My Online Lover Lives Next Door (GL) - Chapter 43
Jian Fanxing turned around and saw He Qing leaning against the door. She had no idea when she had come back.
A bright smile quickly appeared on her face as she said, “Sister, you’re back?!”
He Qing nodded softly and walked over naturally, wrapping her arms around the slim waist she had been admiring for a while.
Resting her chin on Jian Fanxing’s shoulder, He Qing spoke in an incredibly gentle voice.
“Little Star, I missed you.”
They say a day apart feels like three years. He Qing had always thought that was just an exaggeration. But after experiencing it herself, she finally understood—every famous saying in this world isn’t spoken without reason. There is always a truth behind it.
The person who first said this must have also suffered through the pain of longing, just like her.
What does it feel like to hear the person you love say they miss you? To Jian Fanxing, it felt as sweet as honey.
She couldn’t help but smile. Then, she turned around and planted a soft kiss on He Qing’s cheek. “I missed you too.”
“I missed you so, so much.”
“Sister, the food in the pot is almost ready. We should—” Jian Fanxing was about to say they should eat first, but before she could finish, He Qing had already reached out and turned off the stove. Then, with a gentle pull on her waist, she smoothly turned Jian Fanxing around so they were facing each other.
“Little Star, before we eat, I want a little dessert first,” He Qing said.
Jian Fanxing blinked in confusion. She was just about to say she hadn’t made any dessert when He Qing suddenly leaned in. By the time she realized what was happening, He Qing’s soft lips were already on hers.
So… the dessert Sister was talking about was actually her.
Jian Fanxing finally understood, though a little too late.
He Qing was someone who kept her word. She said she wanted just a little dessert, and true to her word, she only kissed Jian Fanxing for a while before letting go. She had no intention of taking things further in the kitchen.
But as the warmth of He Qing’s lips faded, Jian Fanxing felt a strange sense of disappointment. It was as if she had secretly hoped for something more.
As soon as the thought surfaced, her face flushed red, and she quickly pushed it back down. What was wrong with her? She was thinking too much.
She stole a glance at He Qing. Seeing that He Qing hadn’t noticed anything, she breathed a sigh of relief and turned her attention back to the stove.
The food was already cooked, so there was no need to turn the heat back on. She simply had to plate the dishes.
As soon as Jian Fanxing placed the food onto a plate, He Qing naturally took it from her hands and carried it to the dining table.
With just the two of them, Jian Fanxing hadn’t cooked much—three dishes and a soup, all with light flavors. She remembered that Sister couldn’t eat spicy food.
Looking at the dishes on the table, He Qing realized that everything was made according to her tastes. None of them were particularly suited to Jian Fanxing’s preferences.
She frowned slightly and said, “Little Star, you should make some food that you like too.”
Jian Fanxing was willing to accommodate her, but He Qing didn’t want her to sacrifice her own preferences.
“Sister, it’s fine. Eating lighter food is healthier anyway. My old eating habits weren’t great to begin with. Besides, I won’t always cook like this. Sometimes, I’ll make something with stronger flavors too. So don’t worry about it. Now, hurry up and eat.” As she spoke, Jian Fanxing picked up a piece of stir-fried lettuce and placed it into He Qing’s bowl.
Seeing that Jian Fanxing had her own plan, He Qing didn’t say anything else and focused on enjoying the meal her girlfriend had prepared.
“Oh, by the way, Sister, I have a photoshoot appointment tomorrow, so I won’t be home to cook. You’ll have to eat lunch and dinner at the office,” Jian Fanxing informed her.
Hearing that Jian Fanxing wouldn’t be around tomorrow, He Qing frowned slightly. But photography was something Little Star loved. It was only when she was doing what she loved that she showed that warm, radiant smile—the one that He Qing adored, like sunshine in spring, capable of melting away all the cold in the world.
After thinking about it, He Qing chose to support her.
“Alright, but…” She looked at Jian Fanxing with a teasing glint in her eyes. Then, her tone changed slightly, carrying a hint of grievance. “Little Star, I won’t have my girlfriend to keep me company tomorrow. I’ll be so lonely. Shouldn’t you comfort me a little tonight?”
She emphasized the word “comfort” in a way that made it clear she didn’t mean it in the usual sense.
Jian Fanxing’s face turned bright red. They had just… earlier in the day… and now Sister wanted more at night?
Even though she… actually liked it too…
But she was already twenty-five, old enough to know what she should and shouldn’t do. Doing that too often wasn’t good for the body, right?
But if she refused, Sister would definitely be sad.
After hesitating for a moment, Jian Fanxing lowered her eyes and whispered, “Sister, I… still feel sore.”
He Qing paused for a second before realizing what she meant. She let out a helpless chuckle.
She knew she had been careless during the day—of course, she knew it herself. But all she wanted was to hold Xingxing in her arms while they slept tonight.
She hadn’t expected that her impatience earlier had made Little Star think she was someone with an excessive desire.
A flash of embarrassment crossed He Qing’s eyes. She cleared her throat and quickly assured, “Little Star, I just want to hold you while we sleep. I promise I won’t do anything… at most, just a little kiss?”
