Rindou hadn’t anticipated this unexpected throw.

The Eldias Kong was thrashing around wildly. Its arm movements were erratic and chaotic. Yet, against all odds, the throw had hit its mark—striking the exact tip of the right pinky finger. It was the only spot on its massive body where it had been injured.

“Kyousuke…?” 

“That much is easy.”

Rindou called out Kyousuke’s name in astonishment. But his reply was as nonchalant as if it were only natural. It was a feat that Rindou, despite his extensive knowledge, could never hope to replicate. Even for other players, landing such a precise throw without specialized skills in throwing or accuracy would be nearly impossible. It was a testament to Kyousuke’s battle experience.

“GRRRRRAAAAAHHH!!”

However, even with the poisoned dagger embedded in the pinky wound, the Eldias Kong was far from defeated. The pain coursing through its body was intense. But it wasn’t a fatal blow. If anything, the Kong’s fury intensified. It was radiating a deadly killing intent aimed squarely at Rindou and Kyousuke.

“Kyousuke, the aggro should shift to you a bit—be careful!” 

“Of course! You be careful too, Rindou-kun!” 

“GRRRRRAAAAAHHH!!”

The enraged Eldias Kong charged at Rindou, who was closest. The plan was working so far. Rindou was considering how to land a decisive strike with the remaining poisoned dagger either he or Kyousuke carried. Targeting the pinky again was unlikely; the Kong was now on high alert. That left the eyes or creating a new vulnerable spot.

(If I can counterattack in a way similar to how the pinky was severed…)

The Eldias Kong switched tactics. It was attacking with fists covered in dense body hair. It was protecting its vulnerable fingertips. It had realized the thinly-haired fingers were a weakness, so it now used its body hair as a shield during attacks.

“Not going to show any more openings, huh?”

This left Rindou without a clear way to strike. He lacked a method to pierce the thick hair and create another wound. For now, he dodged and parried the Kong’s relentless punches. He was buying time but with no breakthrough in sight.

“OOO-HO-HO-HO!”

The Eldias Kong let out a triumphant laugh. As if it was confident that as long as it showed no weaknesses, victory was assured.

“That laugh… it pisses me off!”

Rindou refused to let up. He aimed his strikes at its open mouth, transitioning fluidly to target its eyes if the initial attack failed. Any time he spotted an area with thinner hair, he adjusted the trajectory of his rapid strikes to exploit it.

“Ooo-hoh? GRRRRRAAAAAHHHH!!”

The Eldias Kong’s laughter turned to roars of frustration. It was seemingly irritated by Rindou’s relentless persistence.

“HAAAAHHH!!”

At that moment, Kyousuke struck.

The Kong’s right hand was injured and weakened by the poisoned dagger in its pinky. Its grip had slackened. Seizing the opportunity, Kyousuke swung his blade with precision. He drove the hilt of the poisoned dagger deeper into the wound.

“BWOOOOAAAAAAHHHH!?”

Rindou couldn’t hide his shock.

“No way!”

“The poison should slow its movements soon. Be ready, Rindou—” 

“Kyousuke!” 

——BOOM!

“Ugh!?”

The poisoned dagger had done its job. It was digging deeply into the Kong’s pinky wound. But the enraged Kong shifted its focus entirely to Kyousuke. Forgetting its pain, it swung its arm at blinding speed. Kyousuke was caught off guard. He took the lariat-like blow head-on. He was sent flying, crashing into the ground before slamming into a rock wall and falling still.

“Kyousuke!!”

Rindou’s voice trembled, but there was no response. His anger surged as he glared at the Eldias Kong.

“……W-Why!?”

Suddenly, Rindou froze in shock.

“BWOOOOAAAAHHHH!?”

The Eldias Kong let out a bizarre cry of pain. The source wasn’t the poisoned dagger embedded in its pinky. Instead, a second poisoned dagger was lodged in its left arm.

“That idiot Kyousuke… he pulled a crazy stunt!”

It dawned on Rindou that Kyousuke had intentionally used the Kong’s own attack. By doing so, he forcefully embedded the second poisoned dagger into its left arm at great personal risk.
