My Roommate Is a Dirty Talker (GL) - Chapter 49
The sweet, lingering scent seemed to still cling to Shen Weixiao’s slender, pale neck, her skin warm and her heart tingling.
Â
Truthfully, taking the bus home from B City would have been the quickest route, but Shen Weixiao had a secret motive. Even during those few short hours, she felt like she was living on memories alone. She couldn’t imagine how she would endure the upcoming boredom of life back home. She embarrassingly touched her flushed cheeks, realizing that even without seeing her Goddess in person, Shi Xuan’s sweet words could still stir her so deeply.
Â
As she gazed at the withered branches and lifeless scenery along the way, the bleak landscape did nothing to dampen her spirits. Instead, her heart brimming with sweet thoughts, she found the sight of nature’s awakening particularly endearing.
Â
The thirty-six-colored ancient braided bracelet on her wrist seemed to glow with a warm, radiant light. Within the orange-red gemstone, Shi Xuan’s smiling face seemed to shimmer, making it impossible to tear her gaze away.
Â
Even in the sleeper car, the aisle was still a bit crowded with people coming and going. When Shen Weixiao heard the slurping sounds from the boy across the aisle as he ate his noodles, she quickly swallowed a few mouthfuls of her instant noodles and retreated to her bunk. This lower bunk had been secured for her by Shi Xuan at the last minute. A week earlier, Shen Weixiao had learned that Shi Xuan’s family had difficulty getting to the bus station, so she had dragged her into a night-long vigil, staring at 12306 to snag a ticket.
Â
As always, the Goddess’s luck prevailed, securing a lower bunk on the first try.
Â
Shen Weixiao leaned back against her pillow, wrapped in a thick, long coat.
Â
Her Old Article was nearing its final chapters and epilogues, while she had already agreed with Bao Bao to launch her New Article in mid-next month. Having been focused on writing academic papers, she hadn’t checked her author’s backend in ages. When she finally opened it, she was pleasantly surprised to find the situation had improved dramatically. Feeling relieved, she logged into her Author’s Weibo to read the comments.
Â
She opened Trending Topics and typed Spring Sleep Unaware of Dawn. The top result was a pinned Weibo post from Hua Nu, filled with anger.
Â
Shen Weixiao knew of Hua Nu but had never interacted with her directly.
Â
The sudden appearance of this author on her homepage left her utterly astonished.

Regarding the misunderstanding three years ago, where author Spring Sleep Unaware of Dawn was falsely accused of plagiarizing my work, I want to reiterate once again Spring Sleep Unaware of Dawn did not engage in any plagiarism, including meme remix or meme mashup. I urge fans to act rationally, take responsibility for their words and actions, and remember not to believe false information that damages others’ reputations or to blindly trust biased sources and engage in malicious slander. I hope my dear Hua Nu fans won’t be manipulated by others. Support legitimate works and original content! A million kisses to you all! Love you!
Â
Shen Weixiao carefully scrolled through Hua Nu’s Weibo feed. Hua Nu’s usual style was comedic and endearing, with posts mostly featuring her pets or humorous, lighthearted anecdotes. This was likely her first time posting something so serious, and to defend an author she had no connection to—a move that risked offending others without any personal gain—was truly puzzling. Checking the timestamp, she realized the post had been published just yesterday afternoon.
The scenery outside the car window blurred into a series of compressed frames as the vehicle sped along. Shen Weixiao rested her head on her propped-up right hand, her left hand slowly massaging a cool, large yellow pear. A faint smile played on her lips, making an outsider think she was admiring some exquisitely carved architecture or breathtaking landscape.
Â
The images in her mind grew increasingly vivid. Shen Weixiao pondered the Goddess’s promise to take her home to B City, her heart racing with excitement. What will the Goddess’s house be like? she wondered anxiously. And what will her mother be like? Gripping the pear tightly, she suddenly sighed.
Â
I told my mom about you, Shi Xuan said, her tone matter-of-fact. She’s really eager to meet you.
Â
Shen Weixiao’s heart skipped a beat. Ah! So soon? I… I’m not ready yet! She suddenly felt flustered, grabbing the Goddess’s hand and bouncing nervously. What did she say? No objections?
Â
I’m not ready to meet your family yet, Shen Weixiao said, her voice trembling slightly. And… I don’t even know how to tell my brother and sister-in-law. The thought of the pressure that would come with being together filled her with inexplicable dread, yet she couldn’t deny that beneath the fear lay an even stronger current of anticipation and sweetness.
Â
Shi Xuan calmly observed Shen Weixiao’s sudden anxiety, gently taking her hand. Her eyes shone with unwavering resolve. Xiao, don’t be afraid. Trust me, I can handle all of this. A hint of certainty flickered at the corner of her eye before she smiled. She just wants to meet you. If you’re too nervous, we can wait a little longer.
Â
Perhaps it was the Goddess’s tender gaze, or the serene peace that settled in her eyes, but Shen Weixiao found herself hypnotized. After a moment’s hesitation, she suddenly curved her lips into a smile and nodded slowly. I’m just a little flustered. Meeting your family so soon… I’m really nervous.
Â
Completely ignoring the stares of passersby, Shi Xuan’s right hand glided up Shen Weixiao’s cheek, then slowly slid down to her collarbone. Her voice dripped with honeyed sweetness. We’ve been together for three years already. If I don’t introduce you now, I might not get a wife until I’m nearly thirty!
Â
After a moment’s thought, she gently pinched Shen Weixiao’s cherry tomato, her face lighting up with a radiant smile, as if teasingly saying, I can’t wait.
Â
Intrigued, Shen Weixiao continued scrolling, noticing that many of Hua Nu’s recent posts and likes involved interactions with Tanxin Bujue. Perhaps it was a woman’s intuition, but Shen Weixiao couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss.
Â
Should I reply and thank her? Would that seem too dramatic?
Â
After a moment’s thought, Shen Weixiao opened Weibo and relentlessly bombarded Tanxin Bujue with questions about her suspicions via private message. Tanxin Bujue finally squeezed out a few minutes from his busy schedule and replied with a smug, So what if you know? Yeah, I’m with Xiao Hua now! She’s my woman, and we’ve wiped the slate clean between you two. My women need to stick together.
Â
Shen Weixiao shuddered at his words. These two really did become friends through fighting, she thought. I wonder what Tanxin Bujue was thinking when he first challenged Hua Nu to a battle? What kind of story led them here? Yet, at this moment, his fiercely protective tone toward his wife left Shen Weixiao both amused and exasperated.
Â
What about your previous marriage partner? she typed, adding a nose-picking emoji.
Â
Tanxin Bujue immediately retorted, The current one is the only one that matters, got it? You should worry about your own future with Lao Xue, your ‘soulmate’ of three years and ‘bedmate’ of three months. I’m out—my wife’s calling me for a date at Baling Peach Hill. 886.
Â
Just as Shen Weixiao returned to her Weibo feed, another notification popped up. Probably just my buddy dropping another bombshell, she thought, clicking on it only to find a message from a stranger with the username Hua Xinbaicai.
