The two reached an agreement, and the subsequent meetings were very efficient. Xu Jingyi took the position of chairman, while Lin Ruoyan became the President of the corporation, overseeing all group affairs.
Xu Jingyi only attended board meetings and would not be present at the company at other times.
By the time the meeting reached mid-afternoon, Xu Jingyi left, leaving the remaining wrap-up tasks entirely to Lin Ruoyan.
Xu Jingyi wasn’t worried about Lin Ruoyan not doing well. After leaving, she went straight to a wellness spa. She had been working hard lately and looked quite haggard today; it was essential for her to come in for some pampering.
This SPA has a Chinese style, with a courtyard at the entrance, pavilions and water pavilions creating a beautiful environment. Inside, there is a five-story villa. As soon as she entered, someone came up to greet her, gesturing to guide her while saying, “Madam Lin, please follow me.”
This address made her frown slightly, but her expression returned to normal quickly, almost unnoticed by anyone. She nodded at the receptionist and followed her.
She was taken to a private room, and as usual, a therapist came to serve her. After the initial work was done and the therapist left, she was resting with her eyes closed when the door was gently opened, and the owner of the spa came in.
“Madam, you’re here.” The newcomer was also a woman, slightly older than Xu Jingyi, dressed in a fitted qipao, with her hair styled up, perfectly matching the shop’s aesthetic.
“Mm.” Xu Jingyi let out a soft hum, “Chu Yao, is there anything going on lately?”
The woman referred to as Chu Yao stood respectfully to the side and, upon hearing Xu Jingyi’s question, replied, “Madam, there are a few minor issues, but I’ve already handled them. There shouldn’t be any problems for now.”
Xu Jingyi didn’t react much after hearing this, she slightly parted her lips and said, “Hmm, the timing is quite sensitive recently, keep a closer watch and don’t let anything go wrong.”
Chu Yao nodded and respectfully said, “Madam had instructed me before, and I have kept it in mind. Madam, please rest assured, there won’t be any problems.”
Xu Jingyi nodded again and said, “If there’s nothing else, you can go out first and call Ah Qing back.” Ah Qing is a therapist.
Chu Yao thought for a moment, bit her lip, and said, “Please accept my condolences regarding Mr. Lin’s passing.”
“Understood.” Xu Jingyi probably guessed that the other party would say this. The people she managed didn’t attend Lin Ruofeng’s funeral to avoid suspicion. “Chu Yao, don’t think too much about it. The way we did business before is how we’ll continue to do it in the future.”
Chu Yao was just about to ask this, and Xu Jingyi understood, directly giving a clear answer. She didn’t say anything more, “Then, Madam, please continue. I’ll call Ah Qing in.”
Xu Jingyi nodded, and Chu Yao went out. She was the point of contact, and once she shared this information, everyone else would know what to do.
After that, there was nothing much to do. Xu Jingyi finished her skincare routine and then went out for a meal.
In the past, Lin Ruofeng would always accompany her, so eating alone always felt a bit bland. Overall, her mood wasn’t high, and she just ate casually before heading home.
Lin Ruofeng’s sudden arrival was unexpected. She had been busy earlier, so she wasn’t used to living alone. Although there was an assistant with her, she always felt an emptiness in her heart, uncomfortable, but couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong.
When she got home, Lin Ruoyan was already back, sitting at the dining table. The dishes were neatly arranged on the table, but she hadn’t touched her chopsticks yet. Instead, she was typing away on her computer, looking like she was… waiting for her.
Before she had even changed her shoes, Lin Ruoyan closed her laptop and said, “Sister-in-law, you’re back? I just finished my work and haven’t eaten yet. Have you eaten, sister-in-law? Shall we eat together?”
There were two sets of chopsticks and bowls on the table, clearly waiting for her, but what she said didn’t match. It wasn’t a clever excuse, but it worked.
Xu Jingyi walked over, sat down at the other set of chopsticks, and picked up the chopsticks. “I haven’t eaten yet either, let’s eat together.”
“Okay, sister-in-law, please.” Polite and courteous, but distant.
The two had just gone through the events of the morning, and since Lin Ruoyan was not a talkative person to begin with, and Xu Jingyi was also a bit tired, the atmosphere was naturally not warm. They quietly ate their meal, with only the occasional sound of chopsticks and bowls clinking in the entire living room.
Xu Jingyi had already eaten, so now she just had a symbolic bite and finished quickly.
After finishing the meal, Xu Jingyi was about to head back to her room when Lin Ruoyan called her, “Sister-in-law, there’s something I want to discuss with you.”
“What is it?”When Lin Ruoyan called her to eat just now, she guessed that she had something to say, but she didn’t expect her to take so long to speak up.
Lin Ruoyan cleared her throat, “Since sister-in-law requested that I stay at home, I only had a bedroom before and no study. Which room would you prefer to let me use as a study for a year?”
Xu Jingyi was taken aback; she hadn’t expected this matter. This is actually a very small matter. This place is not only her and Lin Ruofeng’s home, but also Lin Ruoyan’s home. It’s just that the latter is rarely at home and only stays temporarily, which is why there is only a bedroom, and the bedroom is right next to her room.
If she wanted, she could easily have the housekeeper prepare a room for her, but she insisted on asking her first. It shows Lin Ruoyan’s attitude towards her.
She thought for a moment and said, “If Ruoyan thinks one of the rooms is convenient, just use it directly. This is also your home, no need to be so formal.”
“Then thank you, sister-in-law.” Lin Ruoyan didn’t comment on her last sentence, just simply thanked her, “Sister-in-law, get some rest early.”
After that, the two of them returned to their own rooms, and there was no more conversation for the rest of the night.
