My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 59: Reassessment
Episode 59: Reassessment
“I’m not sure if this will be considered an apology, but I would like to reassess Player Amachi’s rank. What do you think?”
“A reassessment? And why is that?”
Even though He was ranked E, he was still a player.
Rindou didn’t particularly find it troublesome. He thought that if he continued to work steadily, he would naturally raise his rank. But apparently, only Rindou thought that way.
“It’s unreasonable to keep you at E-rank with your abilities.”
“I heard about the situation from Kyousuke-san… but, Rindou-san. I’m pretty sure you’re not just a low-level swordsman, are you?”
At Ayane’s words, Rindou was at a loss for how to respond.
From what had been said earlier, it seemed that Kyousuke had managed to skillfully cover up Rindou’s [Gacha] skill while explaining the situation. Rindou couldn’t help but feel grateful.
“[Intermediate Swordsmanship]… or perhaps [Advanced Swordsmanship], is that possible?”
“However, that doesn’t explain why you would downgrade your rank. If you lie to lower your rank, it could cause trouble for other players… So what’s the deal, Player Amachi?”
As Kenji said, there had been stories of players who faked higher-level skills. They were then invited to high-level parties, causing trouble for others.
However, if Rindou had faked their rank, it would have been a downgrade. And there would be little benefit to doing so.
Ayane and Kenji’s eyes were focused on Rindou, waiting for his answer.
“…I didn’t want to stand out. That’s all.”
“…Huh?”
“Is that really all there is to it?”
“Yes, that’s it.”
Half of it was true.
Rindou’s goal was partly to earn living expenses. But the bigger goal was to obtain an Elixir.
By ranking up and getting invited to higher-level parties, he might get closer to obtaining an Elixir. But those didn’t drop often.
And in most cases, they would become party property. And Rindou believed it was hard to use them individually.
So, Rindou didn’t want to stand out and risk being invited to parties, or cause unnecessary conflicts if he rejected such invitations. He didn’t want to attract attention.
“…Well, I ended up standing out this time. So that wish is no longer possible.”
Rindou shrugged at the end. He was trying to make light of the situation and wrap up the conversation.
“Hmm, well, if that’s the case, I can accept it.”
“You’re accepting it, Branch Manager?”
“Everyone has their own way of thinking. But, I heard from Player Yada that you’re seeking an Elixir, right? Since your wish to not stand out has been compromised, wouldn’t it be better to aim for a higher rank and go through a reassessment?”
Rindou glanced at Kyousuke. He was wondering if he had mentioned the Elixir. And he saw him signaling an apology. Rindou let out a wry smile in return.
“…Alright, but please keep it as confidential as possible.”
“So you still don’t want to stand out here?”
“Yes. The Elixir is a precious item. And even if I join a party and manage to get one, I don’t want to fight over its use.”
Kenji sensed that Rindou’s stance hadn’t changed. He nodded in understanding and stood up. He pointed toward another door in the room.
“Understood. Then let’s head over there.”
“Eh!? …Branch Manager, you don’t mean—?”
“Yes, exactly.”
While Ayane wore an expression of reluctance, Kenji grinned as he started walking. Seeing this, Ayane stood up first. Not knowing what the next room was, Rindou and Kyousuke exchanged glances before following after him.
“Come on, step inside.”
Kenji opened the door and said this. Rindou, feeling nervous, stepped into the room.
“…Are you serious?”
“…Eh? Is this… a training hall?”
To Rindou’s surprise, the room next to the branch manager’s office was, in fact, a training hall.
“You’re going to fight me directly here.”
“…Eh? Eeeeehhhh!?!”
Kenji made his statement. He was laughing loudly while cracking his knuckles. It left Rindou utterly shocked.
