My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 13: The Player ID and the Gate
Episode 13: The Player ID and the Gate
“Thank you for waiting. Here is your Player ID.”
“Thank you very much.”
Receiving the Player ID, Rindou gazed at it with deep emotion. After a moment, Aoba spoke up.
“Please be careful not to lose your Player ID.”
“Of course, but is there a particular reason?”
“Rarely, some people forge Player IDs for malicious purposes.”
Upon hearing the details, Rindou learned that the Player ID was equipped with anti-counterfeiting measures. However, Aoba explained that there were individuals who bypassed these safeguards and misused them.
“I’ve heard that the anti-counterfeiting measures used in Player IDs are on par with those in passports. But it’s not completely foolproof.”
“Japan’s technology is said to be advanced, but yes, nothing is truly absolute.”
“That’s correct. The high level of Japan’s anti-counterfeiting measures ironically makes it harder to detect when a forgery does occur.”
While the advanced measures were a positive feature, they had also become a tool for misuse. Aoba elaborated further.
“So, Amachi-sama, please. Absolutely, absolutely take care not to lose it.”
“Y-you’re really emphasizing this… I understand. I’ll be careful.”
“Alright, then moving on—do you have some time now?”
When Rindou tilted his head, wondering what else there could be, Aoba smiled and explained.
“We guide new players like yourself to a one star gate.”
“A one star gate? Has one appeared again?”
“No, it’s different. This gate is managed by the Player Association.”
“Managed by the Association? I think I’ve heard rumors about that.”
Normally, when a gate appears, the recommended course of action is to clear it, destroy the core forming the otherworld, and eliminate the gate. However, there are rare cases where a gate containing valuable resources appears. In such cases, instead of destroying the core, the Association manages the gate to prevent stampedes and focuses on resource collection.
“Some of these gates are not only used for resource gathering but also for training new players.”
“I see. So it’s a way to let players experience the inside of a gate.”
“That’s not all, but you’re mostly correct. Since you already have some combat experience with monsters, Amachi-sama, I could guide you to another gate. What would you prefer?”
“I’ll choose the gate for new players.”
Without hesitation, Rindou selected the gate for new players.
“Are you sure? Most players argue to go to a different gate instead…”
“Really? Well, I think the new player gate suits me. I have something I want to test.”
“Something you want to test?”
Rindou hadn’t yet fully examined his [Gacha] skill. He found that the Association-managed gate, known for its safety, was more convenient than a potentially unpredictable gate. However, he also knew better than to divulge too much about his skill.
“I’d like to see how far I can fight using only [Basic Swordsmanship] and test my limits as a new player.”
For this reason, Rindou had only listed [Basic Swordsmanship] in the skills section of his player registration form.
“That makes sense. If you go beyond your limits and tackle a gate recklessly, you never know when you might falter.”
“Exactly.”
“Understood. Then, please take this and proceed to the designated location.”
Aoba handed him an authorization document. It was stamped with the Player Association’s seal and a map showing the gate’s location.
“This is…..… the warehouse district near the port?”
“This warehouse district is managed by the Association. One of the warehouses contains the gate for new players.”
“Is that so? I had no idea.”
Though many players had likely visited this location, Rindou found it puzzling that he had never heard anything about it. There was, however, a simple reason for that.
“As I mentioned earlier, most new players refuse to go to such a place. They are saying that there’s no need for them to. And the ones who do agree to go are usually quite serious individuals. When we ask them to keep it a secret, they tend to respect that and don’t talk about it.”
“I see, so that’s how it is.”
The structure was clear: serious players followed the Association’s instructions and kept the location confidential. While less serious ones refused to go to the new player gate. This situation left most people unaware of its existence altogether.
“Even if the secret gets out, you can’t enter without the authorization document bearing the Association’s seal. So I doubt it would cause any issues. Still, avoiding problems is always better. So I’d appreciate it if you kept this quiet as well, Amachi-sama.”
“I won’t say anything, don’t worry.”
“Thank you very much. Well then, take care and good luck!”
“Thank you, I’ll be on my way.”
With that, Rindou left the Player Association and headed straight for the new player gate located at the port.
