My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 18: Scolding and Progress
Episode 18: Scolding and Progress
“Eight hours inside the gate? Are you out of your mind?!”
“I’m… I’m truly sorry!”
As the male guard yelled, Rindou bowed his head deeply in apology. He genuinely reflected on his actions. He realized that spending so much time inside the gate just for gacha spins and skill proficiency was excessive.
Seeing Rindou bow so earnestly, the guard let out a long, heavy sigh. He decided not to scold him further.
“Haaaaah… Well, at least you’re safe.”
“I truly apologize for causing you worry.”
“No, I might have gone overboard with the yelling.”
“But that’s because you were concerned about me, right? Thank you for that.”
Since losing his parents, the only person who had truly worried about him was Kyouka. Receiving concern from others, even strangers, warmed Rindou’s heart. And he found himself thanking the guard naturally.
“By the way… may I ask your name?”
“Ah, I suppose we haven’t introduced ourselves yet. I’m Kyousuke Yada, an Association employee and a guard here.”
“I’m Rindou Amachi.”
After exchanging introductions and shaking hands, Kyousuke continued,
“So, if you made it out alive, I assume you got some good results?”
Given the abundance of monsters and Rindou’s extended time hunting them, Kyousuke was naturally curious about his progress. Rindou was feeling confident in his achievements. He grinned and nodded.
“I managed to try out a lot of things. And the results were fantastic.”
“That’s great to hear. You’ve been hunting monsters, so we probably won’t have any issues for another week,”
Kyousuke chuckled, relieved that Rindou’s efforts eased his workload.
“Yada-san, is this gate a one-time entry thing?”
“No, not at all. As long as you have a permit from the Association, you can enter as many times as you like… though most people don’t.”
Kyousuke explained that most beginner players avoided this gate. They preferred to tackle one star gates where they could attempt completion and acquire stronger gear.
“This gate is off-limits for completion. Even for one-star gates, the rewards for clearing it are powerful. Naturally, beginner players flock to those gates to strengthen themselves quickly.”
“I see.”
“Honestly, I think you should focus on those other gates too, rather than sticking to this one.”
While that might be sound advice for the average player, Rindou had his reasons. To accomplish his goals without interference, the beginner players’ gate was the better option.
“I actually want to come back here. Is it okay if I return tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow? But didn’t you already take down quite a few monsters?”
Kyousuke was surprised that Rindou wanted to revisit the gate so soon.
“There are still unexplored areas. And I want to gain more combat experience with the monsters here.”
Kyousuke scratched his head. He was surprised but also understanding.
“Well, for me, it’s convenient to have you take care of the monsters. But are you sure this gate is what you want?”
“Yes, this is the gate for me.”
Seeing Rindou’s unwavering determination, Kyousuke chuckled and conceded.
“This gate is indeed vast, with plenty of monsters to fight. That’s why it’s designated as a beginner players’ gate, off-limits for completion.”
“My skill is [Basic Swordsmanship]. So rushing into other gates would probably just get me killed. Until I truly master my swordsmanship, I want to focus on honing my skills here.”
“Ah, that makes sense. With that kind of approach, I can’t argue. Although, knowing your progress, you’ll probably outgrow this gate soon enough. When that happens, I guess it’ll be back to us guards taking care of the monsters again.”
“Ahaha, that might be the case. Well then, see you tomorrow!”
“Alright, be careful on your way home.”
After parting with Kyousuke, Rindou headed to the hospital where Kyouka was admitted. At the security post near the entrance, he found Ittetsu waiting for him as usual. Rindou handed over his Gale Sword for safekeeping.
“I’m sorry for the hassle every time you visit.”
“Ah, it’s just the rules. Nothing we can do about it.”
“You come to visit your sister almost every day, Rindou-kun. Would you like to apply for a weapon-carrying permit?”
Ittetsu casually posed the question. It prompted Rindou to look up in surprise.
“Wait……. there’s such a thing?”
“Yeah, for players, there is. That said, it can take some time for the application to be approved. Until then, you’d still have to leave your weapon here like you’re doing now.”
“Even so, if it means I could see my sister faster once it’s approved, I’d like to give it a shot. If that’s alright.”
“Of course! Hang on for a second.”
When Rindou expressed his desire to apply, Ittetsu disappeared into the security room. Moments later, he returned with a form in hand.
“Here, fill this out with the necessary information. I’ll take care of the rest.”
“Really? You’d do that?”
“Yeah, I’m kind of a big deal around here. I can process this stuff pretty quickly,”
Ittetsu said with a broad, confident grin.
Rindou chuckled at his boastful attitude and began filling out the form.
“…Alright, I’m done.”
“Let me see…….. Yep, looks good. I’ll hold onto your weapon for now. But once the application’s approved, I’ll let you know when you stop by the post.”
“Thank you so much. Well then, I’m off to see my sister.”
“Go on! Don’t keep her waiting!”
With Ittetsu’s cheerful send-off, Rindou hurried toward Kyouka’s hospital room.
