“…Grrrrrrrrrrr…”

The boss monster turned out to be a Kobold Paladin commanding several higher-tier kobolds.

“They’ve got Kobold Rangers, Knights, and even a Magician,” 

“The Magician has already started casting spells. It’s ready to unleash magic at any moment.” 

“I’ll activate my skill.”

Each of them assessed the situation with the boss and took appropriate actions. Rindou and Kyousuke readied their swords and checked their movements. While Ayane activated her [Group Command] skill.

“GROOOOOOAAAAH!!” 

“”””GROOOOOAAAAH!!!””””

Immediately after, the Kobold Paladin let out a loud roar. And the other kobolds rushed in to attack.

The first to strike was a Kobold Magician. 

Fire, water, wind, and earth spells rained down on Rindou and the others.

“Spread out!”

As Rindou shouted, the three of them darted in different directions. Rindou went straight ahead, Kyousuke to the right, and Ayane to the left.

“GURR-GAAAH!!”

The first encounter was with Rindou, who rushed forward.

“Take this!!”

A sharp slash decapitated the Kobold Ranger. But the attack didn’t stop with just one. 

Two more Kobolds lunged at Rindou in quick succession.

“Rindou-san!” 

“I’ve got this! Ayane and Kyousuke, take care of the Kobold Paladin!” 

“We’ll surround it, Ayane-san!”

Rindou quickly deduced that the Kobolds’ strategy was to take them down one by one. 

If he could handle the higher-tier Kobolds himself, Ayane and Kyousuke would be able to create a two-on-one situation against the Kobold Paladin.

“Please, Rindou-san!” 

“Finish it fast, and make sure you don’t die!”

Ayane and Kyousuke accelerated and closed in on the Kobold Paladin. 

Meanwhile, Rindou was surrounded by the Kobold Rangers and Knights. While the Magician from a distance remained poised to cast spells.

“…Come on, you weaklings. Whoever wants to die first, come at me!”

Rindou released a murderous aura. The Kobolds hesitated for a brief moment. 

Without pausing, Rindou dashed forward and cleaved through the nearest Kobold Knight’s armor. 

However, he didn’t stop there and continued charging.

“G-GAAAH!?”

“Out of my way, the Magician is–!”

The first Kobold Knight was simply in Rindou’s path, and was slain in the process. Rindou’s real target was the Kobold Magician. 

The Magician hastily cast a spell. But it couldn’t lock onto its target. Rindou dodged skillfully without losing speed and closed in on the Magician.

“Time for your magic to end!”

With swift, repeated strikes of his Gale Blade, Rindou decapitated the three Kobold Magicians in an instant.

“GAAAHHH!!”

The furious Kobold Rangers and Knights charged at Rindou without any coordination.

“Alright, this is how it should be!”

With a grin on his face, Rindou swung his Gale Blade happily as he faced the approaching higher-tier Kobolds.

“Ha….!”

“Haah!” 

“GAAAH!”

The Kobold Paladin, although hunched, was nearly two meters tall. It held a massive greatsword and shield. 

It expertly blocked the attacks from both Ayane and Kyousuke.

“We can’t waste time, I’ll use my skill!” 

“I’ll use mine too!”

Kyousuke activated the skill [Battle Spirit], while Ayane followed with [Fūrinkazan] to launch an offensive.

“Skill [Wind]!” 

“HAH!”

With Kyousuke’s physical abilities enhanced by [Battle Spirit] and Ayane’s speed boost from [Wind], the Kobold Paladin struggled to keep up.

Even though the boss was a star-5 gate monster, the two of them were completely overwhelming it. 

Why was that? — Because the Kobold Paladin wasn’t a solo boss. It was a boss consisting of the Kobold Paladin and the higher-tier Kobolds. 

The Kobold Paladin itself wasn’t that powerful. And Rindou had taken on all the higher-tier Kobolds. While Ayane and Kyousuke were strong enough to easily handle the Paladin. This synergy made the strategy for this gate’s challenge a perfect fit.

“G-GAAAAAAH!!”

Unable to bear it, the Kobold Paladin roared. It gathered the Kobolds that had been fighting Rindou.

“…G-Garu?” 

However, none of the higher-tier Kobolds made their way to the Paladin. 

While struggling to withstand Ayane and Kyousuke’s relentless attacks, the Paladin glanced toward Rindou.

“…G…Garu-aaah?”

All of the Kobolds it had been commanding had been wiped out by Rindou.

“What, that was surprisingly easy.”

“G-Ga-ga-garuAAAAAAAHHHH!!”

Rindou provocatively smiled, and the Kobold Paladin released a furious roar. 

However, the roar quickly stopped. As Ayane and Kyousuke’s swords slashed through the Paladin from both sides. They split its body into three parts and ended its life.
