Episode 100: Items from the Gacha

After that, Rindou and the others continued to progress smoothly through the challenge.

Rindou had previously defeated a large number of monsters on the new players’ gate. For him, he was somewhat dissatisfied with the number of monsters in the star-5 gate. However, for Kyousuke and Ayane, they had still defeated quite a few monsters.

“Rindou-kun, you’ve had nothing but irregular experiences since the first gate.”

“Yeah, you awakened as a player during the stampede, right?”

Since Rindou judged that he could handle the monsters alone, he took the initiative and moved forward. Meanwhile, Kyousuke and Ayane were hunting the remaining monsters from a slightly distant location. This plan was made based on a decision by Rindou and Kyousuke, using their sense detection skills. And it was working perfectly.

“Alright, all done.”

As they were talking, Rindou finished off all the monsters he had been fighting.

“Good job, Rindou-kun.”

“Good job!”

“Same to you.”

“So, Rindou-san! How did the gacha go?”

“…Ayane, aren’t you more excited than I am?”

Seeing Ayane immediately ask about the results of the gacha with such excitement, Rindou couldn’t help but smile wryly. But he decided to answer her request.

“No rares. No proficiency boosts either.”

“Ehh~! No way~!”

“Don’t be disappointed, Ayane-san. We still got other items and equipment, right?”

“Yeah, that’s true.”

Kyousuke muttered, sounding a bit exasperated. Then, Rindou showed him what he had obtained.

“…Huh? Isn’t this rare?”

“Intermediate Potions are pretty valuable. And even though the effect is small, there’s also a scroll here.”

A scroll was a type of item that contained magic spells.  

Though it could only be used once, there weren’t many players who could use magic. So scrolls were highly valued in any party.

“It’s an essential item for our party, Rindou-kun!”

“Exactly! Normally, this would be considered a rare item, a rare item!”

While watching Kyousuke and Ayane excitedly, Rindou wore a thoughtful expression.

“………..Could it be that the items and equipment you get change based on the number of stars or the strength of the monsters?”

If Rindou’s hypothesis was correct, simply defeating a large number of weak monsters might not allow him to make the best use of his [Gacha] skill.

“…So, to get better items and equipment, you have to defeat stronger monsters?”

“While [Gacha] is an extraordinary skill, it doesn’t mean you’ll always get special rare items and equipment.”

“Well, I feel a bit relieved. If we were getting amazing items from weak monsters, it would really be too much. We’d start feeling like we’re out of place.”

Ayane scratched her cheek, saying this with a look of relief.

“Well, there’s always the possibility of getting nothing—an unlucky pull. And don’t go treating me like some non-human.”

“I didn’t say you were non-human! …Well, I think you’re getting pretty close to it though~.”

“Alright, alright, you two! There’s a boss monster ahead, so let’s focus up!”

To make sure the mood didn’t get too relaxed, Kyousuke clapped his hands and raised his voice.  

Upon hearing that, Rindou and Ayane immediately adopted serious expressions. They directed their gazes toward the path leading deeper into the area.

“Can you even sense the presence of the boss monster?”

“This boss hasn’t been hiding its presence. Also, if it tried to hide, it would be emitting such a strong presence that it couldn’t even mask it.”

“But I don’t feel the same kind of intimidating aura that I did with Ignacio.”

Kyousuke answered Ayane’s question. But Rindou murmured softly beside them.

“That’s true.”

“In that case, we’ve got this, right?”

“Even so, we can’t let our guard down. Let’s strike together all at once.”

Even if the boss seemed weaker than Ignacio, it was still a boss monster.  

Without confirmation that it was truly weak, they couldn’t afford to relax. As they could be killed in an instant if they were careless.

Rindou chose to strike cautiously, but quickly and safely. He was planning to take it down as efficiently as possible with everyone’s help.

“Alright, let’s go!”

And so, Rindou and the others stepped into the floor where the boss monster awaited. They were ready to tackle the star-5 gate.
