My Online Lover Lives Next Door (GL) - Chapter 38
He Qing suddenly felt that her father was just as troublesome as Gu Xiao.
“Dad, I told you I have a plan. What are you doing?”
He Jun noticed that his daughter was really getting angry, so he stopped talking about the topic. However, he still muttered in a slightly aggrieved tone, “I’m just afraid you’ll be rejected.”
As an elder, even if someone wanted to refuse, they would at least consider his feelings and give him some respect.
But his own daughter? She was like a dog biting Lü Dongbin—unable to recognize good intentions.
“Alright, alright. I’m just annoying everyone here. I’ll leave now.”
Jian Fanxing was confused about the conversation between He Qing and He Jun, but when she heard that He Jun was leaving, she quickly stepped forward to send him off.
He Jun waved his hand, refusing her offer. “No need, Fanxing. Just stay here and keep this one company. Otherwise, she’ll get petty again.”
He Jun gave his daughter a glare—she had clearly forgotten about her father now that she had a wife.
Since she was refused, Jian Fanxing gave up the idea of seeing him off. When the office door closed, she glanced at He Qing, who looked more relaxed now. Suddenly, her mind became clear.
“Sister, was Uncle He just asking when I plan to tell my parents about us?”
He Qing didn’t deny it and nodded. “Yes.”
“But I’m not like my dad. I’m not in a hurry.” While He Qing was looking forward to meeting Jian Fanxing’s parents, she understood her hesitation. When her own father first found out about her and Jian Fanxing, she had been terrified of being rejected. Fortunately, things had turned out well for her.
But with Jian Fanxing’s parents, He Qing wasn’t sure what would happen.
She didn’t want to pressure Fanxing or make her feel troubled.
“Sister, I haven’t told you much about my parents, have I?” Jian Fanxing fell silent for a moment before holding He Qing’s hand.
He Qing nodded. “You don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to.”
Even though Jian Fanxing had never mentioned her parents, He Qing had already seen their information on her desk. She had a feeling that their background was the reason Jian Fanxing never talked about them.
Jian Fanxing shook her head. Her sister understood her, but she couldn’t keep hiding this forever. She could also tell that He Qing was really looking forward to meeting her parents.
“Sister, I come from a rural village. My parents are farmers—real, hardworking farmers.” Jian Fanxing found it difficult to say. He Qing’s father was the founder of a large company, a man of status and wealth. If it weren’t for her relationship with He Qing, their families would have never had any connection.
Now, because of their relationship, some people might think she was the one reaching too high.
She was the one marrying up.
After speaking, Jian Fanxing carefully observed He Qing’s reaction.
He Qing noticed her nervousness and smiled gently. She reached out to pat Jian Fanxing’s head and said softly, “ Little Star, you forget that I’ve already looked into your background.”
“I know all about your parents.”
“What’s wrong with being farmers? If you go back three generations, isn’t everyone from a farming family?”
“Little Star, I love you simply because I love you. It has nothing to do with anything else. Don’t worry about it, okay?”
Jian Fanxing wanted to not worry, but the huge difference in their backgrounds made it impossible for her to ignore it.
Seeing that Jian Fanxing remained silent, He Qing added, “Besides, how do you know that I’m the one looking down on them? Maybe it’s the other way around. Maybe they’ll be the ones who don’t approve of me.”
“After all, I did manage to steal away the daughter they’ve raised for more than twenty years.”
He Qing’s words warmed Jian Fanxing’s heart. Seeing her sister mock herself like this, she couldn’t help but smile. “Sister, actually, when I told you my parents are farmers, it wasn’t because I was ashamed of it. What I really wanted to tell you is that because they’ve lived in the countryside all their lives, they are very traditional in their thinking. So, our relationship won’t be easy for them to accept.”
Jian Fanxing was truly worried.
Before Gu Xiao appeared, she had the patience to slowly introduce the idea to her parents. But now that Gu Xiao was around, she knew her sister was being pursued by someone else. Jian Fanxing suddenly wanted to take He Qing home right away, introduce her to her parents, and get their approval so they could settle their marriage as soon as possible.
But between her and He Qing, her parents were the biggest obstacle.
Hearing this, He Qing just smiled and gently kissed Jian Fanxing’s forehead. “Don’t worry. You have me.”
“Just take me home, I’ll handle your parents.”
Even though she wasn’t confident, she believed that sincerity could move hearts. Sooner or later, Star’s parents would agree to their relationship.
Jian Fanxing was still worried, but since the day to bring He Qing home hadn’t arrived yet, she turned her attention to something else. Her gaze finally landed on He Qing’s smudged lipstick and the lip print on her face.
