My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 36: The Southern Swamp
Episode 36: The Southern Swamp
Rindou entered the gate designated for new players together with Kyousuke. They decided to head towards the southern swamp.
The reason was simple: when the Association staff went monster hunting, Kyousuke was assigned to the northern volcano.
“I know you have no choice but to trust me, but I did do the monster hunting properly.”
“I trust you.”.
Just as Rindou responded, a monster suddenly appeared.
“That was fast. We might have to assume that the swamp monsters haven’t been properly hunted either.”
“Should I handle the combat?”
“Of course. But be careful, okay? There are a lot of them.”
As Rindou said this, Kyousuke nodded. He urged caution.
“Don’t worry. I’ve never seen these monsters before, but I know their characteristics!”
A loud, eerie cry echoed.
The monster that appeared was a giant snake-like creature with purple skin. It was known as the Poison Snake.
It had sharp fangs that carried a potent poison. And if bitten, someone without resistance would initially feel numbness or dizziness. After about an hour, they would be unable to move and would become the monster’s prey.
One or two of these monsters could be defeated by even a new player, as their bites didn’t immediately result in death. If the proper antidotes were prepared, the situation could be handled. However, the number of Poison Snakes that appeared before Rindou was clearly far too many for a new player to deal with alone.
(At a glance, there are at least two dozen of them. If they all bite at once, this could get really dangerous, right?)
When facing Poison Snakes, the most dangerous aspect was their venomous fangs.
The Poison Snakes wriggled their bodies. They always try to face their enemies directly. It’s said that they rarely attack unless the enemy stops moving. Since they struggle to aim their bites.
(It seems like the theory that they can’t aim properly is true.)
Without stopping, Rindou continued to move. He was shifting left and right. The Poison Snakes also swayed their heads, trying to face him. But they didn’t make any attacking moves.
Seizing the right moment, Rindou advanced and swung his Gale Sword. Several Poison Snakes were sliced in one strike and fell to the ground.
“…Incredible, Rindou-kun,”
Kyousuke muttered, watching Rindou’s performance.
Not only was Rindou’s composure in combat impressive—being able to keep moving without hesitation in the face of so many monsters—but his preparation was also highly commendable. As he had studied the monsters beforehand.
What stood out most was how well he applied his knowledge. It was making him a better player overall.
“If there were more new players like him, Japan’s future would look bright.”
Since the battle started, Kyousuke had kept a vigilant stance. His right hand was still gripping the hilt of his sword at his waist. And he was always on the lookout. Fortunately, there were no signs of other monsters approaching. He was ready to step in if Rindou found himself in trouble.
However, Kyousuke’s worries turned out to be unfounded.
“…Phew, it’s over.”
There must have been at least twenty Poison Snakes. But Rindou had taken care of them all on his own.
(Still, what’s up with this? It feels like my body is moving even better than yesterday?)
After finishing the battle with the Poison Snakes, Rindou noticed that his body was moving more smoothly than it had the day before.
He stretched his shoulders. And just then, Kyousuke called out.
“You’re really incredible, Rindou-kun.”
“Thanks…… Actually, I have something to ask of you, Kyousuke.”
After thanking Kyousuke for his honest compliment, Rindou decided to bring up the issue that had been on his mind since they started working together.
“What is it? If it’s about the luggage, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“It’s not that… well, it’s part of it, but it’s about my skill.”
“Your skill, Rindou-kun? Isn’t it [Basic Swordsmanship]?”
Kyousuke thought Rindou’s skill was [Basic Swordsmanship], since that was what was registered with the Player Association.
“………….Actually, my skill is not [Basic Swordsmanship].”
“Wait, you didn’t file a false report, did you?”
“No, I did have [Basic Swordsmanship]!”
“If that’s the case… Wait, could it be that you have multiple skills?”
Kyousuke was surprised. He exclaimed, and Rindou nodded.
However, Rindou knew that Kyousuke’s surprise wouldn’t stop there.
“My real skill is….. [Gacha].”
“…[Gacha]?”
“Well, just watch.”
Kyousuke was confused upon hearing the word “Gacha”. But Rindou said that, thinking it would be easier for him to see it.
As Kyousuke wondered what he was supposed to be looking at, a magic circle appeared in front of them. It signaled the activation of the [Gacha].
“W-What is this?”
While Kyousuke was growing more and more confused, Rindou was calmly watching the [Gacha] results that appeared in the window.
[25 gacha draws: You have acquired [Detox Potions] x5 and [Poison Fang Dagger].]
Then, as the items from the [Gacha] came out of the magic circle, Kyousuke blinked rapidly. His mouth was agape. And he looked at Rindou in shock.
“……What… is this?”
“This is my skill: [Gacha].”
“…Haha, this is an incredibly unconventional skill, isn’t it?”
“Though, this is just a small part of the benefits I can get from the skill.”
“Just a small part!? …What is going on? Am I dreaming?”
After hearing Rindou’s explanation, Kyousuke didn’t know how to react. He could only stand there, stunned.
