Shen Shuyu probably would not think it rude either, since giving jewelry was the top choice for gifts recognized in both the upper and lower city districts.
But as soon as Yu Mo walked into the TR store, a sharp and mean face turned toward her. Chen Aimei, wearing a light rose-colored tight fishtail skirt, leaned against the display case and greeted her阴阳怪气. “Yo, is not this Yu Mo? What a coincidence, running into you here.”
“Yes, quite a coincidence.” Yu Mo did not want to deal with her, gave a greeting, and then lowered her head to look at the jewelry in the display case.
“It seems Shen Shuyu really spoils you; you even dare to come to TR.” Chen Aimei would not let it go and walked to Yu Mo’s side, continuing.
Yu Mo moved a step to the side in disgust. “It is not for me to buy; it is a wedding gift for Ruoyu.”
Chen Aimei laughed meaningfully. “Yo, you are still going to Feng Ruoyu’s wedding next week? You have been married to Shen Shuyu for so long, and it is rare to see you attend such an occasion. No, it is that someone is willing to invite you to attend.”
Yu Mo’s chest was poked.
When Shen Shuyu married Yu Mo back then, it had caused a huge stir in the upper city district.
The sole daughter of the grand Shen Group did not choose the second young master of the Chen family, did not choose the eldest miss of the Wei family, but instead chose to marry down to an orphan girl from the lower city district whose parents had just died. It was truly jaw-dropping. As a result, for this half year, many formal occasions had not invited Shen Shuyu to bring her partner.
By rights, after marriage, the two partners should attend hand in hand; it was an unwritten rule in the upper city district long ago, meaning to introduce each other’s new identity to everyone, a kind of recognition of status.
It was quite a joke; up to now, Yu Mo had not been taken by Shen Shuyu to any formal occasion, and not being recognized by the people of the upper city district was one thing, but Yu Mo felt that even Shen Shuyu might not recognize her.
Seeing Yu Mo not speaking, Chen Aimei laughed out in disbelief. “Why are you not talking? This is not like you; back in school, you could stir up trouble from nothing, how after marrying into the Shen family, you learned to behave, turning from a mad dog into a pet dog?”
Yu Mo furrowed her brows tightly; what she hated most was being called a dog. “Who are you calling a dog?”
“Of course you; who in this circle up and down does not know that you, Yu Mo, are just a guard dog the Shen family found for their own Omega daughter. How now that you have finally climbed into Shen Shuyu’s bed, you do not admit it?” Chen Aimei sneered; these years of being suppressed by Shen Shuyu had made her vent her anger on Yu Mo without mercy. “Using your parents’ lives as a stepping stone to climb into Shen Shuyu’s bed, you really love Shen Shuyu terribly.”
“Slap”—a crisp, loud sound rang out, and everyone present widened their eyes in shock.
Yu Mo had just slapped Chen Aimei.
“Say it again!” Yu Mo’s whole body was shaking; in this past year, she had heard countless gossips, and the fabrications about her parents’ death had been exaggerated to a shocking degree.
Shen Shuyu knew about it, understood, but did nothing, and Yu Mo had long stopped wanting to endure it.
This time, Chen Aimei had run into the gun muzzle herself; it was her own fault.
Originally, Yu Mo’s Alpha rank was quite outstanding; under anger, the sea salt caramel pheromones she released completely lost the mellow sweetness of the caramel, and the thick, pure sea salt flavor surged toward Chen Aimei wave after wave, pressing down so hard she could not even lift her head.
“Yu Mo! You are crazy! You dare hit me?” Chen Aimei covered her face in furious shame, completely disregarding the occasion, and released her own sour strawberry pheromones toward Yu Mo.
“What is the commotion?” A majestic and icy voice of reprimand sounded; Shen Shuyu walked over from a visual blind spot on one side. Her face carried some anger; under the mall’s lights, those pale silver-tinted eyes looked coldly at Chen Aimei.