Jian Fanxing’s mouth fell open. “S-Sister… Your face…”
“My face? What’s wrong?” He Qing reached up to touch her face and saw lipstick stains on her hand.
Lipstick? She finally realized—her face had been kissed by Jian Fanxing earlier. That meant…
He Qing suddenly recalled Lu Feng’s hesitant expression and her father’s excitement about taking a picture. Her mouth twitched.
“Sister, Uncle He must have seen it just now.”
Jian Fanxing: What does it mean to die of embarrassment? This. This is it.
Uncle He must have known the lip print was from her.
He Qing took a deep breath. “Maybe… not just my dad. His old friends probably saw it too.”
“Huh?”
“He took a picture of me earlier.”
Jian Fanxing was stunned. She panicked and looked at He Qing. “Uncle took a picture? A picture of you with the lip print? Why? What is he going to do with it?”
He Qing sighed. “He posted it on his social media.”
“Ever since he found out we’re dating, he’s taken up a new hobby—showing us off online.”
Her father was probably the happiest he had been in years.
Since her mother passed away, he had rarely smiled. He had become more reserved and quiet. But lately, He Qing had seen genuine joy on his face again.
It was all thanks to Star.
“Social media?” Jian Fanxing suddenly remembered that she had added He Jun on WeChat. She quickly grabbed her phone and checked her feed. The first thing she saw was He Jun’s latest post.
‘Getting old, getting old… Young people really know how to have fun.’
One simple caption—accompanied by a picture of He Qing, her smudged lipstick, and the obvious lip print on her face.
Jian Fanxing shivered. She almost dropped her phone.
Looking up at He Qing, she asked in a trembling voice, “Sister… Does Uncle have a lot of friends on WeChat?”
He Qing thought for a moment. “Quite a lot.”
Especially since last night, when her father had added a bunch of new friends.
Jian Fanxing wanted to cry. “So that means… a lot of people know about the lip print now?”
How was she supposed to face the world after this?!
While Jian Fanxing was panicking, He Qing remained calm. She comforted her, “Actually, I think it’s a good thing.”
“?? Good… good thing?”
He Qing nodded. “Yes.”
“First, this basically announces to everyone that I, He Qing, am taken.”
“Second, it means you’ve already gained my father’s approval—you’re practically the future lady of the He family.”
“And third, it shows that we’re deeply in love, so no one should try to interfere.”
To be honest, when He Qing put it that way, Jian Fanxing couldn’t argue.
It was a simple and effective way to get rid of any potential love rivals.
“Still worried?” He Qing asked gently.
Jian Fanxing broke into a big smile and shook her head. “Not worried anymore. Sister is right.”
“Good girl.” He Qing tapped Jian Fanxing’s nose affectionately, full of love.
“So… shall we begin?”
“Begin what?” Jian Fanxing blinked, momentarily confused.
“The photoshoot.” He Qing said, already reaching for her clothes.
Jian Fanxing’s mind froze. Without thinking, she grabbed He Qing’s hands, stopping her from pulling her shirt down. “W-What are you doing?!”
He Qing looked at her innocently. “Changing clothes.”
“You can’t just change in front of me!”
Wasn’t she worried that Fanxing might see something she shouldn’t?
Her sister had a great figure. Every time she looked, she couldn’t help but imagine what He Qing looked like without clothes.
But imagining was one thing. Actually seeing it… she wasn’t ready!
“A-And this outfit looks fine!” Jian Fanxing’s eyes darted around nervously as she stammered.
He Qing looked down at herself and pouted. “But it’s not the one you personally picked for me.”
“I like the one you chose more.” He Qing said as she reached to undress again.
Jian Fanxing quickly stopped her. “Wait! I’ll leave first.”
She turned to walk toward the door, but just as she stepped forward, He Qing grabbed her hand.
“No need to leave. I have a dressing room here.” He Qing’s eyes flashed with disappointment. Her plan to tease Fanxing had failed.
Jian Fanxing still didn’t dare to look at her. So, He Qing gently pushed her into a chair and went into the dressing room. A moment later, she emerged wearing the suit Jian Fanxing had picked.
Jian Fanxing took one look and, for some reason, felt that this outfit looked way better on He Qing than the previous one.
Jian Fanxing: I must be going crazy.
Her gaze fell on He Qing’s lips. She had touched up her lipstick, but the lip print on her face was still there.
Jian Fanxing was confused. Why hadn’t she wiped it off?
Seeing her puzzled expression, He Qing smiled. “I think the lip print makes the photos look better.”
