My Omega is a Top Heavenly Master - Chapter 2
Mu Baicheng rarely slept so comfortably on a summer night; the small room felt like it had an air conditioner set to 16 degrees all night long.
The coolness in her arms was incredibly pleasant. Mu Baicheng’s consciousness hadn’t fully awakened yet, but she tightened her arms, instinctively wanting to hold the source of coolness in her embrace even tighter.
Her phone’s alarm suddenly interrupted Mu Baicheng’s peaceful morning. Mu Baicheng impatiently reached towards the bedside. The cool source in her arms was indeed very comfortable, but it was also a bit too heavy.
Mu Baicheng quickly turned off the alarm, wanting to linger a bit longer with the “radiator” in her arms. Wait, Mu Baicheng’s eyes snapped open.
The icy, jade-like touch in her arms was clearly human skin. And in her dilapidated room, besides herself, there was only Qin Xiyao.
Mu Baicheng abruptly looked down at her chest and found that Qin Xiyao had somehow burrowed into her clothes, their skin touching intimately.
The softness of the Omega’s chest brushed against Mu Baicheng’s, startling Mu Baicheng backward a few inches until her head hit the headboard with a thud. The noise woke the person in her arms. Qin Xiyao opened her eyes, and a hint of impatience rippled in her calm gaze, as if blaming Mu Baicheng for waking her.
Mu Baicheng rubbed her head, then quickly grabbed Qin Xiyao’s waist, pulling her out of her clothes. With that pull, the Omega’s exquisite body was exposed to Mu Baicheng’s eyes. Mu Baicheng snatched the thin blanket, which barely covered anything, and draped it over Qin Xiyao.
“You, you, you… how could you…” Mu Baicheng couldn’t utter a complete sentence. It was true she had a defective gland, but she was still an Alpha, after all. Did Omegas nowadays not know how to protect themselves?
Qin Xiyao rubbed her eyes, threw off the blanket, and collapsed back into Mu Baicheng’s arms. Her soft voice sounded, “You’re too noisy. I want to sleep a bit longer.”
Mu Baicheng held her hands up high, as if she had been acupunctured. At thirty years old, this was the first time Mu Baicheng had faced such a situation. It wasn’t that Omegas hadn’t approached her before, but once they discovered Mu Baicheng’s naturally defective gland, they all kept their distance.
For the past thirty years, the closest Mu Baicheng had been to an Omega was the distance of eating a meal face-to-face. What was happening now? Skipping all the previous stages of interaction and fast-forwarding directly to this step? No, no, no, Mu Baicheng pulled the blanket and wrapped Qin Xiyao up.
She then jumped out of bed, putting a safe distance between herself and Qin Xiyao. “No, Miss… please have some self-respect.”
Qin Xiyao, wrapped in the blanket, walked barefoot off the bed and stood in front of Mu Baicheng, their noses barely an inch apart. The room was too small for Mu Baicheng to retreat further, so she could only close her eyes, forcing herself not to look at this beautiful Omega.
“Will a hug make me lose a piece of flesh?” Compared to last night, Qin Xiyao’s voice had some warmth, as if she had been too weak last night and had recovered a bit this morning.
“No,” Mu Baicheng said definitively. “Alphas and Omegas shouldn’t be too close.”
“Aren’t we both women?”
Mu Baicheng choked. That was true, but it wasn’t a matter of being a woman or not. “But you’re an Omega, and I’m an Alpha.”
“I have everything you have, and I don’t have anything you don’t have. Why avoid it?”
Mu Baicheng didn’t know how to explain it to Qin Xiyao, but it also confirmed her guess: Qin Xiyao really had transmigrated from another place.
Mu Baicheng helped her pull up the slipping blanket, making sure Qin Xiyao was tightly wrapped. The Alpha was a head taller than the Omega, and they were very close. Mu Baicheng said seriously, looking like a kindergarten teacher educating a child, “It’s different here. We have ABO…”
“I know. Can you mark me?”
