My Unique Skill [Gacha] Will Save the World - Episode 6: The Gale Sword
Episode 6: The Gale Sword
“Gyaaain?!”
A Sword Wolf yelped as Rindou hurled the broken sword at it. Moments later, his Gale Sword sliced through the air.
(Fast!)
The blade moved far quicker than Rindou had expected. It cut through the Sword Wolf’s body effortlessly, ignoring its blade-like fur.
“Grr… Grrrooowwwl…”
The remaining three Sword Wolves hesitated. They were once so confident in its fur’s invincibility. But they were visibly unnerved as they watched their comrade fall in two.
“Haaaaah!”
Rindou was just as surprised by the sword’s power. But he didn’t stop moving. Seeing the opening, he seized the chance to launch a relentless offensive.
This split-second decision determined the outcome of the battle.
The Sword Wolves tried to counterattack after Rindou closed the distance. But before one of them could react, its head was severed in a single strike. And the follow-up swing cleaved through its skull.
The two remaining wolves lunged at Rindou from either side. But he spun on the spot, slashing in a wide arc with the Gale Sword. In a flash, both were cut down simultaneously.
“Hah… hah… This sword… It’s incredible.”
Having taken down the Sword Wolves heading toward the hospital, Rindou glanced at the Gale Sword in his hand.
At that moment, another window appeared. It signaled the activation of his [Gacha] skill.
“Well, as expected.”
Though he hadn’t fully tested the skill, so far, it had only been beneficial. Hoping for another favorable result, he watched the window eagerly.
[Special bonus for defeating 10 monsters. You will receive rare items, equipment, or skills obtainable from the defeated monsters.]
“Huh? So it’s not guaranteed to be equipment or skills this time?”
Previously, rare equipment or skills had been guaranteed for the bonus. But now items were also included in the pool.
“Still, if it’s a bonus gacha, it should be rare, right? …….…I hope it’s a skill or equipment, though.”
To thrive as a player, he needed something to make him stronger. Yet, thinking of Kyouka, he hesitated.
(But… if it’s for Kyouka…)
Before he could finish the thought, the gacha concluded. The result appeared on the window.
[You have acquired the rare item: [Advanced Potion].]
“…Advanced, huh.”
An Advanced Potion was a valuable commodity. It was said to be worth hundreds of thousands in the market. But to Rindou, it didn’t seem much different from Basic or Intermediate Potions.
“…Wait! I’ve got to get to the hospital! There might be more monsters!”
Snapping out of his thoughts, Rindou grabbed the Iron Breastplate he’d left on the ground, equipped it, and resumed his sprint toward the hospital.
Fortunately, he encountered no other monsters on the way.
—
When he arrived, a handful of armed guards were stationed at the front entrance. They were likely aware of the stampede. Spotting Rindou, they immediately drew their weapons.
“Stop right there!”
“I-I’m not an enemy! I’m the brother of a patient here!”
“This is an emergency! No one is allowed inside!”
“But my sister! She’s hospitalized here! Please, let me see her in this crisis!”
“No means no! And you’re armed! Even under normal circumstances, you wouldn’t be allowed in!”
Rindou was stunned; he hadn’t expected his newfound status as a player and his weapon to bar him entry.
“W-Wait, please!”
Just then, a frantic voice called out. A hospital staff member hurried toward the commotion at the entrance.
“Th-This person is fine! Let him through!”
“Dr. Ayase!”
Dr. Kanna Ayase was a hospital physician. She rushed over. She awkwardly adjusted her crooked glasses as she explained to the guards.
“Is… is this really okay, Dr. Ayase?”
“Y-yes… He’s the older brother of one of my patients.”
“Understood. But first, please catch your breath.”
“Y-yes… Huff… puff… I’m… sorry… I’m fine now.”
Though Kanna insisted she was fine, her labored breathing made it clear to everyone, including the guards and Rindou. She was definitely struggling.
“I-it’s fine. Rindou-kun is trustworthy.”
“Excuse me. Would you mind holding onto this sword for me?”
While Kanna had permitted him entry, carrying weapons into the hospital was strictly against the rules. Knowing that he was already bending one rule just to see Kyouka, Rindou offered the Gale Sword to the guards. He was unwilling to push his luck further.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. I’ll ask for it again when I leave.”
“Understood. Thank you for cooperating.”
“And this too, please.”
“Hm? A broken sword?”
Before heading to the hospital, Rindou had retrieved not only the Iron Breastplate but also the broken sword he had used against the monsters. While he didn’t know its owner, it might hold sentimental value as a memento.
If left discarded far from the gate where the battle began, it might be lost forever. Rindou felt it would be wrong to abandon it. Even if he had taken it without permission.
“Please take care of it.”
“Well, it’s still a weapon, so we’ll keep it with the other one.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it.”
“Shall we go, Rindou-kun?”
“Yes.”
With that, Rindou followed Kanna toward Kyouka’s hospital room.
