My Second Engagement: Loved by the Duke’s Son and Thanked for My Healing Magic ~ My Selfish Sister Took My Fiancé, but Gave Him Back Because She Didn’t Want Him Anymore~ - Episode 3
For the first time in my life, I stepped into the back garden of the duke’s mansion to use magic.
The back garden had a dedicated training ground for magic, and I heard that Lord Gress often trained there.
“The first magic you unleash will be your basic magic according to your aptitude. Since I have a water attribute, even if fire were to appear, I should be able to stop it.”
“That’s reassuring. The attributes are broadly divided into four types: fire, water, wind, and null, right?”
“That’s correct. Even if you have a wind attribute, I can stop it with an ice wall using water magic, so please rest assured. If you have a null attribute, nothing will happen, but at the same time, you should be able to use a unique personal magic.”
The thought of finally discovering which attribute I had was incredibly exciting.
My hope was to have the rare null attribute. Also known as personal magic, it allows a person to use a single unique spell that reflects their individuality.
Now, let’s unveil my first magic.
Following what I had learned from the magic book, I concentrated the magical energy flowing through my body into both hands and released it.
“Release!”
I had longed for this day for so long.
Feeling elated, I chanted my spell with excitement.
Lord Gress, who was watching over me, had a serious expression, though.
However—
No fire, water, or wind appeared. Yet, it wasn’t as if nothing happened, like with a null attribute.
Instead, a strange light flashed from my hands, and that was it.
“Huh?”
“Could this be…”
Lord Gress looked shocked.
Could it be that, even though I have magical power, I don’t have an aptitude for any of the four attributes?
“It might be the legendary light attribute that isn’t recorded in any magic books!”
“Excuse me?”
What is that supposed to mean?
“Long ago, during a calamity that nearly wiped out humanity, there was someone who saved mankind with a special magic that did not belong to the four attributes. I’ve heard stories about it.”
“Huh…? So, you’re saying I can use some kind of magic like that?”
“It’s possible. And the amount of magic you gathered in your hands… it was immense. Your magical power is clearly far higher than mine.”
The scale of this revelation was too overwhelming for my mind to process.
“Light magic is recorded only in forbidden texts stored in the royal palace. It is said to be capable of all forms of healing, but since no one has been able to use it for the past hundred years, it was merely documented and then sealed away.”
“Healing… So, that means no more drinking bitter herbal medicine for colds or using stinging plants to treat wounds?”
“If that’s true, this is an incredible discovery.”
Healing magic, huh… If that’s the case, there’s something I’d like to test immediately.
If I can heal injuries, then perhaps the wound Lord Gress is hiding…
“May I try casting magic again?”
“You may, but if it really is the light attribute, I won’t be able to help if something goes wrong. The amount of magic consumed is also unknown. Please, be careful.”
“Thank you. Now, let’s begin…”
Magic activation requires chanting while focusing magical energy, but the name of the spell is left to the individual.
I decided to use something simple and easy to remember.
“Heal!”
“What?!”
Lord Gress was shocked that I had cast the spell on myself and hurried toward me. His beautiful face was suddenly very close to mine.
Needless to say, my heart was racing for a completely different reason.
“What were you thinking?! Do you realize how dangerous it is to use magic on yourself without knowing what it does?”
He seemed genuinely worried. His concern was evident in the way he scolded me.
I wondered if he had ever gotten this upset at Almia before.
“I apologize. Since it was healing magic, I thought the best way to test it was on myself.”
“That may be true, but you should still experiment cautiously.”
I stepped back and bowed my head to Lord Gress in apology.
“I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“I’m just glad you’re safe… truly! So, did anything change?”
“Uh… well…”
I had cast the spell to heal the wound on my back.
The pain that would flare up whenever my clothes rubbed against it was now completely gone.
I… I really can use healing magic!
“May I try healing the wound on your leg, Lord Gress?”
“How did you know my leg was injured?”
I hadn’t realized it was a fracture—I had only noticed that he was favoring his right leg.
But walking around with a broken bone?! That’s far too reckless!
“When we met before, your gait was completely different. You seemed to be favoring your right leg.”
“Hah… No one in the royal palace noticed, yet you figured it out so quickly. You have a keen eye, Miss Falrune.”
Lord Gress rolled up his right pant leg, revealing the injury.
Oh no—his leg was swollen and bent in an unnatural direction!
A fracture like this needs proper rest to heal, or the bone might set incorrectly!
“Why did you push yourself this far?!”
I momentarily forgot about status and hierarchy, speaking in a sharp tone out of concern.
For some reason, Lord Gress looked pleased.
“This is nothing. There are far more people suffering than me. I couldn’t afford to complain.”
He must have endured unbearable pain.
“May I try using healing magic?”
“I would be grateful.”
“But earlier, you were worried about me using magic on people…”
“That was because you cast it on yourself. I have no problem if you use it on me.”
I had more questions, but for now, I should focus on healing his injury.
Once again, I concentrated magical energy into my hands.
The magic book mentioned that using magic multiple times can cause fatigue, but so far, I felt nothing.
It seemed I could continue casting spells without issue.
“Heal!”
