One evening, the distance between them had significantly narrowed. The time spent eating together at home suddenly increased, and the atmosphere in the dining room was no longer cold and indifferent. The sister and sister-in-law seemed to be getting along very well.
That evening, before dinner time and while Xu Jingyi’s yoga session hadn’t even ended, Lin Ruoyan hurriedly returned home. She rushed in, simply greeted everyone, and went straight upstairs.
Xu Jingyi frowned, got up from the ground, and followed Lin Ruoyan upstairs.
Lin Ruoyan was too anxious. When Xu Jingyi went up, she noticed that the door to the other person’s bedroom was still open.
Suddenly, she became nervous as well and went straight in without knocking.
The carpet’s soundproofing was so effective that Lin Ruoyan didn’t notice Xu Jingyi coming up; at that moment, she was changing clothes with her back to the door.
She took off her shirt, and on the bed lay the sweatshirt she had just taken out of the wardrobe to wear.

“Ruoyan.” She spoke up, “What happened?”

“Why are you so anxious over such a small matter? “Is there anything going on lately?”

Xu Jingyi’s tightly furrowed brows still hadn’t relaxed. “Is there anything unusual today?”
The person on the other end paused for a moment before saying, “No.”
Xu Jingyi didn’t know what else to say, forcing down the strange feeling in her heart, she reminded him a few more times to keep a close watch before hanging up the phone.
She was anxious not necessarily because of this matter; it could be something related to the company or something else. Changing into a hoodie didn’t seem like it was for a formal occasion.
After a bout of wild speculation, in the end, she didn’t even eat dinner.

After Lin Ruoyan left the house, she got into a car and then switched to another one midway before heading to her destination. The destination was an old residential complex. Inside a room, a woman was surrounded by people. When Lin Ruoyan arrived, the leader of the group stepped forward.
“Miss, it’s her.”
The woman was probably scared and was currently huddled on the sofa. Upon seeing Lin Ruoyan come in, she was even more frightened, lowering her head and trembling.
“Mm.”She spoke calmly, standing in the room, looking at the somewhat dilapidated environment and not wanting to sit down.
The man who came to greet her hummed in response, and after turning around, his attitude was clearly different. “Be honest, answer whatever you’re asked.”
Lin Ruoyan spoke up, “Who made you do it?”
The woman was taken aback and immediately started shouting, her voice sharp and piercing, “I don’t know anything! I don’t know anything! No one told me to do anything!”
Lin Ruoyan frowned tightly at her noise. The person standing next to the woman immediately slapped her without hesitation, showing no mercy. Their voice was cold and devoid of warmth, “Why are you howling like a banshee?”
The woman, after being slapped, immediately turned her head to the side and fell silent. The corner of her mouth quickly swelled up, but she still murmured softly, “I really don’t know, I didn’t do anything.”
Feeling that the previous statement was ineffective, she mustered her courage and said, “Let me tell you, we live in a society governed by the rule of law, and killing someone means paying with your life.”
Lin Ruoyan snorted coldly, “You know what you’ve done. You only need to answer me one question.”
“What?”
“After my brother had the accident, my sister-in-law came to see you once. What did you talk about?”
