My Sister-In-Law Has Impure Intentions (GL) - Chapter 2
They arrived home in silence. Lin Ruoyan got out of the car first, hurrying to Xu Jingyi’s side before Ah Wu. She opened the car door and extended her arm to Xu Jingyi.
“Sister-in-law, slowly now, I’ll help you.” Her tone was polite but cold, a cool, detached chivalry.
Xu Jingyi didn’t demur, placing her hand on Lin Ruoyan’s wrist and letting herself be helped out of the car.
Xu Jingyi’s palm was icy cold against Lin Ruoyan’s warm arm. The significant temperature difference surprised both of them. Lin Ruoyan placed her other hand over Xu Jingyi’s, warming her hand. “Sister-in-law, your hands are so cold. You really need more rest.”
She didn’t seem to find the action ambiguous; her expression showed a touch more concern than before.
As soon as she was out of the car, Xu Jingyi released her hand, pulling it away from Lin Ruoyan’s, and stood upright, her figure graceful. “Thank you for being so thoughtful, Ruoyan. My cold hands and feet are an old problem. Ruofeng found many traditional Chinese medicine doctors to treat me, but it didn’t do much good. It’s nothing serious.” She paused, then continued, “Ruoyan, you must be 25 this year, right? I wonder who will be lucky enough to marry you in the future.”
Lin Ruoyan’s expression remained unchanged. She also withdrew her arm, adjusting her cuff as she spoke, “I’ll be 26 in two months. There’s no rush for marriage. Brother just passed away, and Mom and Dad are also gone. There are still many things to take care of.”
These two calm sentences contained a lot of unspoken information. Both understood each other’s hidden meaning: one wanted to marry off her sister-in-law, while the other wanted to take over her brother’s business.
Their conversation paused for a moment. The drizzle seemed to intensify, as if on cue. The black suit jackets became damp, and the blowing wind carried a slight chill.
Ah Wu stood by, listening to their conversation, feeling the atmosphere between them shift from harmonious to tense.
“Madam, Miss,” he interjected, breaking the silent tension between them. “The rain is heavy outside; let’s go in?”
He had driven the car into the courtyard, originally to get them inside quickly, but he hadn’t expected them to stand outside in the rain.
“Let’s go,” Lin Ruoyan said first. “Sister-in-law isn’t in good health, and these details require special attention.” She then looked at Ah Wu. “Ah Wu, in the future, pay special attention to the madam’s warmth. There can be no negligence, understood?”
“Yes, Miss,” Ah Wu replied.
Her words carried the tone of a household head, as if she had naturally taken over Lin Ruofeng’s authority and become the rightful mistress of the house.
Xu Jingyi pursed her lips and said, “Thank you for your concern, Ruoyan, but my body has been like this for many years. At most, it’s just cold hands and feet; there’s nothing else really.”
After speaking, she walked towards the house. “It’s raining, and it is a bit cool. Ruoyan, you should also focus on keeping warm.”
Lin Ruoyan followed behind her, listening to her speak. Perhaps because she had just lost her husband, she seemed less assertive than before, and even her speech had become much softer.
“Oh, right,” Xu Jingyi stopped at the door, waiting for Ah Wu to open it, as if she had just remembered something. “Ah Wu, you should stay with Ruoyan these days to help take care of her.”
Ah Wu frowned. The young lady wanted him to take care of the madam, and the madam wanted him to follow the young lady. Who should he follow?
“Yes, Madam,” he replied. Regardless of who he followed, he would agree for now and sort it out later.
The door opened, and Xu Jingyi stepped inside first, casually tossing her coat onto the sofa. The black dress underneath clung to her curves, revealing her graceful figure to Lin Ruoyan’s gaze.
“Ruoyan, your room has been cleaned. You should get some good rest. I’m going to rest now too.”
“Okay, sister-in-law, get good rest.”
With that, she ascended the stairs. The S-shaped waistline and perky buttocks were particularly accentuated by the dress, appearing especially alluring. Each step up the stairs was a beautiful sight, like lotuses blooming with every step.
Lin Ruoyan followed behind her, watching for a few moments before deliberately falling back two steps, her eyes lowered, averting her gaze from the beautiful sight.
