My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 14: The First Gate
Episode 14: The First Gate
Upon arriving at the port.
Rindou made his way to the warehouse number seven, as indicated on the map.
Standing at the entrance of the warehouse was a young male guard. When he spotted Rindou, he glared at him sharply.
“What business do you have here?”
“I’m Rindou Amachi, a new player. I’m here to enter the gate for new players. Here’s my authorization.”
Rindou handed over the authorization document. The guard was surprised and proceeded to check it. Upon confirming it was genuine, his expression changed into a smile.
“…Yep, there’s no mistake. My apologies for the earlier rudeness.”
“Don’t worry about it. I heard from Yanase-san that not many players come here, so it’s fine.”
When Rindou said this, the guard nodded with a wry smile.
“That’s right. Actually, when no new players come, the monsters inside the gate increase in number. So we’ve been hunting them regularly.”
The guard grumbled about having to do more than just guard duty. Inside the gate, there was a territory of monsters. And if their numbers weren’t reduced, they would continue to grow. Since it was advertised as a gate for new players, it was crucial that the environment remained suitable for them to fight. If it was left unmanageable, it could be deemed an area to be cleared instead.
The Association had gone to the trouble of setting up this gate for new players. Because of that, Rindou decided he would try to eliminate as many monsters as possible. It was all for the sake of future players who would register.
“So, what’s the current situation?”
“We hunt them once a week. And tomorrow marks the end of a week.”
“So, that means there are likely more monsters today?”
“Exactly. If you’re worried, I can accompany you. What do you think?”
It might have been better for Rindou to have someone with him to survive. However, he needed to test his [Gacha] skill. And it would be better to have as few people around as possible.
“…No, it’s fine.”
“I see. But if you think it’s dangerous, don’t hesitate to back off, alright?”
“Understood, thank you.”
Despite the guard’s concern, Rindou proceeded toward warehouse number seven. As he stepped inside, the dimly lit warehouse stretched out before him. In the center stood a large, otherworldly gate.
“…………So this is a gate?”
“Even though it’s a single-star gate, the monsters here are all dangerous. Be careful.”
Seeing Rindou tense up in front of the gate, the guard spoke up. But Rindou wasn’t nervous. Standing in front of the gate, he felt a deep sense of emotion. He realized that he was truly a player now.
“…I’m fine. I’ll go now.”
“Alright, go ahead.”
When Rindou touched the gate, it made a loud noise as it opened. Inside was another world, a place where the common rules of Earth didn’t apply.
How far could he go with his current abilities? What could he do with [Gacha]? And how much stronger could he get?
Those were his main questions. His heart was racing in anticipation.
Inside the gate, blue and white streaks swirled around. It was said that stepping into them would transport one to another world. While he knew it was true, for Rindou, this was an unknown experience. It was the first time he truly felt nervous standing before the gate.
(…Alright, let’s go!)
Rindou gathered his courage, stepped forward, and touched the swirling vortex.
The moment he did, he felt a sensation of being pulled in. And the next moment, an entirely different scene unfolded before him.
“………….What is this place?”
He had entered the gate from the warehouse. Yet in front of him was a vast, clear blue sky and a sprawling grassland. The air felt fresh, and Rindou couldn’t help but question whether this really was the otherworld filled with monsters.
“Is this really another world? Honestly, I’d believe it more if someone told me this was just some pristine natural place on Earth……”
Just as Rindou was thinking that, a voice filled with a sense of malice interrupted his thoughts.
“…A Goblin?”
“Gi-gyah-gyah-gyah!”
A Goblin wielding a rusty knife lunged at him. But in an instant, Rindou’s body moved. He drew his Gale Blade and cleaved the Goblin in two.
“…Phew. Looks like there are no other monsters around.”
After finishing the battle, Rindou sheathed his blade. And the [Gacha] skill activated.
[Skill [Gacha] activated due to monster defeat.]
(Alright, let’s see what I get.)
Just as he thought this, an unexpected window popped up.
[You have drawn a [Miss] in the gacha.]
“…Huh?”
Rindou was left dumbfounded by the result.
