My Online Lover Lives Next Door (GL) - Chapter 35
He Qing had no idea that her father had already spread the news of her relationship with Jian Fanxing throughout the entire company.
As the car entered the parking garage and came to a stop, He Qing was about to get out when Jian Fanxing grabbed her hand.
He Qing looked at her in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
“Sis, I’m nervous,” Jian Fanxing said, her voice trembling slightly.
“Nervous? Why?” He Qing was even more puzzled. She stared at Jian Fanxing for a moment before realizing something. “Xiaoxing, are you afraid?”
Jian Fanxing nodded hard. “Today is my first time appearing at our company with you. I don’t know if I can act like a boss’s wife.”
But what she feared more was that others might not think she was a good match for He Qing.
Even though she kept telling herself that other people’s opinions didn’t matter, deep down, she still hoped to be accepted by everyone around He Qing. Even if they were just employees, their approval still meant something to her.
He Qing was amused by how Jian Fanxing called it “our company” and referred to herself as “the boss’s wife.” She gently patted Jian Fanxing’s head, her usually cool voice now full of warmth. “Don’t be afraid, I’m here. Just stay by my side.”
“Okay.” Jian Fanxing finally let go of He Qing’s hand and got out of the car.
He Qing naturally took the camera bag from Jian Fanxing’s shoulder, and her other hand instinctively reached toward Jian Fanxing’s hand—but halfway there, she paused.
Looking into Jian Fanxing’s eyes, He Qing asked, “ Little Star, do you mind… if others know about our relationship?”
If Jian Fanxing wasn’t ready, He Qing wouldn’t force it—that was what she meant.
He Qing waited quietly for an answer.
Jian Fanxing was stunned for a second by the question, but when she realized what He Qing meant, she was touched. Without hesitation, she grabbed He Qing’s half-extended hand.
“Why would I mind? I wish everyone knew that you’re mine.”
Her strong possessiveness was obvious in her words. After speaking, she carefully glanced at He Qing, unsure if she would dislike how possessive she sounded.
He Qing smiled. Xiaoxing was bolder than she had thought.
“Alright, let’s go in together.”
With that, He Qing held Jian Fanxing’s hand in one hand and carried her camera bag in the other, walking into the elevator in high heels.
She could have taken the private elevator directly to the 28th floor, but remembering what Jian Fanxing had just said, she chose to take the employee elevator with her instead.
Since the employee elevator didn’t go straight to the 28th floor, they had to transfer at the first floor.
9:00 AM was the busiest time for the elevators at He Group, as employees were all arriving for work. Some came earlier to avoid the rush, but when the elevator doors opened, more than ten men and women were still waiting outside.
Hearing the elevator chime, the employees instinctively moved forward, eager to squeeze in—after all, they only had a few minutes left to clock in.
However, they all froze halfway.
The expressions on the ten or so people’s faces were shockingly identical, like they had been copied and pasted.
Stunned!!!
Jian Fanxing felt all the eyes on her and instinctively tried to shake off He Qing’s hand. But midway, she changed her mind and instead tightened her grip. Still, she couldn’t help feeling nervous and subconsciously looked at He Qing.
She saw that He Qing remained expressionless and calm. Noticing Jian Fanxing’s gaze, He Qing turned to her, a brief flash of warmth passing through her eyes. “Let’s go.”
He Qing’s voice wasn’t loud, but both Jian Fanxing and the employees outside the elevator heard her. Immediately, the group of employees hurriedly made way for them.
Holding Jian Fanxing’s hand, He Qing calmly walked through the crowd and stepped into the private elevator across from them.
It wasn’t until the elevator doors closed that the stunned employees finally snapped out of their daze.
“Was that… President He just now?”
“Who was that person with her?”
“Her younger sister, right? Otherwise, why would President He be holding her hand?”
“A younger sister can hold hands with her older sister, but just because someone’s holding hands doesn’t mean they’re siblings. They could be dating. Have you all forgotten what kind of person President He is? If that wasn’t someone special, would she let them get so close, let alone hold hands?”
“But didn’t Old President He say…”
“Old President He only said that President He is in a relationship. He never said if it was with a boyfriend or a girlfriend.”
“I can’t believe President He is into women. What a pity.”
“Pity what? Girl-girl couples are even cuter!”
“Come on, it’s 2025! Are you still stuck in the outdated belief that men and women should pair up to ‘balance things out’? Love is love, no matter the gender!”
…
Inside the elevator, Jian Fanxing, who had been standing straight just moments ago, suddenly slumped her shoulders.
Jian Fanxing patted her chest, still feeling a little shaken. She looked at He Qing and asked, “Sis, did I look like a boss’s wife just now?”
“Mm, you did,” He Qing replied indulgently.
Hearing this, Jian Fanxing giggled foolishly and chattered on, “I think so too! You have no idea how hard I was trying to stand straight. My back feels sore now!”