Qin Xiyao’s question left Mu Baicheng utterly speechless. Could she? Probably not? “I…”
“Then why are you hiding? You held me very tightly last night, or are you saying…” Qin Xiyao raised an eyebrow, her cool gaze sweeping up and down Mu Baicheng’s slender body. “Not only is your gland not working, but other parts aren’t either?”
Mu Baicheng… Good heavens, are Omegas this direct nowadays? What should I say? Mu Baicheng’s throat bobbed. Qin Xiyao’s eyes were so calm, yet Mu Baicheng somehow perceived a serious inquiry in that gaze.
Mu Baicheng steeled herself, wrapped an arm around Qin Xiyao’s waist, and tossed her onto the bed. She then rummaged through her suitcase, pulled out a set of clothes, and threw them to Qin Xiyao. “You wear these for now. I’ll go buy you some underwear. You have to pay me back when you get rich.”
Mu Baicheng didn’t turn around, fearing that this celestial being would say something astonishing. Seeing Mu Baicheng’s flustered back, Qin Xiyao didn’t let her off the hook.
“Do you know what size I wear?” Her tone was faint, but the end of her sentence carried a hint of teasing. Mu Baicheng, however, didn’t catch it, and her hand on the doorknob paused.
Mu Baicheng stood still, carefully pondering Qin Xiyao’s words. Qin Xiyao had a great figure, definitely much bigger than her own B cup, but whether it was a C cup or larger, Mu Baicheng genuinely didn’t know at the moment.
“This…”
“I’ll go with you.” The rustling sound of changing clothes filled the air. Soon, the Omega put on the oversized T-shirt, and her cool fingers covered Mu Baicheng’s hand, pressing down on the doorknob to push the door open, then walking straight out.
Mu Baicheng stared blankly at Qin Xiyao’s retreating figure. Was this Omega a bit… too cool? As an Alpha, she had to admit, she was impressed by an Omega.
“Aren’t you coming with me? I don’t have money in this world.” Qin Xiyao paused and looked back. If she weren’t wearing clothes from this world, Mu Baicheng would have thought Qin Xiyao was so unreal she might fly away at any moment.
“Coming.” Mu Baicheng reacted, then felt a pang of heartache again. She’d probably have to be even more frugal this month. She hoped this Omega lady would get rich soon so she could pay her back quickly.
••••
Life in the old housing district started quite early in the morning. The elderly were already out exercising. Some sharp-eyed neighbors recognized Mu Baicheng.
“Good morning, Xiao Mu. Is this your girlfriend? She’s really pretty.”
“No…” Mu Baicheng didn’t even have time to explain before a group of old ladies pulled her into conversation, asking about what to pay attention to during a relationship, when they were getting married, when they planned to have children, and when they planned to have a second child.
Good heavens, these old ladies had accelerated Mu Baicheng’s life pace by who knows how much. Mu Baicheng spent a great deal of effort to rescue herself and Qin Xiyao from the old ladies’ siege.
She took Qin Xiyao to the only lingerie shop in the area. Coincidentally, the shop was owned by Mu Baicheng’s landlady, Mrs. Luo.
“Xiao Mu, the new quarter is coming soon, don’t forget to transfer the rent to me. I gave you quite a discount last quarter. I’ve inquired, and your apartment now costs at least 3500 a month.”
Mu Baicheng almost coughed up a mouthful of old bl00d. This Mrs. Luo was truly a leech; how could she charge such a high price for such a dilapidated apartment?
Mu Baicheng understood that this was also the highest price she could afford now. Every inch of land in Hushi was precious, and if she moved elsewhere, Mu Baicheng simply couldn’t afford the rent.
Qin Xiyao glanced at Mrs. Luo, then picked up two pieces of lingerie and said to Mu Baicheng, “I want these two.”
“Okay.” Qin Xiyao’s words also saved Mu Baicheng from Mrs. Luo. Mu Baicheng paid with the remaining three hundred yuan in her WeChat Pay wallet.
After paying, she was truly penniless. Looking at her almost-zero balance, Mu Baicheng sat at the fitting room door and sighed heavily.
She really didn’t understand why Omega lingerie was so much more expensive than Alpha lingerie.
“Omegas are hard to raise, aren’t they?” A glass of water was handed to Mu Baicheng.