She looked at Jian Fanxing nervously. Surely, she wouldn’t refuse even a small kiss, right?
Luckily, Jian Fanxing finally nodded. “Okay.”
“Where is your photoshoot tomorrow? Send me a message when you’re done, and I’ll come pick you up.” He Qing did a quick calculation in her head—if she worked more efficiently, she could finish her tasks around the same time as Jian Fanxing and go pick her up.
“Oh, by the way, is your client a man or a woman? Is it just the two of you? Will anyone else be with you? Should I ask Lu Feng to go with you?” Suddenly remembering this, He Qing bombarded Jian Fanxing with one question after another, leaving her momentarily stunned.
For the first time, she felt that setting up a photoshoot was such a complicated process.
But then she realized—wasn’t Sister just worried about her?
Understanding this, Jian Fanxing carefully answered each of He Qing’s questions.
“Well, the client should be a woman… but even if it’s a man, it doesn’t matter. I already asked Yaoyao to come with me, so there’s no need to trouble Mr. Lu. As for the end time, this is our first meeting, so we need to discuss what kind of photos she wants before choosing a location. The place and time aren’t set yet, but once I know, I’ll definitely send you a message.”
Hearing that Lu Yao would be going as well, He Qing felt more at ease. After thinking for a moment, she took out her car keys and handed them to Jian Fanxing. “You and Lu Yao should take my car tomorrow. Having your own transportation will be more convenient.”
Jian Fanxing was about to say she didn’t have a driver’s license when He Qing spoke first. “I know you don’t have one, but as far as I know, Lu Yao does.”
Lu Yao did have a license—she had just gotten it recently and was still a new driver.
But thinking about He Qing’s car, with its three-pointed star emblem, Jian Fanxing hesitated. What if Yaoyao’s driving wasn’t steady and she accidentally scratched or dented it…?
Noticing the expression on Jian Fanxing’s face, He Qing immediately understood what she was worried about. She explained, “That car is just one of many in my garage. Even if it gets a scratch or a dent, it’s not a big deal. Besides, there’s insurance, so don’t worry about it.”
When Lu Yao found out they’d be driving He Qing’s car tomorrow—and a luxury brand at that—she was excited at first, but then she started to worry.
“Fanxing, I just got my license, and Miss He’s car is really expensive. If I accidentally scratch it… Fanxing, you have to sweet-talk her for me so I don’t have to pay too much, okay?”
Hearing her friend’s playful teasing, Jian Fanxing sighed. “Sister already said it’s fine. Just drive with confidence. Even if something happens, the car is insured, so you don’t have to pay.”
“Oh, in that case, I feel much better.”
While Jian Fanxing was chatting with Lu Yao, He Qing was on the phone with Lu Feng.
Since she had given her car to Jian Fanxing, she asked Lu Feng to bring another car from her garage to her building since she would need it tomorrow.
An hour later, Lu Feng arrived with the car.
At that time, He Qing was in the middle of a video conference with overseas business partners, so she sent a message to Jian Fanxing, asking her to go downstairs and get the keys.
Outside, Lu Feng stood by the car, waiting. When he saw Jian Fanxing approaching, he quickly stepped forward.
“Miss Jian.”
“Here are Miss He’s car keys.”
Jian Fanxing reached out, took the keys, and nodded. “Thank you.”
After that, she was about to leave since she wasn’t very familiar with Lu Feng. But just as she turned around, she hesitated and turned back.
“Mr. Lu… can you tell me more about Miss Gu Xiao?”
When it came to her rival in love, Jian Fanxing felt that the brief information she got from Lu Feng earlier wasn’t enough. She wanted to know more and, if possible, avoid any potential troubles—especially anything that had already made Sister dislike Gu Xiao.
“Miss Gu?” Lu Feng raised an eyebrow. “Miss Jian, are you worried that President He will be taken away by her?”
“Actually, you really don’t need to worry about that. Miss He’s feelings for you are far beyond anything Miss Gu could ever hope to compare to.”
“Besides, Miss Gu has been clinging to Miss He for years, and yet, Miss He has never treated her differently. If it wasn’t possible before, it’s even less likely now.”
Lu Feng knew his boss well. If He Qing had any interest in Gu Xiao, she wouldn’t have remained cold and distant toward her for so long.
The only reason she hadn’t pushed Gu Xiao away completely was because of business ties with the Gu family—out of respect for the elder Mr. Gu.
“Miss Jian, I think instead of worrying about Miss He, you should be more concerned about yourself. Based on what I know about Miss Gu, she’s more likely to come looking for you.” Lu Feng gave her a serious warning.
After all, compared to the difficult-to-approach President He, Jian Fanxing seemed like an easier target.
Gu Xiao wasn’t stupid.
“Come looking for me?”
Lu Feng nodded. “For example, she might show up and throw a bank card at you, telling you to leave Miss He. Or she might use your parents’ jobs to pressure you into giving up on her. These tactics aren’t particularly sophisticated, but they can still be effective.”
Gu Xiao wasn’t the type to play fair or act morally.
Jian Fanxing understood. She answered firmly, “No matter what, I will never leave Sister.”
