My Sister-In-Law Has Impure Intentions (GL) - Chapter 17
One evening, the distance between them seemed to have closed considerably. They suddenly started having dinner at home together more often, and the dining room was no longer cold and quiet. They seemed to be a very harmonious sister-in-law pair.
This particular evening, it wasn’t even dinner time yet, and Xu Jingyi’s yoga session wasn’t over. But Lin Ruoyan rushed home. She was in a hurry; she just gave a quick greeting upon entering and went straight upstairs.
Xu Jingyi frowned and got up from the floor, following Lin Ruoyan upstairs.
Lin Ruoyan was in such a hurry that when Xu Jingyi went up, she found the bedroom door still ajar. This instantly made Xu Jingyi feel nervous too. She didn’t even knock; she just opened the door and walked in.
The carpet’s soundproofing was too good, and Lin Ruoyan hadn’t noticed Xu Jingyi coming up. She was currently facing away from the door, changing clothes. She took off her shirt, and a freshly pulled hoodie from the closet lay on the bed. Her waist was slender, and from behind, faint dimples of Venus were visible. Xu Jingyi also had a good physique, but they were different styles. Lin Ruoyan was leaner, with more defined muscle lines.
“Ruoyan,” Xu Jingyi said, “What happened?”
Lin Ruoyan was about to pull the hoodie over herself when she heard the voice behind her. Startled, she hurried to put on the clothes while trying to hide, even messing up her usually neatly styled hair.
Xu Jingyi simply assumed she was shy, uncomfortable being seen like that by others, and tried to reassure her. “Why are you shy? We’re both women. I have what you have. It’s just looking at your back, don’t panic.”
Lin Ruoyan pursed her lips and said nothing, swallowing her retort. In the end, she only said she wasn’t used to it.
Her clothes were on, and Lin Ruoyan didn’t have time to linger. She didn’t even bother with the clothes she’d taken off, which were still on the bed. She hastily grabbed her phone. “Sister-in-law, I have something to do. I won’t be home for dinner tonight.”
She was in a hurry, and when Xu Jingyi blocked the doorway, Lin Ruoyan instinctively tried to slip past her. But she hadn’t expected Xu Jingyi to suddenly reach out and press her against the doorframe as she tried to pass. Their bodies pressed together. “What’s so urgent? Tell sister-in-law about it.”
Xu Jingyi was still wearing her yoga clothes, her waist curving gracefully. The moment they touched, Lin Ruoyan was stunned. She hadn’t been prepared, and now it was too late to dodge. “It’s a small matter. I can handle it myself.”
Their heights were similar. When Xu Jingyi pressed against her, their bodies were tight. Her chest, compressed by the yoga clothes, was now even more exposed. Lin Ruoyan felt a strong assault on both her vision and touch. She couldn’t take it. She clenched her hands into fists and braced them against Xu Jingyi’s shoulders, intending to push her away.
“A small matter would make you so anxious? And you even came back just to change clothes?” Xu Jingyi narrowed her eyes slightly, subconsciously feeling that something was amiss. Their relationship had been quite good recently; they would keep each other updated on company matters and their personal affairs. That’s why today seemed particularly strange.
“It really is a small matter.” Lin Ruoyan was both anxious and uncomfortable being pressed. She suddenly exerted force with her arm and quickly escaped Xu Jingyi’s hold. “I’m leaving now.”
Her figure quickly disappeared around the stairwell. Xu Jingyi’s frown deepened. She pondered the situation in silence and then went downstairs to get her phone and make a call.
“Has anything happened recently?” she asked, her voice very low and quiet. The person on the other end reported truthfully: “Miss Lin is still investigating. I’m keeping an eye on it. As far as I know, she hasn’t found anything.”
Xu Jingyi’s tightly furrowed brows did not relax. “Anything unusual today?”
The person on the other end paused before saying, “No.”
Xu Jingyi found it difficult to say more. She forced herself to suppress the strange feeling in her heart, gave a few more instructions to keep a close watch, and then hung up.
Lin Ruoyan’s urgency might not be about this matter; it could be company business or something else. Changing into a hoodie probably wasn’t for a formal occasion. She worried for a while, eventually not even eating dinner.
Meanwhile, after leaving the house, Lin Ruoyan got into a car, then switched to another vehicle mid-way before heading to her destination. The destination was an old, dilapidated residential area. Inside one of the apartments, a woman was surrounded. When Lin Ruoyan arrived, the leader of the group stepped forward.
“Miss, this is her.”
The woman was probably terrified; she was cowering on the sofa, and seeing Lin Ruoyan enter made her lower her head and tremble even more.
“Mhm,” Lin Ruoyan said flatly, standing in the room. She looked at the somewhat rundown surroundings and didn’t even want to sit down.
The man who had greeted her mumbled in acknowledgment, then turned, his attitude visibly changed. “Be honest. Answer whatever we ask.”
Lin Ruoyan spoke: “Who put you up to it?”
The woman was stunned, then immediately started screaming and yelling, her voice sharp and piercing. “I don’t know! I don’t know anything! Nobody told me to do anything!”
Lin Ruoyan’s brows furrowed at the noise. The person standing beside the woman, seeing this, immediately slapped her, showing no mercy. His voice was cold and devoid of warmth. “What are you wailing about?”
The woman’s head snapped to the side from the blow, and she instantly fell silent. Her lips quickly swelled, but she still mumbled softly, “I really don’t know. I didn’t do anything.” Then, feeling that her words were ineffective, she bravely said, “I’m telling you, this is a society governed by law. Murder requires a life for a life!”
Lin Ruoyan scoffed. “You know what you did. You just need to answer one question for me.”
“What?”
“After my brother’s accident, my sister-in-law came to see you once. What did you two talk about?”