As she spoke, she reached out to rub her aching waist, but before she could, a hand beat her to it.
He Qing gently but firmly massaged Jian Fanxing’s waist. Then, leaning in close to her ear, she teased, “You worked hard… Little Star.”
The warm breath against her ear instantly turned Jian Fanxing’s face red. She had read plenty of romance novels, and in those stories, the elevator was always the place where something romantic or intimate happened.
And now, they were in an elevator.
Her sister was speaking so close to her ear.
Her hand was on her waist.
Even though He Qing probably had no special intentions, Jian Fanxing couldn’t help but let her imagination run wild.
The more she thought about it, the more she couldn’t stop. Especially when she recalled their kiss that morning, it felt like a fire was burning inside her. Without thinking, she turned around and grabbed He Qing’s hand that was on her waist.
He Qing looked at her in confusion. Then, she noticed Jian Fanxing’s flushed cheeks and watery eyes, as if she were inviting her to do something.
He Qing’s heart wavered. She parted her lips slightly, her throat dry, and her voice unconsciously turned husky. “ Little Star, can I…”
Ding—
The crisp sound of the elevator arriving interrupted them.
“He Qing, you’re here?! Oh… isn’t this…”
Outside the elevator, Lu Feng saw the two of them and blinked. Did he just show up at the wrong time?
Especially with their current posture—it was obvious what was about to happen…
For the first time, Lu Feng wished he had his own private elevator too.
But time couldn’t be reversed. All he could do was lower his head and pretend he hadn’t seen anything. Then, as He Qing and Jian Fanxing stepped out, he spoke at just the right moment. “Miss He, Miss Gu is here. She’s waiting for you in your office.”
Miss Gu? Who was that?
Jian Fanxing glanced at He Qing.
The next second, He Qing explained, “Gu Xiao?”
Lu Feng nodded. “Mm.”
Hearing this, He Qing frowned, her reluctance clearly written on her face. “What is she doing here?”
As a personal secretary, Lu Feng was very competent. He shared his thoughts at the right time. “She probably heard from Old President He that you’re in a relationship. You know how she is…”
He glanced at Jian Fanxing. Seeing that He Qing didn’t stop him, he continued, “Miss Gu likes you, so she’s most likely here to get some answers from you.”
“In other words, to stir up trouble.”
After a pause, Lu Feng added, “Miss He, should I take Miss Jian to the break room for now?”
“Miss Gu can be quite unreasonable.”
He Qing stopped walking and thought for a few seconds before nodding at Lu Feng. “Take Little Star to the break room first.”
After instructing Lu Feng, He Qing turned to Jian Fanxing and spoke gently, “Little Star, go with Lu Feng to the break room for now. I’ll come get you after I send her away.”
“Also, don’t overthink things. I have nothing to do with her, but… she’s a bit difficult to deal with, and I don’t want her to hurt you.”
Gu Xiao was, without a doubt, the most troublesome person He Qing had ever encountered.
They met at a banquet. At first, He Qing thought Gu Xiao was a refined and elegant lady from a wealthy family—polite and graceful. But after getting to know her, she realized Gu Xiao was a complete troublemaker.
From the moment they first met, Gu Xiao publicly confessed to her in front of everyone at the banquet. After being rejected, she wasn’t discouraged at all. Instead, she became even more persistent, even declaring that she would one day make He Qing hers.
He Qing wanted to avoid her, but since the He family and the Gu family had business ties, she had to give Gu Xiao’s father some respect. So every time Gu Xiao came looking for her, she had no choice but to deal with her reluctantly.
Everyone in their social circle knew about Gu Xiao’s obsession with He Qing. She treated He Qing as if she were her own possession.
In the past, He Qing just let her be as long as she didn’t cause any trouble.
But this time…
“Miss He, I’ll take Miss Jian now,” Lu Feng said.
He Qing waved them off, then turned and headed to her office.
On the way to the break room, Jian Fanxing asked Lu Feng, “Mr. Lu, just now, I heard you say that this Miss Gu likes my sister?”
Lu Feng nodded. “Yes. But saying she ‘likes’ President He is an understatement. It should be called obsession—crazy obsession.”
As he spoke, he pointed to the secretary’s desk, where a massive bouquet of roses sat.
Bright red roses.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine of them.
Too big for one person to carry alone.
“That bouquet? Ever since Miss Gu met our Miss He, she’s sent one every single day, without fail. Even though she knows Miss He doesn’t like them, she still insists on sending them. She says she thinks President He is like a rose—charming but covered in thorns.”
Lu Feng was the only one who knew everything about He Qing and Jian Fanxing’s relationship. So, he reassured her, “But don’t worry, Miss Jian. Our Miss He doesn’t like her. Miss He only likes you.”
