My Online Lover Lives Next Door (GL) - Chapter 14
Lu Yao, who had just been warned: “…”
For a moment, she didn’t know whether to say that He Qing was too full of herself or to admit that she had meddled in other people’s business for no reason.
But He Qing’s attitude did satisfy her.
They weren’t even together yet, and she was already thinking about her best friend in every way. Not bad at all.
For this reason, she decided not to hold a grudge against He Qing for being rude to her.
Lu Yao didn’t stay in the living room for long. After finishing her conversation with He Qing, she went back to her room. After all, with He Qing around, it wasn’t her job to take care of the drunk Jian Fanxing.
And honestly, if she were the one taking care of her, He Qing would probably think she wasn’t doing it well enough or being careful enough.
In no time, the living room was left with only He Qing.
With Lu Yao gone, He Qing hesitated for a moment before decisively stepping into Jian Fanxing’s room.
As for her reason? She convinced herself that the living room was too far from the bedroom, and she wouldn’t be able to hear anything from inside. That meant if Jian Fanxing needed something, she wouldn’t be able to get there right away.
Jian Fanxing slept very well. She was in the same position as when He Qing had left, looking just as peaceful as before. She was as obedient as she had seemed when He Qing first got to know her online.
Because of the alcohol, Jian Fanxing’s cheeks had turned a soft shade of red, as if she had applied blush. It made her look incredibly cute. He Qing’s lips curled into a smile, and she couldn’t help but stare at her for a long while.
She wondered what it would feel like to touch her.
This thought suddenly popped into He Qing’s mind.
Little Star was fast asleep. If she touched her just once, she wouldn’t notice, right?
The impulse in He Qing’s heart became harder and harder to suppress. She looked at Jian Fanxing’s peaceful sleeping face, her right arm twitching slightly. Then, slowly, she lifted her hand, moving it closer and closer. As her fingers neared Jian Fanxing’s face, she hesitated for only a second before finally reaching out.
He Qing stared unblinkingly at Jian Fanxing, and finally, her fingertip touched her cheek. It was as soft as she had imagined—warm and delicate. It felt so nice that she didn’t want to pull her hand away.
She wasn’t sure how long she had been touching Jian Fanxing’s face, but soon, just using one finger was no longer enough for her. Holding her breath, she carefully added a second finger… then a third… then a fourth… and finally, her entire palm was pressed gently against Jian Fanxing’s cheek.
The warmth of her skin made He Qing’s eyes soften with satisfaction.
They had known each other for seven whole years, saying “I like you” and “I love you” countless times over text, but this was the first time she had ever physically touched Jian Fanxing like this.
It was comfortable. Addictive. And… she didn’t want to let go.
He Qing greedily thought—so long as Jian Fanxing didn’t wake up, she could keep her hand here forever, right?
But her naive thought didn’t even last two minutes before she suddenly felt a gaze on her. She lifted her eyes slightly—only to meet Jian Fanxing’s wide, dark eyes. They still held traces of drunkenness, along with curiosity.
“Who are you?” Jian Fanxing asked in a dazed voice. “Are you a fairy sister?”
“Fairy sister, did you know I was thirsty, so you came to bring me water?”
The moment Jian Fanxing spoke, He Qing immediately pulled her hand away, avoiding her gaze.
Hearing her words, though, He Qing couldn’t help but chuckle.
Fairy sister? She had gained quite a few new titles tonight.
Miss He. Ex-girlfriend. He-the-heartbreaker-Qing. And now, fairy sister…
Still, He Qing preferred hearing Jian Fanxing call her “sister.”
She reached out, her arm slipping behind Jian Fanxing’s neck and resting on her shoulder, gently helping her sit up.
Only then did she pick up the hangover soup and bring it to Jian Fanxing’s lips.
Jian Fanxing must have been really thirsty because as soon as she felt the warmth at her lips, she gulped down several large sips before stopping.
Once she had finally quenched her thirst, she wrinkled her nose and pouted in a spoiled tone, “It tastes bad.”
He Qing froze for a second. She couldn’t help but wonder—was this how Jian Fanxing sounded in those voice messages when she was being playful?
Before she realized it, her usually cold expression softened, and her voice carried an unmistakable fondness.
“Then we won’t drink it anymore, okay?”
Hearing He Qing coaxing her so gently, Jian Fanxing smiled contentedly and obediently hummed in agreement.
But she didn’t close her eyes right away. Instead, she stared directly at He Qing.
“Fairy sister, you’re so pretty,” she said. “Be my girlfriend, okay?”
Before He Qing could even react, Jian Fanxing continued, “My girlfriend doesn’t want me anymore. Fairy sister, will you want me?”
Meeting Jian Fanxing’s eager gaze, He Qing’s heart skipped a beat—like a still lake suddenly rippled by a falling stone.
“I…” He Qing was overjoyed, ready to agree immediately. But just as the words reached her lips, she swallowed them back down.
“You’re drunk. Get some sleep first, okay?” He Qing said gently.
Yes, Jian Fanxing was drunk. Anything she said tonight, she would forget by morning. It wouldn’t count.
Even if she took advantage of this moment to say yes, forcing Jian Fanxing to acknowledge her as her girlfriend once she was sober—she wouldn’t be happy.
And He Qing wanted Jian Fanxing to be happy. Every moment, every day.
Saying yes now would only burden her.
Hearing He Qing refuse, Jian Fanxing was clearly unhappy. She pouted, her lips pushing out so far that she could almost balance a bottle on them.
“I don’t want to sleep,” she huffed. “Fairy sister, you haven’t answered me yet—do you want me or not?”
This…? He Qing hesitated. She wanted to avoid the question, at least until Jian Fanxing was sober. But this drunken version of her seemed even more stubborn—like she wouldn’t stop until she got what she wanted.
Jian Fanxing waited a while, but He Qing still didn’t answer. She grew anxious. As if afraid He Qing would run away, she suddenly threw off the covers, reached out her hands, and hooked them around He Qing’s neck. Without a second thought, she yanked He Qing toward her.
And then—
*Mwah!*
A loud, clear smooch echoed through the room as Jian Fanxing’s lips pressed firmly against He Qing’s.
Satisfied that she hadn’t kissed the wrong spot, Jian Fanxing let go, looking proud of herself. “Fairy sister, I’ve given you my stamp,” she declared smugly. “Remember, you’re mine now!”
“Mmm, now I can sleep peacefully.” With that, she closed her eyes, and within moments, her breathing evened out.
He Qing was still frozen, completely stiff.
Did… did Little Star just kiss her?
She kissed her?
He Qing stiffly lowered her gaze to the sleeping girl in her arms, her eyes unconsciously landing on Jian Fanxing’s lips.
What had it felt like when Little Star kissed her? He Qing furrowed her brows tightly, trying to recall.
But her mind was completely blank.
Her first kiss with Little Star… and she had no memory of it?
