My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 4: Skill [Gacha]
Episode 4: Skill [Gacha]
“…Wh-what just happened?”
Even as Rindou struggled to make sense of the situation, the messages in the translucent window continued to change.
[This is your first-time bonus gacha. You will acquire the skills of the defeated monster.]
“…A-acquire the skills of the monster?”
Suddenly, a rainbow-colored magic circle appeared before him. As light of the same color floated upward, it rained down on Rindou.
“…W-what is this? This power… it’s surging through me?”
He felt strength coursing through his arm, the one holding his broken sword. Naturally, his gaze shifted to the weapon. As another message surfaced, he lifted his head once more.
[You have acquired the Ghost Knight’s skill: [Basic Swordsmanship].]
“…B-Basic Swordsmanship?!”
Initially unable to grasp what had just occurred, Rindou was stunned upon realizing he had acquired the combat skill [Basic Swordsmanship].
Driven by disbelief, he assumed a stance with the broken sword. Whether it was due to the skill’s influence or not, he could vividly understand how to hold and swing the sword in his mind.
“……..Amazing. So this is a skill? This is what it means to be a player!”
At last, he began to understand the significance of the window that had appeared earlier.
“Defeating the monster awakened me as a player. And the skill I was granted is [Gacha]!”
Typically, players have only one skill. And those possessing two or more are considered extremely rare.
“But if I have both [Gacha] and [Basic Swordsmanship]…….. then this must be the effect of the [Gacha] skill?”
It’s common to feel clueless right after obtaining a skill. This was especially true for Rindou. He had never even heard of a skill like [Gacha], despite being an avid player enthusiast and collector of knowledge about players.
“…….…I think I can check the details of a skill from the status window, right?”
Now that he was calming down, Rindou remembered he could view skill details in the status window—but the monsters wouldn’t wait for him.
“…Kihiiii.”
A strange cry echoed, and Rindou regretted spending too much time in thought. Strangely, the fear that had gripped him earlier was gone.
“…A Goblin, huh?”
It was a small humanoid monster with distinctive gray-green skin. Three Goblins emerged from around the corner. Exhaling lightly, Rindou composed himself and raised his sword.
“With the current me, I can do this!”
“Gyahhh!”
The three Goblins rushed at him. They brandished their crude clubs. Rindou focused on the leading Goblin. He lowered his posture and charged forward. The distance between them closed rapidly, bringing both into striking range.
“Gyaaah!”
“Haaah!”
Before the Goblin could swing its club down, Rindou slashed upward with his sword. He severed its right arm. In one fluid motion, he struck again, decapitating the Goblin. His body moved with surprising smoothness. It left him stunned.
However, his surprise lasted only a moment. The two remaining Goblins were driven by rage. They charged at him, wildly swinging their clubs.
If it had been the old Rindou, he might have frozen at the sight of the first Goblin and ended up with his skull crushed. But as a newly awakened player, Rindou calmly assessed their movements and countered. With just two swings of his broken sword, he defeated the remaining Goblins.
“…Incredible. This [Basic Swordsmanship] skill is amazing.”
Though amazed at how easily he defeated the Goblins, Rindou’s surprise grew further as another extraordinary scene unfolded before him.
[Skill [Gacha] activates upon monster defeat.]
“…Huh? A-again?”
Rindou couldn’t hide his confusion at the repeated activation of the [Gacha] skill.
“Could it be… that I’ll gain another skill—”
[From three gacha rolls, you have acquired: [Basic Potion].]
“………A Basic Potion?”
Expecting another skill, Rindou was bewildered when all he received was a Basic Potion—a common item available for purchase anywhere. To make matters worse, despite three Gacha rolls, only one potion had emerged from the magic circle. It further deepened Rindou’s confusion.
“This is no good………. there are too many unknowns.”
Though he wanted to experiment with the [Gacha] skill further, there was no time for it now.
——OOOOooooonnnnnnnnn!
The roar of monsters echoed through the air, signaling that the stampede was still raging. And the situation remained dire.
“…I’m a player now too. Saving lives comes first.”
The only weapon he had was his broken sword. He wasn’t sure how much he could do with it. But he resolved that saving lives was within his power.
“I’ll do what I can. Testing the skill comes later.”
With that, Rindou turned back toward the way he came and sprinted toward the main street.