Mu Baicheng looked up and saw Mrs. Luo’s smiling face. In Mu Baicheng’s impression, Mrs. Luo had never looked at her with such a kind expression before.
Mrs. Luo sat next to Mu Baicheng, her tone unusually gentle. “Xiao Mu, it’s not easy for you, struggling alone in a big city. You know, it’s very difficult to marry an Omega nowadays.”
“What exactly do you want to say?” Mu Baicheng frowned, asking. Mrs. Luo’s tone made Mu Baicheng uncomfortable; she always felt there was another meaning beneath her kind smile.
Mrs. Luo affectionately took Mu Baicheng’s hand. “Was that your sister just now? She’s really pretty. You know my son isn’t much older than you…”
“Mrs. Luo,” Mu Baicheng interrupted Mrs. Luo coldly. So, she was waiting for her here. Who knew that Mrs. Luo’s son was an idler who only knew how to drink and play mahjong all day, and despite having a bear-like face, he constantly fantasized about beautiful Omegas.
“Don’t even think about it.” Qin Xiyao pulled open the fitting room curtain. The wide T-shirt was tucked into her waist, revealing a section of her fair, slender waist. She pulled Mu Baicheng off the stool and hooked her arm around Mu Baicheng’s, “She’s my Alpha.”
Mrs. Luo looked at Mu Baicheng with disdain. “Her? Little girl, you need to look carefully. Xiao Mu is a good person, but she’s a pauper! And, she has a defective gland.”
“She’s good-looking.” This one sentence left Mrs. Luo speechless.
That Mu Baicheng was good-looking was a universally acknowledged fact in the entire old housing district. Previously, Old Man Wang’s granddaughter had pursued Mu Baicheng like crazy, but unfortunately, Old Wang’s family wouldn’t allow their granddaughter to be infatuated with a disabled Alpha and forced her to marry another Alpha.
Mu Baicheng had a typical strong-featured, mature beauty. She usually dressed neatly and cleanly. If Mrs. Luo hadn’t known Mu Baicheng’s age beforehand, she would often have thought Mu Baicheng was a recent college graduate; the clean aura about her really didn’t seem like a thirty-year-old.
Ignoring the speechless Mrs. Luo, Qin Xiyao pulled Mu Baicheng out. As they reached the door, Qin Xiyao paused and said, “Her brows are often furrowed, and her glabella has many lines [1]. You should keep a closer eye on your husband.”
After they walked out the door, Mu Baicheng asked Qin Xiyao in confusion, “What did you mean by that just now?”
Qin Xiyao calmly glanced at Mu Baicheng. “How much of the ‘Complete Guide to Face Reading’ in your room have you read?”
Mu Baicheng scratched her head, a bit embarrassed. She had learned Daoist arts from her master since childhood, but she was only a half-baked practitioner. She had barely learned Liuyao [2], but as for face reading… her master had passed away before teaching her.
“You can read faces?” Mu Baicheng found the key point after a moment. Could it be that this Omega was also in the same profession as her in her previous world?
Qin Xiyao didn’t answer the question. She looked up at the sky, calculating in her mind, “Summer Full, Mang, Summer Heat are connected, wealth comes from the East.” “Where do you usually earn money?”
“East Lake Park.”
“Where?”
Mu Baicheng wasn’t sure if Qin Xiyao could read phone maps, but for a moment, she really didn’t know how to explain the location of East Lake Park to Qin Xiyao. After much thought, she could only show Qin Xiyao her phone.
Unexpectedly, Qin Xiyao could understand the phone map. After confirming that the park’s location was not far from where she thought, Qin Xiyao returned the phone to Mu Baicheng. “Let’s go, to set up a fortune-telling stall.”
Mu Baicheng’ was delighted upon hearing this. Could it be that Qin Xiyao saw something from her face? Mu Baicheng pointed to her cheek. “Did you see from my face that I’m going to get rich today?”
Qin Xiyao’s eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at the joyful Mu Baicheng. There are thousands of facial features, and Qin Xiyao could read thousands, but in this world, there were only two people she could not see through: herself, and her Dao companion… who was also the person in front of her…
